Game and their "deals"
I almost fall for their wording every time.
Is this the game you get free with the Uncharted thing?

No that's Jax & Daxter

That makes ZERO sense, don't understand why you thought you'd have to pay £10, when they say half price they mean the trade in value on the game effectively means you only need to pay half price, pokemon x trades in at £10, buy sun or moon you get £20, meaning you pay half the price you would of paid had you not traded in.
it does not mean that the game becomes half price & then you trade in your game for the normal price.
legitemely have no idea how anyone can come to that conclusion lol. that's legitmately hilarious.

C'mon now, this is Game we're talking about here. I'm surprised they're not selling it for the 'Low price' of £55 :man:
bobafettish
27 Jun 17#33
that's pretty much it, though like i said, if hitman still is £20 that's what you'll get.
don't really have an issue with it,you trade one of those in you pay no more thanhalf price. now if the games were already £17.50 trade in i'd have a different opinion.
they assumed the price would be £29.99
I_Am_Timms
27 Jun 17#32
But if Games RRP for Crash is £35 then you're paying £17.50 and trading in one of the selected titles. Wheres £15 come from?

If was the same, 'trade in a game on the list and get Tekken 7 half price' but like I said I had 2 and they informed me I get 100% for trading in 2. They simply take the game on the list and use that to take 50% off the instore cost of the game. The trade in values of the games were less than half the instore cost so you can't really argue over that point with them. I imagine they adjust the instore price to suit.
The Smyths preorder price I bought it for would seem to be the better deal.

Awesome. Cheers for the explanation. I won't lie, the heads blown
I was possibly a little too trusting of the advertisement to be honest. I still can't help there's a small bend on the actual truth of the wording in the offer. But I get it now, effectively every game in the list will have a trade in value of £17.50 when used against Crash Bandicoot.
bobafettish
27 Jun 171#28
work @ game so i'll explain.
the game is going to be £34.99 (at least that's what we've been told since we knew of the release date)
When it says half price, it means the trade in value gets bumped up to half the cost of the game, in this case £17.50
long story short, when we process trade ins we have 3 options, recommended (ie normal price) promo (stuff like this) and cash
so if you trade in minecraft story mode towards crash they'll use the promo price and you'd get £17.50 instead of £4
As for hitman it's likely just to try and get folks trading in that title (they don't list the normal prices for example) you'd still get £20 (assuming that this isn't refrencing a trade in value drop by friday) and have to pay the £14.99 difference, which from game's perspective would be less than half price.
Also I'd bet they mean the minecraft storymode complete adventure, specially when the standard storymode is 12.99 or 14.99 pre ownedlikely they've used the wrong image in the gif.

I don't think it's any help but I did the tekken 7 trade in offer a few weeks back and because I had 2 games on the list. I got 100% off Tekken 7. The trade in value of the games didn't seem to be a consideration. Store price was £49.99 but I traded in 2 x music magpie specials at £26 cost so I won!
BuzzDuraband to Hiltron09
27 Jun 17#27
What was the offer Hiltron? Was it a 'trade in 2 get Tekken for...'?
I'm just a bit dubious now of Game's actual use of the terminology 'half price'.
BuzzDuraband
27 Jun 17#26
I appreciate the response mate. Cheers for clarifying. Just out of interest, in your experience, did they actually use the term 'half price'?
kdk
27 Jun 171#24
I don't know if this has been clarified but you do *not* get the credit for the trade-in.
When Pokemon Sun/Moon came out they had a similar offer. Making up the numbers but I think it was trade in a Pokemon 3DS game and get Sun/Moon for £20. I thought ok, trade in Pokemon X for £10 (which was **** because it was going on eBay for £25+), use the £10 credit and get Sun/Moon for £10. Went through the whole process in store and was told I needed to pay £20. Tried to explain that I should pay £10 but it was lost on him. Went online to their customer support to explain that either Sun/Moon was half price and I was getting £0 for X OR Sun/Moon was £30 and I was getting £10 for X. They didn't follow. After 20 minutes I just gave up - they weren't going to change the deal.
So, I'm 100% sure that you will *not* get any value from the trade-in. Sorry.

I'm guessing the in store price for the game will be £39.99
If not trade in prices will be adjusted before this deal is live on release
bigmike13788
27 Jun 17#20
The games have a trade in price for people not trading in against Crash. If you trade in against anything else you get the value above but if you trade in against Crash you get the game for half price
BuzzDuraband to bigmike13788
27 Jun 17#21
So if I (for example) traded in Hitman, with it's trade in value of £20. I'd hand them that game and £15?
That's the misleading part. It's not actually half price, is it? I've just handed them a game with a trade in value of £20 for £15. Effectively costing me £35 for Crash Bandicoot.
If this is the case, it's definitely questionable advertising by Game. Why wouldn't I just trade in Hitman to my account and hand them £9.99?
bigmike13788
27 Jun 17#18
I don't know what's so hard to understand about this deal. You trade in one of these games against Crash, and you get Crash for half price
BuzzDuraband to bigmike13788
27 Jun 17#19
But in which way?
Are you suggesting you keep your credit of the game you've traded in? Or do you trade the game in at no value and receive Crash 'half price'?
If it's the latter, it's not really half price, is it? The games all have a value as stated above.
BuzzDuraband
27 Jun 17#17
Yeah, I saw that, although it was still a bit flaky on the details. I've asked them specifically about the trade in credit and if we'd receive it.
Jay080286
27 Jun 17#16
Maybe they haven't got a definite price instore yet? So better to say Half Price than an actual figure for this offer.
We know how it works, it's just that one way is better than the other
Anyway, I've expired it until more is known.

The more I think about it, the more you have me thinking now
I've just had a look at some of the previous Smyths threads and they always clearly stated 'and receive xxxxxxx for £9.99'
Surely (although not unbelievable) Game can't advertise something for half price if they're actually taking more off you, for example as the case would be with Hitman?

Jay080286

Surely it just means trade in any of those games and get the Game for half price.
The same as the way Smyth's did their £9.99 when you trade in a certain game?
BuzzDuraband
27 Jun 17#9
Yeah, I've Tweeted for clarification. But if you look at it, trading in Hitman would end up costing £35 in the long run. As I said in the OP, I thought it was a tad weird, but it looks legit.

27 Jun 171#8
I'd also hope so but I just know how great game usually are. They have done similar things with new console releases. for example this
badasschris
27 Jun 171#6
so do you get the credit on top? if not then its only really a deal if you have minecraft story mode and were planing on trading it in anyway?
BuzzDuraband to badasschris
27 Jun 171#7
Well you'd imagine so. You wouldn't be getting it half price if that wasn't the case.
For example. The Last of Us. £12 + £14.99 = £26.99
As it reads, and I'd assume as it is. Trade TLOU in for example, hand the cashier £3 and remove yourself from the store with Crash Bandicoot and a penny.
Dante666
27 Jun 171#5
You'd think it would be £14.99 however knowing games instore prices it'll be 39.99, so it might be £19.99. But fingers crossed
Either way it's still a good price if you've got a game lying around to trade in! Heat added!

Game = Good trade in deal? The world has gone mad!
Opening post
I'm not sure how this is working, I have Tweeted for clarification as to wether you keep the trade in cost or not.
The ones on the ad shown are (with current trade in prices).
The Last of Us Remastered - £12
Lego: Jurassic Park - £10
Lego: Avengers - £10
Hitman: Complete First Season - £20.00
Minecraft Story Mode - £4.00
[Link to Tweet]
I've used £14.99 as the guide price.
