Yes the room gets no cooler but your body does by the fan moving the heat & humidity away from your body.

Ordered this yesterday and received the item today. Have it scheduled to be returned tomorrow.
There were minor issues which were expected with something so cheap like wonky base and one feet that wouldn't clip onto the base properly. However, there was also a problem with the head and switch unit being loose and the whole thing rattled when turned on. I'm not sure if this is a testament to the quality or if I had received a faulty unit. There was one screw that would just turn without tightening so it probably caused this. Did anyone else experience this or something similar?

I don't know what people see in fans. They don't actually provide cooling they just move the heat around the room. Plus you add whatever extra heat from the fan motor. I think you have two choices, just put up with the heat or get a proper portable air con with an exhaust out of the window.

I'm in my home office right now. Fan on, I feel cool. Fan off, I get hot. That's what I see in a fan.

Fans are to keep you cool, not to keep you dry! And it's fair to say there'll be many more muggy nights berfore summer's over.

closer your skin temperature to room temperature evaporation from skin is very small therefore you will feel like warm air is hitting you and it does not work as well till temp lowers particularly in the evening

[Direct breeze toward open window when it's cooler outside to push out hot air.
Less effective but way more cheaper and greener than air con

Bought 2 x desktop and 1 of the £16 freestanding ones, all have same issue - the cord is far too short on them :disappointed:
Budget for an extension lead if you plan to situate anywhere away from your socket.
