I don't like that they've filled in between the lines!

Would this be playable on an old 8 core Mac Pro with 750ti ??

I've got this game in a recent sale on the Xbox One and it was one helluva frustrating hour that I'll never get back !! waste of time and money, just wish I could play a decent space pirate game without all the baggage so to speak
any other recommendations ?

The games biggest exploit was fixed a few days back with the guilty players getting gear taken off them. The exploits left are a bit irritating but you CAN ignore them. I agree they do detract from the game. Personally i play this in a private group with like minded folk so am not affected by the berks in open. There is no advantage to playing in open mode and you can swap at will with your character. Try open . It is where i started. But IF you do not like it, try a PG or so!o before giving up

I tried this game, but it was full of people exploiting and was generally poorly policed. It's very pretty, but also riddled with problems.

Well that was a surprise. I bought it (at 03:35 am). Installed it in about a minute then it spent about 5 minutes installing updates. I then hit PLAY and it said:
Preparing to Launch Elite Dangerous
Ready to launch in approximately ......... 1 hour 31 minutes !!!
Vr is excellent in this.
I use a £20 headset with my phone, install moonlight, and then have Trinus server on the PC and phone for the head tracking. With a thrust master hotas stick it's fantastic.
You need horizons, gets a bit boring otherwise. Not played for a few months but there is some story to catch up on.

This game is unfinished and annoyingly weak in so many places and yet, its STILL by far the best game i have ever played (partly due to oculus rift) . Every VR user has to have this in their collection, outside of vr its still a good title and no brainer at this price
Yes its more fun with hotas but it is the most controller agnostic game there is, you can use anything you want on it. Some of the most skilled pvpers use kb/m (i hate pvp in ED however and am all about immersion so the hotas was a no brainer. Ideally need xbox pad too for the land vehicle if you get the horizons dlc)
Honestly if it were me i would cancel this order and get the deluxe edition. Horizons adds a lot and you get some nice cosmetics in the deluxe version essentially for free

I does seem like a marmite game thats for sure. Couple of peeps in the guild play it and love it and a few that dont. I though for £10 take the plunge and see what happens

It's definitely a marmite game. Personally I'm not a fan of any game that effectively wants you to read through an entire wiki and take a Udemy course before you can play it but there are huge numbers of people who absolutely love it.

Really? Do you know which ones? I've got the WartHog, which I'm not going to buy Elite on the PS4 as well, but might be handy for other flying games.

maybe Ill give it a bash first then, see how I go and if I like it and want to invest, then maybe the joystick will come later

You can play quite happily with game pad or keyboard / mouse.
Prefer it with hotas

Tried this game once. Spent over an hour trying to parallel park a space ship before giving up and realising that it just really wasn't for me. Good deal if you're into this sort of thing though.

Thanks for the feedback. Just realised ps4 version is only £20 so not as huge as I thought. Have a few days to decide either way. Recommend the dlc/season pass or try first on base game? I am reading from Reddit that it is a huge grind as well. How have you found the game?

Bargain. One of the best games out there - if you put in the time.

Yep. If you don't have loads of time to play, don't bother. It's not a game for people with actual lives

You can get a Hotas setup for PS4 also.

I was going to try it on ps4 but this price is much cheaper. Still not sure if worth getting on ps4 for the newer player community as I imagine pc players are very advanced by now?

Yes there are advanced pc players but you pretty much get that from day 1 as there players who live breath and eat elite.
You can play on a solo server or with pve group.
I most play play on open servers, been attacked a few times but adds to the fun. Won a few battles and lost more

Get it on PC, then you can use the superior HOTAS control instead. So much better than controllers
