Why would anyone want to buy a package of any sort from the den of thieves and bullies that comprise BT?
They are vicious, heartless and inefficient. They set debt collectors on me when they actually owed me money and even when they had to pay up after I asked Oftel to bring them to heel, they couldn't be bothered to apologise.

Same as for me. I will challenge this as under EU regulations they need explicit agreement to charge me. AFAIK having it in the T&C with "we might charge you" is not enough. Especially, that you cannot check whether they will charge you or not until they actually give you the number....
My 12 months contract with bt broadband has just finished, and they still say there is a standard HIDDEN "cease charge" of £31 if I leave BT. my fault for not reading the small print apparently

The reward and £0 activation fees are all there, just more expensive. Plusnet prices are most appealing for me, but I'm currently mid-contract with them (want to cancel early based on the line rental prices changing, but would want to stick with them too, so kind of hoping for a decent retention deal that matches the new customer deals... who am I kidding though!)

I signed up with the £150 card and £50 cashback, but only confirmed a £125 card! The lady from BT was actually very nice and said as a new customer its important to get things right at the start and refunded the activation fee, yeahhhh - not what I would expect from BT, have memories of 20 years ago endless calls trying to sort out something simple but things have improved.

I don't want to disconnect the line they do. I am moving to a different location. Checked whether I can move the line and the offer they had was hilarious. They wanted around 42 pounds for standard broadband when now I am getting fiber with a different provider for around £20. I am still challenging the charge as I believe it is illegal under EU laws.
Sky had no disconnection charge last year. They even refunded part of the subscription when I cancelled a bit early.

For all BT's shenanigans, when it works it work well.
I would say customer service generally depends on who you speak to and can be hit or miss, but the way the company and their system/departments are set up is a mess - it's almost like they can't talk to each other. I have spoken to some of the worst and most unhelpful customer service reps ever but also some decent ones too (the last one I spoke to was very helpful and sorted all my problems in one call).
The BT hub is probably still the best ISP router out of all I have used, but obviously not going to be comparable to a high-end router that is not atttached or locked down to any ISP. Again, when the service and router is working as it should the experience is very pleasing. Most (if not all) of the incompetence you will experience with BT will come from the company/organization itself rather than its services.

BT have the worst customer support ever! I quote "Due to not having sufficient knowledge I can not help you" Then gave a number to phone to which you have to pay a monthly subscription. I will never go with BT again

10 years with bt at my current property and with broadband quality got worse each year. the last year has seen engineers "fix" (er, they did nothing) issues monthly and often several times a month. i had bt infinity 2 with advertised 70mb download and was lucky o get 20mb it regularly dropped below 10mb.

Be prepared to do a dance to get the card when there is a technical issue with the online process. Get on the live chat, screenshot and learn patience. I finally got my £150 card this week and my TCB has been confirmed at £110 after 2 months. Worth it in the long run.

BT (Bl##dy Terrible) company. They were found guilty of failing to keep proper accounts. They sucker you in with a cheap deal, tying you up for a year. Then they will start putting there prices up here and there. They have software in the exchange that deliberately slows you down.
When broadband goes wrong or your profile needs resetting, you have to ring India, where some script kiddy will ask you to tell you to take off the wall plate and blame your computer, when the fault is in the exchange or line.
They will try and scare you off having open reach out buying saying you will have to pay a lot if the fault turns out to be inside the property.
I finnaly left them, and they still took a direct debit of more than they should. I had an email confirming there was no exit fee. Despite this when I chased for a refund there accounts depft said that my new provider had not done something right for the change over, buy would not tell me what it was.
confused BT accounts continued to bill me for 3 Months for a service they were not even providing! They even sent a letter threatening to cut me off, which my new provider said they could not do. Now BT of have presumably sold this ficticiuous debt to a debt collection agency who hound you with telephone calls and letters.
BT should have their licence revoked, they are not a fit company to be allowed to trade in my opinion.

Just had my Infinity installed from my order last month on the 11th May. when I ordered the offer was for £200 reward card. When I went to claim my reward there was no figure in the claim reward box? After hitting it I have received 2 x emails saying "Thanks for claiming your £100 BT Reward Card " One immediately after the other??
Now at the time I ordered the offer was for £200 cash back / reward card. Do you think I should phone them, or hope that they've got it right and will send 2 x £100 gift cards? Seems ominous to me, so I might call anyway. :disappointed:
What are the chances of BT making a mistake here.....? Should it definitely say £200 in the email...Duh..!..

If you are at the end of your contract with them then cancel. onced cancelled, go back and get deal as a new customer. should work.

I think that's normal with all providers. Why would you want to disconnect your line anyway? I switched my line to another provider and there was no charge.

I think it is worth mentioning that at the end of the contract they will charge you £31 to disconnect the line. Also if it happens that you want to cancel a couplle of days early they will charge you for the router.

binned BT in April as they refused to give me another deal when my previous deal expired, so be warned after 12m they get all arsey.......went back to VM paying £30 pm for my phone/100mb cable so happy with that. To also top it off, also went back to Sky for only £21.50 pm for everything!

Not that hot...They offered last month.. 200£ reward card, 80£ cashback thru quidco buy I payed instalation fees 59.90..Unlimited fibre ( upto 52MB) 12 mnths contract for 27.99 month. So actually only 9.6£/mnth. Now that was a deal :smiley:

I went for the total entertainment package. No activation fee's of any sort - just the £9.99 delivery fee. I went for the mini connectors for £20 as well though so £29.99 for me.

The router supplied by BT is rubbish. I had two of them and each one kept disconnecting from the internet at sporadic occasions, several times a day. Bought a decent router, never had a problem afterwards.

I just placed an order online. I went via topcashback as well and now have £85.00 cashback pending, plus the £125.00 mastercard gift you get within 30 days after activation. I booked in my activation date for the 20th of July but my entry date for my new property is not until July 28th, so I called up and asked this to be changed. They weren't able to change today however said that I should be able to change this 24 hours after the order has been processed, and if not then I can call them in a couple of weeks time and re-arrange for a later activation / delivery date.

no. got the letter. phoned them. took the deal with a few alterations. more or less beat all the bt deals without the complications of being a new customer, changing phone number, cashback tracking, remembering to claim card if you even get it and then spending it etc. happy to give sky the boot finally and hoping the prices bt charge are the prices I agreed to. I recorded the whole conversation too because of what I'd read about them on here.

Having just got virgin I could not be happier away from BT.
But being in W12 and not being able to get broadband through openreach (thus being limited to ADSL with BT) in 2017 is a joke.
Speed difference is ridiculous, 217 Mbps vs 3-13 Mbps is like comparing warp drive to the wheel. And for literally £10 extra a month I am kicking myself for not joining virgin sooner.
That being said pull your foot out openreach as I'll need some competition when my deal runs out!

Not a bad deal, but we recently got out of our BT contract, they were less than hopeless afraid to say. Both service & customer service were shocking.
Believe it or not, moved to Plusnet (actually run by BT) and things have been great ever since.

But being in W12 and not being able to get broadband through openreach (thus being limited to ADSL with BT) in 2017 is a joke.
