True but every established player is £15-£20 per month for terminal hire, min 12 month contract and also my personal experience with worldpay is min £7.50 per month so if you put nothing through in a month you're looking at min £22.50 for terminal + min fee.

This keeps coming up (are they a sponsor?) but don't get lured in by a fancy reader. They're charging you way too much per transaction.
The established players compete on price. Talk to some! I know multiple people paying 0.8% (online), 0.85% (card present), with free terminals.
Even at low volume, ask around. Your customers don't care about the brand of card reader.

Can any actual users confirm the currency display/readout? Looks to me like the Euro symbol, rather than GBP, so would guess it really does show 'normally' in UK i.e. £0,000.00 :-)

I think I'm leaning to square as one of the cheapest and also the software looks good. Looking to have something which will help with the POS and stock management.

When your mates say "I'll transfer it when i get home" or "Argh my phone is out of battery, I'll do it later"... and never get round to it. You whip out your iZettle and take their dollar while they are with you.
No device required and can attach payment to invoice using wave apps.

Exactly. And worse is that we use a comma to separate thousands, they use a full-stop (ie. the characters are switched). The issue is that a customer would not be wrong to be suspiscious that they are authorising £50,000.
My assumption is that the device does in fact use a decimal point for GBP amounts, and the photo mock-up is wrong.

This is a great device, very easy to use. However, customer service is appalling. My device is 18 months old, and after two weeks not in use started showing an error message. iZettle wouldn't touch it, and just suggested buying a new reader a full price. Very disappointing.

The VAT miscalculated for me on the website and the total with VAT comes out above the correct £22.80, I'm getting 23% VAT. Will be phoning the company in the morning to fix.

That's a great price for the reader and stand though for anyone contemplating a purchase be mindful that you'll need a Star Micronics printer if you wish to offer receipts. I think the least expensive is around £150 - I've tried a chip-and-pin thermal printer to no avail.

we used Zettle in the past but people didnt seem to trust it, lost us sales now we use a Paypal Here, in fairness its £75.00 for the terminal but the Paypal Brand is worth the extra when your selling at a fairs and markets, I find people are wary of paying on these portable terminals, having PayPal on the machine really does help with the trust.
Also you can get a 1.5% fee on Paypal but need to be taking over £55k a month on the card system, personally we pay 2% right now.

You're missing the point - the amount shown on the display is for British pounds £, so why should it display the Swedish decimal mark, it should display £50.00 for British pound and 50,00 kr for Swedish krona, not £50,00. There is no mix and match.

I'm always the one forking out for meals out etc and it's never easy getting money off people, but contactless payments into my account sound perfect!
(I know you can use online banking without any charges, but not everybody has that set up unfortunately!)

Yes you can. I wanted a second reader for my business and iZettle wouldn't give me a deal on second reader, so I got a deal similar to this in my wife's name and used her account details :-)

I bought a SumUp reader for mobility business selling adapted cars, and the conditions to
abide to,with extra invoices etc were not worth the bother.They did give me card reader money back after prompting less handling fee about £5.00.

A chargeback arises when a card holder contacts his/her issuing bank disputing a card payment. The reason behind this could be one of many, such as the card holder not being satisfied with the product/service purchased or not remembering making the purchase at all.
You’ll be notified by us via email as soon as we’re informed of a chargeback, and you'll then have 10 days to get back to us with the information requested in the email.
Our transaction protection program will cover any chargeback no matter the outcome as long as (1) we determine that the disputed card payment was carried out in accordance with our terms and conditions, (2) all requested information has been provided to us within the stated time parameters and (3) the chargeback is within the £250 monthly coverage

Good price :smile: Square is a good alternative but its a slightly higher upfront cost (and I think more people will trust the look of the iZettle reader when passing card info across). Square has a lower transaction fee at 1.75% (2.5% for manual, same as iZettle).
