Expires on July 5, 2017 so can be used throughout the forthcoming Steam Summer Sale.

Seems to be open to everyone and isn't account specific.

EDIT:
Just to add that if you want to use the discount in the summer sale then your best option is probably to activate the voucher on your PayPal account now using the deal link. The discount will then be applied at checkout this Thursday/whenever.

Problem is there doesn't seem to be an option to add £20 wallet funds? Mine only shows £4, £10 and then £25, £50, £100. I don't really want to get £25 as it lessens the deal a bit as you are buying more than necessary for the £5 back. Is there anyway around this e.g. can you buy two £10? I'm guessing not as it seems to want to take me straight to checkout on picking an amount.

The steam interface is so bloody restrictive in some regards, surely I should be able to add any amount I like to my wallet?

Let us not forget, that steam sales have surely gone down a bit in recent years...
No daily sales, no flash sales. They must be making more money, otherwise i'd think it was a bad move (for them, not just us).
And obviously im guessing steam set this up with them, which concretes the idea sale prices arent so low in the first place.
Spark to Thebobwil

There are 2 thoughts on this. Firstly most of us already have a lot of what they're flogging cheap so much of the appeal is gone. Also, the flash sales had to go when they started offering refunds.

Ok, so you have to use enhanced Steam to get exactly £20 wallet credit?

Also, does the discount show at any point through the Paypal checkout so you can see it has applied before actually spending the money? or do you just have to buy it with it showing full price and hope the coupon has actually been taken off?

Does this actually work? If I add £25 to my steam wallet by paying with paypal I will immediately see something in paypal crediting me £5? It's just that this bit in the T&C has got me worried:

The Offer shall not be available if the aggregate monetary amount credited to customers reaches GBP 24,000.00.The Offer excludes gift voucher payments and gift card purchases and purchases not made through your PayPal account.
Illusionary
20 Jun 17 2 #53
Yes, it works - I used this about half an hour ago. You'll just see the net amount deducted in your PayPal account and there's an intermediate confirmation page where you should see the offer shown as being applied, once logged in to PayPal.
DarrenHUKD
20 Jun 17 #54
How do I do this?

I've saved the order to my PayPal account, do I now add 2 x 10GBP to my Steam account and purchase through my PayPal and I'll only be charged 15?
Illusionary
20 Jun 17 1 #55
No - you need to make a single transaction to add £20+ to your account. Your PayPal account should be charged £5 less than the funds added to Steam.
DarrenHUKD

I just used mine (and yes, it applied correctly), yet the offer is still listed in my PayPal wallet as "Ready to use".

Anyone want to test to see if a 2nd purchase is discounted too? (you can back out at the PayPal confirm page, so no 2nd purchase is necessary)

Does it have a lifespan? I should spend it in the sales but you never know!
pelwl
20 Jun 17 #66
Same for me too. I once bought a £50 voucher from CD Keys for £42 and it took about 9 months and 3 sales to actually spend it all (during which time I still spent loads on Steam keys from other places). I think this time I'll limit my Steam purchases to DLC because they're the only things that rarely get cheaper elsewhere than in Steam sales.

Anyway, it worked fine for me. Cheers OP.

Help - I have used the link to paypal and it confirms the £5. How does Steam link to paypal to transfer the £5 credit to the steam account?
Illusionary
20 Jun 17 #74
You're out of luck then, I'm afraid (you can refund games purchased for yourself with <2 hours of recorded game time). Of course, you can still add funds to your account in anticipation of future purchases.

FWIW, right now is about the worst time that you could pick to buy games on Steam - the summer sale starts in less than two days and will see a wide range of games receiving significant discounts.

What was the point of the daily and flash sales though, really? They just reduced everything to the lowest prices on the last day anyway, so no one would miss out, so now it's just like that except you can get the lowest prices on the the first or any other day of the sale instead of waiting - no messing around, no worrying whether a game is as cheap as it's going to get, because it already is.
Also, the £5 offer does not mean the sale prices could be lower, it's just an incentive to get you to top up. The sale prices will be set by the developers, because obviously they want to be left with some money after Valve takes their cut.

What if I have a steam £20 gift card and redeem it on steam will I still get £5 off can someone confirm?
ST3123
21 Jun 17 #124
No, because it wasn't bought with paypal while the offer was active. Steam don't really have anything to do with this offer, as far as Steam are concerned you are paying full price, the £5 off comes from Paypal, so any existing steam credit you have won't benefit, you have to make a new purchase using Paypal BUT remember to save the offer first. If you have done it correctly it will show during checkout before you confirm the purchase, if it doesn't show cancel it and try again...

It's possible that it's functionality they're just accidentally left out so people have to buy a little bit more (or equally a lot more) than they need.

That or they're just not validating the amount, and don't really care because you're just giving them money.

It's hidden because they have a feature where, if you have say £1.50 in your wallet and you want to buy a game that costs £17.99, an extra option appears letting you add the necessary funds for that transaction (Add £16.49). The extension hooks into that option.

You still get 90% off on loads of titles. It all depends on the game, how new it is and how well it's currently selling, but it's very rare that a game will go on sale with less discount than the previous sale. The flash sales were just to generate excitement, they weren't cheaper.

The psychological effect of flash sales. :stuck_out_tongue:
But if you ever want to check whether a game is as cheap as it gets, you could always use steamprices.com to tell you when it was last on sale, at what price, and the cheapest it's ever been in the Steam store, or there are browser plugins like Steam Inventory Helper which will give you the cheapest ever and current cheapest price, checking a few (but not all) key sites as well as the store.

Not working for me either right now. Got an effectively free copy of Isaac:Rebirth last time they offered this (just for linking Steam:Paypal accounts that time) <3

Will be great for snagging a bundle deal - got most of the Endless Legend dlc and Borderlands Pre-Sequel from those nice deals!

Funny you should say that, I have Endless Legends base game and one or two dlc's-there are quite a few now and I was considering completing the set in this sale. I've played a few hundred hours single player, maybe it's time to brave multi.

Now seems to be expired - 'you cannot save any more offers from this merchant'. A shame as Steam is brilliant, an I do spend a lot on there.

It's a bit daft to have said it expires in July if they couldn't fulfill this deal for everyone. Surely they'd have known it would be popular.

Hopefully they will restock it as it ran out literally the day they introduced it then came back again, so think it likely it will. Would be a bit embarrassing for them to have a promo for the steam sale that is over before it even starts.

As a last resort, if it doesn't get restocked I'd advise anyone that can't get it to call Paypal and complain, I did this with a previous similar £5 promo I couldn't get to work via the sign up page and they just put £5 straight in to my paypal account, found paypal are usually very good to deal with on the phone....

22 Jun 17 #167
I'm getting the exact same message.

I think it's to do with the small print.
"The Offer shall not be available if the aggregate monetary amount credited to customers reaches GBP 24,000.00."

Unless I'm wrong that means less than 5,000 people can add the offer to their account.

I've used Enhancedsteam for ages and never knew this! Cheers.
Then again this is the only time I'm actually adding wallets funds through Steam rather than just buying stuff  .

Worked for me, be aware Steam will still show £20 total on the last confirmation, but if Paypal said "You'll save £5" then you will, I was a little worried about that but Paypal definitely only took £15.

How to add £20 of Steam Credit if you don't want to use the Chrome extension
->https://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds
->open console (chrome "F12", Firefox "CTRL"+"SHIFT"+"C")
->input
javascript:submitAddFunds( 2000 );

Worked for me just now processing it through however I activated the voucher when the deal was first posted.

Pfff, very disappointed this has run out. If it expires July 5th, it should be available to claim until that date.
JamesSmith
23 Jun 17 #181
Guys guys guys... It was a limited first-come-first-served offer.
reddragon105
23 Jun 17 1 #182
PayPal have now officially tweeted that the offer has reached its cap but that we should "Watch this space for more great PayPal promotions" (which I guess doesn't necessarily mean Steam offers).

It's a bit shady that they've deleted all previous tweets mentioning the offer, almost as if they didn't want anyone to know about it! And apparently it was capped at £24,000, or 4,800 users, which is a bit ridiculous considering Steam has over 125 million active users.
higgles
23 Jun 17 #183
it`s not so much it was time limited but that the offer page is still live to click on. switch it off or show a message saying the offer is now closed.
cainer1
23 Jun 17 #184
nope, you've got it wrong...
if you read the t&c's you would see there was a redemption limit of £24k (4,800x £5 vouchers),
and for those lucky 4,800 who saved the offer to their Paypal wallet... the voucher expires 5th July,
its pretty straight forward if you read the t&c's
cainer1
23 Jun 17 #185
erm, No.
first off.. thats a world wide user number,
and secondly this offer was UK only hence the £24k limit
other countries had their own separate deal (5euro off a 20euro spend, $5 of a $20 spend etc..)
Marzman
23 Jun 17 #186
Crap, should have claimed this the other night when it was still valid, although I would have bought lots of little random stuff to get over the £20 =)
reaper200
23 Jun 17 #187
Does this work if you add several games to your basket so that they total over £20?
PressureDrop
23 Jun 17 #188
I am very aware that it is straightforward, if you had bothered to read my post properly, you would discover I was merely saying that PAYPAL themselves should have made this offer available until July 5th, rather than limit it to the first few people. I wasn't having a go at the OP or anyone else so no need to be a white knight.
cainer1
23 Jun 17 1 #189
but that would cost them an unlimited amount of cash well into the millions.. that was never going to happen,
thats why they capped it, and made that clear in the t&c's
CreepyD
23 Jun 17 #190
Not working - I can only assume it's expired, 4800 people is a tiny amount..
I thought it started today with the summer sale, but turns out it started 3 days ago, that sucks.
It could at least say "Sorry this offer is now full".
Ashe
23 Jun 17 1 #191
The problem with this offer wasn't the end date, or the number of uses, it's that you had to login and you got a vague message once it had expired - rather than a simple page saying 'this offer has ended'.

I have to disagree - if the offer has ended, why would anyone want tweets about that advertise a now-ended offer? Bear in mind it's not just people following Paypal, it's people following people that retweeted the offer. There's nothing shady about that.
reddragon105
23 Jun 17 #192

Oh, okay, my bad, 4,800 is a huge proportion of the 8 million UK users.

Because there was an offer and then it ended - why would you delete tweets about something like that? It's not like tweeting something controversial and thinking better of it. Most people/companies wouldn't bother deleting tweets about expired promotions - so why did Paypal bother? And I'm pretty sure they deleted the tweet before the limit was hit, almost as if they didn't want people to hear about it.
Ashe
23 Jun 17 #193
I gave a reason - so people don't click on an expired offer not knowing it's expired. That's a clear benefit of deleting it - could you give a clear benefit of *leaving* links to expired offers that don't say they've expired? Perhaps others *should* delete tweets to expired offers - just because many others don't do it doesn't make that the 'right' option.

And if they deleted the tweet before the limit was hit, can't see how that matters - they hit the limit.
lasuil
23 Jun 17 #194
if I activated it a day or 2 ago can I still use it?
Ashe

You should be able to - I used mine an hour or so ago fine. It showed at checkout as a £5 discount before I bought.
