£379 but with the £20 cash back it would make it £359

Put the £60 towards a 55-250mm, far better lens

It's a telephoto zoom lens which means it is mainly suited to taking photos of distant objects/animals etc. where you need to "zoom in", rather than being for general purpose photography.
However this particular lens is old and basic, it comes from a time when Canon's budget lenses were mostly rubbish.
There are several versions of the 55-250 lens mentioned but the second one (indicated by the II in the name) and the newer but more expensive STM version are both commonly available and can give great results. Compared to the 75-300 they are sharper but they also have the benefit of "image stabilisation" which means that the effects of camera shake are reduced. This is particularly relevant on a lens like this where even a tiny movement could cause blur.

You gotta buy IS lenses, as sometimes you get only one shot, so make it a good one. You can post process almost anything except blurred!

far better off with the 18-55mm IS lens although this is decent of you're very steady or using a tripod

Lmao. What I was trying to get at is that it will probably drop in the future to this price. BTW, went into store yesterday to try the camera out, told the guy that it was cheaper before. He couldn't do anything for price but at £379 plus cash back he threw in 2 class 10 32gb SD cards and a decent bag. So got better deal haggling in store
That deal was 5 months ago, this deal was 2 days ago, that is unless you have a flux capacitor and a Delorean I doubt very much your going to get that exact deal again.

Nor have you asked specifically for what additional information you require to assist you with answering my question. The best advice you've given so far was your last. Good evening..

You don't really see your first 2 posts above as being helpful? Or do you?? Gee thanks for your useful comments. If you needed me to provide more context maybe you should have just asked for more clarity rather than attempting to be facetious.

Why should I link the JL bundle so you can see the price when the question I asked had no reference to the price. My question was based upon the bundle. Previous posts had stated that some canon lenses were older and of a lesser standard than some of the newer lenses. The amount of wasted time and effort you have expelled posting on this deal far out weigh the time it would have taken you to take a look on the JL website yourself or maybe just ask me how much it was. I often wonder how rude and arrogant people like you would be if we had the opportunity to meet face to face.

what question?! you haven't actually responded to a single point made
question: is it good?
answer: it depends!
if you want a better answer give better criteria and info!
if this was real life id have pretended to only speak spanish and made a swift exit but as its on the net and i didn't have to move away i tried to help you to think... my mistake!

Ok, great it appears you are capable of having a sensible conversation at last rather than posting meaningless comments.I like the camera. Its within my budget but there seem to be a variety of different lens combos that come with it ranging from £300 to £380. As for linking the camera (or thing as you refer to it as) If you re-read my post you can clearly see I've stated that its from John Lewis and listed the lenses that it comes with. Let me know if you need anymore assistance with searching the john lewis website...
but as you didn't bother linking the john lewis bundle or even supply a price you ignored the point i made or maybe you expect me to do the work of looking for the info and then giving advice?
you are still not even actually asking a relevant question
the only one without everyone bending over backwards to do everything for you is 'it depends'
dinglebin
13 Jun 17#33
if you ask a proper question you would be more likely to get a proper response
is it 'good'? sure
is it bad? yep that as well
you give no context for comparison
certain bundles are ok but are great if they are cheap
certain lenses are great but if you are paying over the odds then its a poor buy
you could always look at reviews if you cant think of the right questions or even be bothered to link the thing you are talking about
I just decided to keep John Lewis one. partner can buy Lens if he wishes at a later date. hopefully this is good enough for him.
however I seen the Nikon d3300. it looks like a better camera....can anyone help me decide?
I waited for this deal for about 2 months in till 29th may when I finally bought nikon d3400 from jessops with 18-55mm vr lense + nikon accessory kit + CEWE photo book voucher + £45 nikon cashback for £449.
Considering I had to buy a decent camera beforw 3rd June for my daughter's 1st b'day party.
I still think this is a better deal.

Another vote for staying away from the 75-300mm lens, it's awful and isn't stabilised. Skip the bundle, get a normal kit and save the change towards the 55-250mm IS STM or even the older 55-250mm IS II, both of which are tack sharp.
There is also a package for this camera with the image stabilised lens. IMO you would be better off buying that.
Amazon have both packages for similar prices

I have this lens purchased from here https://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/canon-ef-s-55-250mm-f-4-5.6-is-stm-lenses.html
I know it's a grey import but for £110 delivered seems like a bargain to me. Mine came as it would of if you bought it from the UK (original packaging) within the week with fully tracked delivery. Some may say there is no Canon warranty but eglobal provide their own for what it's worth. Hope this helps.
