How does this deal work:
Is it as simple as download the app and order it in the store you intend to buy ad then show the order to the staff on the till ?? Is it applicable;e to any BK shops ? Thanks
cainer1 to pantaiema
5 Jun 171#56
yep, its pretty straight forward,
you cant use the App at certain locations like airports and holiday parks (Butlins/Haven etc)
just ask at the till before you order if you are unsure

Has anybody ever noticed at Burger King that no matter how large a portion of chips you ask for. You always seem to get the same amount, in the exact same sized packet, every time?

Arguing whether McD or BK is better is a bit like a rant over which dog's poop you'd rather pick with your bare hand.

hmm, their business so they can set the t&c's how they like,
at those locations you're a captive audience so they've no need to compete like they do on the high street
Lemmin83 to laperlenoire

Probably because they are a franchise.

Subway do a similar thing, some on average roads have the nationwide deals, one in particular in a shopping centre doesn't. I asked why, they said that because their rent was so much higher than elsewhere they couldn't run the offers and still turn a profit so opted out.
jhd1995 to laperlenoire
3 Jun 171#48
Airport stores do not accept because they pay more to rent the unit. Can be 40% of sales. Which is why they have to charge higher prices. If they discounted to £1.99 then they would be making a loss.
Some of the retailers pay £40,000 a week to rent space - but make £140,000 a week in sales.
BluePandaMan to laperlenoire
4 Jun 171#49
Airport operators charge a very high rent, they also specify what times you must be open (often when a normal business would be closed) and also other operating decisions (such as at what times you can accept deliveries etc) and they also take a percentage of the takings (not profits) or collect a minimum fee if those takings are below a certain level (if you are closed for a refit). The contacts are for a fixed period, meaning that after 5 years you may find you have been replaced by one of your competitors. Lastly you can't always employ the staff you want, rather you have to take the ones that the airport can approve of. In return for all these restrictions, you get a massive captive audience and relatively little competition. It sounds grim, but companies are queuing to open at airports, so if must pay.
Anyway, back to the topic in hand, the bottom line is that any discounts given to you, have to be paid to the airport operator anyway.

Burger King is a franchise so it's up to the individual stores to decide whether or not they want to parcipate.

The ones I am talking about are the new style McCafes were you only have the option to use a screen and you take your receipt and sit down then somebody turns up with your order and then you say can I have ketchup can I have more sugar etc and that person then goes away to get these things, load of faff mate, and can you imagine 2 families of 12 or more in total trying to do this with the totally out of control kids that all want a different fussy order and then their card won't work in the reader. Oh my god.

If you have a coupon they pick it up when they bring your order to your table. If the coupon is not valid they take the order away and put it in the bin unless you pay the full price difference. That's according to another thread here.

Yeah, i'd take Burger King over McDonald's any day of the week.
I've stopped using the restaurants with the machines, i've no idea what to do with them. Is it like Argos/Soviet Russia where you have to queue to use a machine to order, then queue to pick it up? What happens if you've got a coupon?

That's funny I find Burger King chips better than McDonalds, and due to McDonalds opening up new McCafe's where it's all done on them stupid machines and no counter service I will not be using them in future. As Bob sang " The times they are a changing ".
P.S. The sizes seem to be getting smaller also.
soldierboy001
2 Jun 17#38
The cost of running at these establishments is greater than the high street so economise have to be made and the offers always say at participating outlets they are in business to make money so that they will still be there for you tomorrow. But McDonalds seem to be able to charge high street prices, probably because their sales figures are higher but still do not give promotions as a rule.
