The Brother HL-3140cw Wi-Fi Colour Laser Printer is back on sale just about everywhere. The going rate is anywhere from £115 (amazon uk). Staples has it at £118.99 with free delivery (UK Mainland) but it is possible to get it for just £95.91. This brings the price to just £7 more than the Staples best price of £89 before Christmas last year, and the cheapest its been anywhere since then.
The Brother HL-3140cw is a top-of-its-class colour laser printer, with wifi and (allegedly, if someone can confirm it) duplex printing. Running costs are decent too, due to inexpensive 3rd party toner packs.
Heres how to get it for that price:
First, go through quidco to Staples site. Staples offers 12% cashback on orders over £100 with quidco. Then sign up for the Staples newsletter by email, for a £10 off code (by email) for £100+ spend.
(£118.99 - £10) - 12% cashback = £95.91

back on sale? this is not a sale price, this is the only model printer we use in our office and we buy a new one every month or so. I usually get them from BOX on Amazon and they've always been £99.

Proof?
I said it allegedly has duplex functionality. I'm well aware it has WiFi and colour printing. I even put it in the title.

Agree with the above comment. I picked this up for £100 from Amazon at the start of May.

Confirm above comments. This is NOT a deal as it's often if not always £99.

I would like to see proof of those deals as well as I've been after 2 of them or ages but missed out on the £89 Staples deal months ago. I think the last deal posted for this printer was around £150 a few months ago.

Quidco is usually on the net of VAT price.
Isn't the point that the code and cashback apply to any items you purchase, not just this printer?

No. Probably because it's cheaper to buy new than get replacement cartridges.

About 30 quid for four from Amazon- with 2000-2500 page capacity they seem very good value to me. I like Brother as they don't force you to use their own replacement cartridges.

Please could you link replacement cartridges?

Replacement cartridges should be even cheaper from ebay.
Still no proof of these having a "normal" price of £99.
Ordered at lunchtime yesterday, arrived this morning. I would advise updating the firmware immediately, and using the USB installation method, as the manual method is a bit tricky. Test prints on supermarket paper were very good quality.
This is a comparison of an original photo (left) and the same photo printed on thin grey card at the default settings. The black level is more of a dark brown but the green is pretty good. I'd like to see what it can do with high quality paper.

If it's like other Brother lasers then it has separate drums for each colour and they will need changing (and unlike the toner they're not cheap). That's the point where it's better to just buy a new one.

Looks like it works with cloudprint so works direct from Chromebooks for those that are interested, no need for a pc atatched to the network and on!

Installed one the other day for a family member and can confirm it connects directly to the router, so you can print remotely.
Android needs a brother printer plugin downloaded from the app store, but it took a few minutes to set up and print with no instructions.
Can't say I tried duplex though..

This does not have Duplex printing. No D in the Model Number.

It doesn't do automatic duplex, but does a 'manual' version. Not a cheap price as it can be bought from Printerland at £113.
I think the 8250CDW is a better buy as the toner cartridges are up to 5 X the size. Also this machine like to tell you the Toners are empty when they are half full ! There is a youtube video on resetting them until they really do run out, and then how to refill them.

The reason I posted this is because further savings are available via the £10 discount voucher and quidco cashback. As someone else said, the cashback is on the pre-vat (nett) price, but seeing as how Staples is meant to cater for businesses, the vat can be claimed back as well.

I received mine yesterday - I ordered it from Very at £89.99 after a £30 discount code they'd sent me. I've been watching this particular model for a few months and it hasn't been going this cheaply for a while.
Set up was really simple - I followed the 'quick start' guide and within 5 mins had it printing over my wifi connection from a PC, and it worked with an iphone without any need for installation. Print quality seems great, and I'm hoping the toners will last a while with normal home use, with cheap replacements.
If anybody can recommend a compatible toner replacement that would be fab - I know there are plenty available but I guess some are better than others.

Great deal you got there pandda. I've had a few £50 off a £100 spend vouchers from Very but the last one was in March so I wouldn't have been able to get that deal myself. Any other Very customers here should check their inbox for a voucher. £90 inc. del. is an excellent deal for this printer.
And thank you for confirming that this printer hasn't been anywhere near this price for months.

I've got half a dozen accounts from the old days when they had as many different companies, and I find that if I don't order for ages they eventually send out decent codes!
Yes, not seen any great price drops for a while. I took the recommendation for this model on a thread about the mono Ricohs that are always cheap and have been keeping an eye out for a while but any time I've looked it's been around £110-120 on Amazon, although I may have missed any short-term price drops.

I've had the 3150CDW (Colour Duplex Wireless) for over a year now from Currys on offer at £129 & it's been faultless. I'm only now having to replace toners. Trying to work out alternative cheaper non-Brother cartridges.
The 3140CW I assume is not duplex. But still seems a good deal to me. Heat added

If you have any success with the toners, please do let me know! I'm loving the printer so far, simplest wireless printer I've ever had to set up and although the print quality is fairly average, the ease of use is great and it's more than adequate for printing travel docs, kids homework etc. Planning on having a spare set of toners waiting but not worked them out yet!
Yeah, I've done that, but a recommendation would be better than just going for the cheapest, and I've not had time to trawl through Amazon reviews, so anybody who's already had a good set and is prepared to take 20 seconds to recommend them would be a saint! Have you used these ones yourself? If so and they're ok then I'll give them a whirl!

Agreed, Panddda, I've never been one to dive in on the first thing I find or the cheapest. Always best to do your homework first. Re-filling the original toners yourself is another option too.

I agree about refilling yourself. But it isn't usually a job for the faint-hearted or novice.

Looks like £99 isn't 'normal', but it does drop to that level (or less) reasonably often.
