Great specs for the price, especially when compared to Dell XPS / Macbook / Surface

Graphics are ddr3 so barely any better than integrated graphics. Really wish they just made the price cheaper rather than bundling half assed dedicated graphics that do little more than drain the battery faster

At least Nvidia support for 7+ years, in terms of drivers. I won't buy a laptop with Intel integrated graphics for that reason alone. Intel support v Nvidia support is like chalk and cheese.

My experience of Hp laptops is they are pretty shoddy - had an envy and the key board basically buckled and the touch pad was horrendous to click

My last 4 laptops have been HP and, generally speaking, they've been excellent - great spec for the price, nice looking and decent build quality. I've been happy enough with each one to go for another HP each time I've upgraded. But I have to say my current one has been pretty terrible - and it sounds like it must be the same generation Envy you had because the keyboard/plastics around it do feel very flimsy and the touchpad is just atrocious - so sensitive at times but completely unresponsive at other times, and if I go to actually physically click the mouse buttons on it, as opposed to tapping it, the left click works but it's so soft you don't know if you've clicked it or not and the right click needs to be pressed down so hard it only registers maybe once out of every three attempts. It's been like that since I bought it new and it really is just the design of it, so here's hoping they've improved it in subsequent generations (I think this is maybe 1-2 behind now?) or I won't be getting HP next time.

the business laptops are pretty good, lots of aluminium

I bought an HP laptop and had problems the moment it came out the box, I'm good with fixing computers but I just couldn't fix it no matter what I tried. I took it back the same day and swapped it for an Acer of the same price and it hasn't missed a beat.
there's something about HP that I just don't trust, I've only ever had 2 laptops from them and neither of them filled me with confidence.

could this edit 4k video? I'm after something to edit my DJI Mavic footage but I haven't for thousands to spend.

I hate HP.
Literally I bought the HP Pavillion with a 2tb normal HDD and intel graphics, its filled with HP bloatwear and the I7 literally makes no difference, it takes longer to load up than my Toshiba satellite from 2010. The laptop is made of cheap plastic, the backlight actually bleeds through the back of the laptop, it looks like a cheap piece of ****.
this might be better, I am never buying HP again though. (not voted either way)

I used to work for HP (2003 - 2005) and always thought they were good.. bought one couple of years back and had endless issue with the keyboard and the touchpad and the service was also on their terms. I sent email to them saying that was my first and last HP and will never recommend to anyone to buy any HP..

HP are a mixed bag, get a HP laptop with the motherboard made by Quanta, and it's generally poor (from my experience of a large number of HP laptops)
Get a HP Laptop with the motherboard made by Wistron, and they are mostly superb. It's knowing which company makes the motherboard for HP. Wistron (formally part of Acer) is the company to look out for though, in terms of the specs. On the whole, I think HP are pretty good, though support is dire and (I'd say) are paid to fob you off, you need to be persistent if you get a lemon. Their support will point you in the direction of "software fixes", even when the fault is obviously a hardware fault.
bought a 17 inch hp laptop from Currys for my wife. after 1 week of use the fan stopped working. waited 5 days for repair.
it feels quite poorly made. when it comes to laptops I love my Mac book and I'm no apple fanboy

My last laptop was from HP and it lasted me for almost 4 years! I, for some reason love HP compared to Dell or any other brands ( I ordered Dell 2 in 1 during Father's day deal and returned it) and ordered this laptop. I am typing from the same laptop and its lovely! Great screen quality...super quick boot up and amazing sound quality. It weighs around 1.5kgs(would have preferred something more lighter) but looks super trendy!

Hi there can you access the underneath without breaking warranty sticker to insert an 2.5" drive?

I haven't tried opening it yet but if I turn it over I can see ordinary philips screws so I suspect it's simple enough to tinker with.
