I've had both plastic and metal. The metal one holds its heat for about 2 hours I find but for the first 20 minutes or so the liquid is kept at a scalding temperature making it undrinkable for me. The plastic one cools down much faster but that makes it easier to drink immediately.
The metal one holds up better visually over time as the plastic one can be prone to scratching.

I had a couple of these but both broke (although I did drop them!) they are ok but don't keep your drink hot for any length of time I'd say an hour tops.

I bought the metal one, two and a half years ago and it is still going strong. Got it on special offer for a tenner.

Worth looking in store too, I got one for £3 in my local store 2 weeks ago.
Also bear in mind they don't fit in standard car cupholders.

They had these in store for £6 last weekend at the Tesco's Batley West Yorkshire. Personally i would pay the extra and go for the one with the metal bottom.

This is very true. Scalded myself a few times with the stainless steel bistro :smirk:. They keep it hot far too long

I got a red metal one a couple years ago with a cafeteria thing in a deal. There is no comparison with the rubbish plastic cup, its rubbish

Don't get the plastic ones. Weird taste from the plastic, and cracks/scratches easily.

Metal ones are better, and were £12 in home sense.

If you drink tea with milk I recommend glass. We got given these plastic ones at work and sent them back after a day due to leakage and one of the lids broke. Metal ones will burn your milk due to heat retention and you'll end up with a dark patch floating on your tea and a funny taste.

I've got one that keeps my drink hot for around 7-8 hours. Bloody annoying! When do I get to drink it??

Have the metal one but it's so good the tea is still to hot to drink at the end of the 45 minute commute so this type will be perfect

I have the steel cafetiere version of this. It's fantastic; the only spill-proof and near indestructible cup that fits on the cup holder on the handlebars of my bike.
Don't confuse them with the cheaper plastic version that breaks easily.
The only downside is that they don't fit in the cup-holders in my car.
EDIT. these are the plastic version. Not so good.

I have had a metal one for a few years and is pretty decent. Goes in the dishwasher too.
Good for using at work but I wouldn't travel on the train with it. Its not fully leakproof.
Decent price.

A heads up - the plastic ones (these one) are terribly flimsy and dont last - i went through two in quick succession... BUT the steel ones keep going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going....

Keep mine in the car after taking dags a walk in winter. Not as good as a flask, but retains heat long enough for me. Good price.

dunno this is maybe crazy but for the people complaining it keeps it too hot... maybe add a little cold water?
