It can but Nintendo need to find a reason for people to buy NEW 3DS's and so this is the only way they'll let you play these SNES games.

Nintendo never do good deals or low prices. Even old games cost a fortune compared to PS4 and Xbox titles.
It's the main reason my WiiU gathers dust next to my PS4. I refuse to pay top prices for old titles.

Okay, point taken but I woulda thought the 3ds coulda handled snes.

Emulation is quite a processor-intensive task - it needs the extra power that the New 3DS provides for SNES emulation.

I don't think anyone is saying that every offer is an amazing deal, but Xenoblade Chronicles is £8.99 while a pre-owned copy at Cex is £25 and Super Mario 64 was great value at full price and is a bargain at £4.49.
As for the Switch comments... this isn't a deal for the Switch games, it's a deal for Wii U and 3DS games.

Who the hell is giving this "deal" heat? These aren't bargains. Nintendo don't know how to do a sale properly. A lot of these games even with the discounts can still be bought physically in the shops. And owning games physically is better than digitally.
We still have no idea if our purchases on WiiU/3DS can be transferred to the Switch. Hell, we don't even know when Virtual Console is launching there. It's pretty pathetic that after over 3 months after Switch's launch there's still no sign of it coming. Wii had VC at launch. 3DS had it. Wii U had it. It's ******* pathetic.
And don't get me started on their convoluted voice chat app that still won't be properly ready until next year. WTF?

Does Super Metroid only work on the new 3ds?
Anything special about it?
Is it in 3d?

No, it's not in 3D, but you do need the NEW 3DS to play it, since Nintendo decided to not let you play SNES games on the standard 2/3DS models. Because it's Nintendo.

ive never bought from them direct as its always cheaper elsewhere so in my eyes the basic price is £28 for a phsyical copy which is not a big difference but to some it does matter so there is stuff here at some good prices but some are a bit meh but would love the other one in physical

id like Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (Nintendo DS) but perfer physical copies & i want Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, but £24.49 is not a bargain as its only £28 for a physical copy so would expect that lower

It is when you consider Nintendo are guilty of higher prices for digital downloads compared to physical for a lot of their games. This price is a £10 saving on the physical release from the Nintendo UK store

apparently the switch wont have a virtual console. but their subscription service allows you access to their library. something like £20 a year for access to the catalogue they plan to release
Illusionary to Hektor
16 Jun 171#20
That's not correct. Yes, Nintendo's online service will include access to a catalogue of NES games, but this isn't a replacement for the Virtual Console. Nothing has yet been announced as to what form the Virtual Console will take, as and when it eventually appears.

I hope my virtual console purchases on 3ds and wii u transfer to switch otherwise I'm never buying anything digital from them again

Most companies expect you to re-buy your digital purchases for other platforms. I highly doubt that Nintendo are going to unlock the games for free on the switch if you own them on a 3ds or wiiu.

Sony didn't with a majority of their games being cross buy, neither does xbox with their backwards compatibility system and it doesn't matter what other companies do it's still scummy practice that treats consumers with no respect.
