I've got a 2 year old Honor 7 which has been fantastic. Unfortunately the Honor 8 (and 9) are over £100 more than I paid for the 7. If I was looking at a new phone just now, I would love this - it has everything I personally would like, except it's only 2.4GHz wifi - I would miss the 5GHz option for the performance/contention issues it gives at the moment,

This a fantastic phone, camera is great, battery is fantastic. You can hammer it all day and you'll have enough juice by the end of the night. I have not seen the OTA Nougat update yet (although it has already been made available in India). EMUI is decent too, of course not stock Android but has some great features.

Camera is very good. Not flagship but better than nearly all under £250. Video only record 1080p at 30fps but it's decent quality. No issues to report regarding opening apps / games.
I've had an S7, S7 Edge and moved them on (too many little things that kept bugging me), but the 6X has stuck around for the long haul.
Plus you should get a case in the packaging as standard! Woo!

Agreed with the positive comments on this phone. I have this phone and it's great. No issues with battery, speed or camera.
Only negative for me personally is Nougat (Android 7.0) and EMUI 5.0 was supposed to be made available in Spring - still waiting! It's available in India and I could force flash it if I wanted, but rather wait until it's officially released in the UK OTA. At least I know it'll eventually be coming...

This is probably the best UK based deal on a proper brand phone going at the moment. It's powerful enough for 95% of users and a two year guarantee just caps the deal. If you are not hungry for the latest and greatest mobile and have a limited but not tiny budget then this is the one to go for at the moment.

As you have a LG G2 (with a better-than-average camera), I'd recommend staying with LG &, as you've raised your budget + prices have recenlty drastically fallen, I'd suggest a G6 or V20 - both from EGC though for the lowest prices (use discount code HAPPY3YEARS & select the free delivery for the best possible price):

Got this for £209 from Three Mobile. It's a very good phone but selfies are horrible from front camera. Snapchat selfies look even worse if you need it for that. Back camera is great, takes good pictures under proper light.
Overall 3GB of ram makes it snappy and apps load and open without lagging.
It's also missing physical buttons that samsung have but it's not much of an issue.

I'm drawn between this or the Huawei P8 Lite (2017) for £179.99. They look very similar except for a 5.2 screen on the P8 lite and the fact that it come with Nougat.
Read lots about mobile phones last few weeks (son wants a new one), and this phone appears to be the pick between the two.
Can't remember where I saw them compared, but this was the choice - sorry if that's not too helpful (hopefully someone who knows better might pop in).

Crazy comment.
Sure you can get fantastic bargains buying direct from China but it is a fairly rare person willing to take the chance on a high end mobile phone that comes from China direct. Even most of us who have used the likes of Aliexpress and Gearbest regularly don't usually spend more than £100 because you have keep in mind that you could be throwing that money away should something go wrong. With this deal you are getting decent build quality, good specs and a keen price and it's all from a major retailer. Unless you can get one of the occasional mega deals on one of the top of the range Motorola phones I think this is the best all around deal in the UK right now.
How about the fact that you're buying from an established UK retailer with the security that that provides for just a few quid extra?

From what I gather, both phones are covered by huawei's 2 year manufacturer's warranty only.
Also, I don't see where you got the info that the phone sold by Argos does work in band 20. In any case, this wouldn't affect everyone as quite a few mobile data providers use band 3 and 7 (http://www.4g.co.uk/4g-frequencies-uk-need-know/).

Argos are selling it as 4g SIM free so it has to work on all 4g frequencies.

Do not hesitate. It is by far the best you can get for the money.
It looks and performs like a phone which would cost a lot more. Use one as a daily driver and it never fails me. Never crashed or even stuttered for that matter.
The camera is above average for the price range. Battery life is fantastic and storage is plentiful. Only criticism I can give it is the loudspeaker is pretty weak and headphone jack output is nothing special.
Call quality is very good and antennas/GPS are very strong and reliable. I payed £199 from a 3 store for mine.

Bought for just under £150 from Amazon Warehouse last month and returned it as the Honor software is sub par, the screen is average and the audio output mediocre.
Still a good phone for the price and the battery life is good but prefer my Smart Platinum 7 even though it's stuck on Android 6 and has worse battery life. Great screen and a fairly clean version of Android make it a much more enjoyable experience and it was £130 from my local CeX; as new with sealed charger and earphones also.

24 Jun 17#94
I would agree, depends what peeps want, battery life or camera...other considerations are the CPU and memory. Not much to separate Huawei's own Kirin 655 and the P2 Snapdragon 625 processor, the Kirin has a better memory interface, the 625 having a slightly more efficient 14nm manufacturing process. The 625 has a better integrated GPU.
If weight (P2 heavier with its whopping 5000mah sized battery), size (P2 3mm taller) and camera quality are paramount then the Honor 6X at this price would be worth considering.
Otherwise unless you are not a fan of OLED screens, the P2 has its advantages despite its average camera, its GPU, its battery, its dual sim capability and speaker quality.
cicobuff
24 Jun 17#95
Amazed at how underrated a bargain the Smart Platinum 7 is, especially at the price that CEX are peddling them for, its ridiculous bargain with an OLED 2K screen, it is a shame there is no manufacturer support for Nougat, although Nougat is not a major overhaul in comparison to Marshmallow to be honest. Split view mode is about the most useful functional extra.

Note
Our company,TJ198 Network Technology Limited is located in Hongkong. We ship all of our products from Hongkong ande China, and we offer a range of convenient shipping options for every bubget
If you buy the phone and don't like it, by law, you're covered for at least 14 days in the UK if you bought it online. This allows you to simply change your mind. Plus, you can return it to your local Argos. Does gearbest's 45 day return policy give you that same level of peace of mind, without having to pay for postage, whether their warehouse is in the UK or Timbuktu?
Also, I couldn't easily find any details on Terms and Conditions on their mobile site. They come in handy when you have a problem or want to assess the returns policy in detail before purchasing.
Are you starting to get the gist now of why many people would be more uncertain about buying from Gearbest than Argos or do you plan to remain indifferent towards other people's choices or concerns?

Currently have a galaxy s5 which is on its last legs, need a new phone but dont want to spend much this time so this looks great ideally.
Mostly use spotify what'sapp and satnav along with a few other social apps, how would this cope with such use? is it smooth and fast?
Compared to a s5 is it better???
Any negative points to know of?

Everyone debating whether to go for this or lenovo p2. I bought a p2 and it was a lovely phone till i dropped it and smashed the fragile screen now if the screen was cheap to replace no problem but it cost around £120 so not worth fixing if it breaks so easily.
The week after got the honor 6x for the missus as it is just as good a phone as the p2 but what would sway me to get it would be the price of the replacement screens. I have seen them as low as £17 now that is a great price imo.

Great case for the Honor 6, presume it'll be the same for this one.
Would Google 'Outle Stores' and your location. I live in Northeerrn Ireland and the nearest to Belfast is Banbrige

It's not really supported in Android any more. Google has at least admitted that they made a giant mistake in allowing apps to be moved to the SD card. There's a provision in Android to securely format an SD card and mount it as a part of the system drive, but not a single manufacturer has allowed this because you'll break your phone if you ever remove said SD card and they don't want the headache.

I'm waiting for the release of the Xiaomi redmi pro 2. It will be much better than this (likely snapdragon 660, 1gb extra ram, double the storage space, much bigger battery, oled display) but will cost about the same when it is finally released.

Yes, which is a bit useless in my case. Change settings so that your camera app saves images/videos directly to SD card. Most of my storage comes from whatsapp images and videos which can't be stored automatically to SD

My phone just arrived and it looks pretty good. I bought a case directly from Amazon which has also arrived. Not the cheapest but looks like it will provide reasonable protection.
I have Spigen in my Nexus 6P and it is definitely very good and it perfect fit. I needed something a bit more bulky/protective for the Mrs so went for the TUDIA case
shantijack
27 Jun 171#172
I'm not sure just been reading online reviews saying they don't fit properly
If like my Honor 8 experience you will find 98% of tempered glass protectors will leave an annoying 2mm gap right round the entire screen becasue of the curved screen. Only ones that do fit completely are the those with coloured top and bottoms - but they won't last long I discovered (even with careful use).

Got a Wileyfox Swift at the moment. Like the security features of the OS, but find it laggy, restarts for no reason every day and the battery life to be awful, so looking to upgrade to something else.
Got this, the Moto G5 or the Note 4 on my shortlist so far.
Did the compare thing on GSMArena but some of the information is missing, regarding the battery especially.
Looks like the Moto G5 is the only one to have fast charging, but its battery is the smallest.
Used to need dual SIM 100% but now i have a MiFi thing from EE and find that better for me.
They all look pretty similar... main advantage of G5 being 5 instead of 5.5 and faster charging. Which of these phones would be the best? Anything due to be released soon which would be much better for a similar price?

Xiaomi is the better quality make so I would get a xiaomi phone. If redmi pro 2 ends up being too expensive then I would just look for another xiaomi phone like the original redmi pro which is about the same price as the doogee mix but seems better specced having a bigger battery and a higher resolution oled screen.

I updated the phone the same day I received it but via the app " firmware finder " and not via OTA. If you update via that app, the correct firmware (FULLOTA-MF-PV and around 2.4gb if I remember correctly) is the one second from the top. The top firmware (around 300mb) will download but will fail during the update process.

one review said occasionally it lags when opening apps, do you agree?
great camera - very good battery life - lovely display .... compared with the old phone - the HUKD old favourite SU6

I've had an S7, S7 Edge and moved them on (too many little things that kept bugging me), but the 6X has stuck around for the long haul.
Plus you should get a case in the packaging as standard! Woo!
G6 (£326):https://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/lg-g6-h870ds-64gb-dual-sim-sim-free-unlocked-black.html
V20 (£272): https://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/lg-v20-h990-dual-sim-64gb-sim-free-unlocked-titan.html
One downside with the V20 is that it has no 4G band 20 support (but it may not matter to you).
The EGC-sourced G6 is the enhanced Korean model, so has 64Gb, dual-SIM & the quad-DAC (i.e. not a cut-down UK version).
Make sure to pay with a credit card, so you're covered - more info here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases
Size comparison between the 3: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/LG-G2,LG-G6,LG-V20/phones/7969,10379,10202
but the honor 6x is not as "tough" and breaks easily
anyone have both? lol
Overall 3GB of ram makes it snappy and apps load and open without lagging.
It's also missing physical buttons that samsung have but it's not much of an issue.
Any suggestions from anyone would be very welcome.

Cat 6 is even faster.
I'm in as soon as I get back to Blighty in a couple of days.
Thanks OP. Caught this on FB as well. Heat added.
If you want to buy or already have bought from them then go ahead. Seems worth the extra to me and apparently most others.
I know if I could get the laptop I like at about £170 on gearbest for £190 from Argos I'd already own it rather than still wondering whether to chance it.
Good day!
Are you really not aware of the difference buying from a UK company or one based on the otherside of the globe is?
PS: To top it all, it seems Gearbest's EU warehouse is actually in the UK. I hope they just decide to create another one rather than moving it, in 2019.
I am still waiting on a confirmation from Argos about the honor 6X they are selling being capable of supporting 800MHz 4G (aka band 20) or not.
Ordered phone Tuesday night, arrived this morning (Sat).
£900 for a phone....nah don't think so Samsung....
All 4G capable phones sold by reputable UK retailers and networks should feature B20 support, unless it is explicitly stated otherwise.
For the other 1443 (and climbing) voters that think it's a good deal, let them do them. After all, your argument is also subjective because it's based on your opinion on how "worth" is measured.
Picked up a brand new P9 in a local store the other day for £104 and been playing around with that - black and white camera is excellent but the camera generally is a bit disappointing TBH. Not sure how much of an improvement over the P8 it is.
Some good info. you have there ...
What's OIS please?. :-)
I'm rocking that very same Lenovo P2 Phone now (in-fact, it's the very same Phone I'm typing this comment to you now in, lol).
Are you sure that the OP's Honor 6x Phone is better than that of what the Lenovo P2 Phone is already?, or ..... lol (genuine question by the way?) :-)
Just wondering now if I made the right choice?.
Or whether I should at some point just pitch for, and end up with both ...
Any suggestions?. :-)
