Note that these are the older versions without the magnetic docking station. Still, looks like a very good price!

What's the benefit of a magnetic docking station?

Unfortunately, these still need the chat cable for the Xbox One. Gen 3 are the ones that are truly wireless. Still, good price if you need a multi-platform headset.

I need to know!
I'm thinking of buying these to replace my astro a40s from the olden days.
I'm assuming the magnetic stand doesn't affect sound quality or headset performance.

I had these and the sound is amazing, but... you sound like a darlek because it has huge mic issues. I took mine back because everyone complained every time I said anything.
MY ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY FROM THESE UNLESS YOU DONT USE THE MIC.

My mic is fine (gen3) I have heard that some people have had problems though.

Good price but beware that these suffer from the dreaded freezing issue. my mate bought this exact model and suffered the same issues as my black/blue set. They will randomly freeze up and you can't use them until the battery fully drains so you can charge them up again.
Needless to say that it is incredibly frustrating when you are just about to start a gaming session with your friends and it happens.
However, it seems to affect random sets so it's a complete lottery.

I think that would be a great improvement for some people!

I've had my a50's for a a couple of years and the have been faultless.
I don't have the magnetic stand though, I have the gravity one.
Great price for a brilliant headset.

Hi I bought myself turtle beach 800x for my xbox one but can't get them to work with my pc for game sound and chat. Are these a50s gonna work with the pc? I did Google but any personal experience would greatly appreciated Cheers

Looks good - wish I could warrant spending this much on another headset! Are these comfortable? As a glasses wearer its like gold dust finding something that can stand up to a 6+ hour game session without being migraine inducing

I wear glasses and I've used astro a40s (which I believe is the same headset in structure) since the days of Black Ops 1
I find them extremely comfortable and wish I'd paid the extra and bought them sooner instead of wasting money on cheaper headsets, Tritton and Turtle beach.

I've recently bought at A50 Gen 3 (ones with the docking station) and they're awesome, but can be expensive, but managed to get a pair from CEX of all places who also give a 2 year Warranty, for the excellent price of £130, as appose to Amazon £246 or Argos £280.
As for the Chat, I'd heard of problems, but haven't had any problems with mine at all but believe they cured the issue with firmware updates, although only had them 2 weeks, but friends say I sound fine.
Also I did buy the Xbox/PC version as you need to purchase a different version for PlayStation/PC.

Almost bought these yesterday at 140 from the same place. Took a punt on them for that price. Not fussed about magnetic charging.

I had the gen3 version with the docking station terrible piece of kit you would think you just slot the headset in and bobs you uncle nope its the most fiddly piece of kit to get your headset charging pain in the a$$.
Cant fault the headset though.

Good Price for Astros - personally prefer the Turtle Beach Stealth 420X+... fully wireless, sound and mic are great and about the same price..currently £118 in amazon. If you are a rainbow six siege / bf1 /4 player the "superhuman" hearing mode is amazing, changes the sound to focus on ambient sounds like enemy footsteps / weapon reloads etc

Apologies, my emphasis would just be that these are the older version A50s, with the magnetic dock only available with the latest 3rd Gen version. My understanding is that the later gen models have improvements over the older versions.I certainly couldn't imagine them being over £100 worth of improvements mind!

Ah ok, well I'm currently using 6/7 year old astro a40s and I'm very happy with the sound/mic/build quality of them.
I bought these a few hours ago because if they're an improvement in any way over my a40s I'll be more than happy

Swapped my A50s for SteelSeries Siberia 800s. Best gaming decision ever. Would never go back to Astro.

I had two pairs of Astro A40's that didn't last the year. Thankfully with Argos I was able to return for a new pair. It wouldn't put me off buying another pair tho. I would get these if I had the money.

a stupid question, but even though it says built for x-bone, they will work on ps4 as well won't they?

These are the older gen , good price though I have the gen3 with the base station and had no issues and in party chat the mic is superb I recommend spending a little extra, also they have just released a budget headset which has the workings of an a40 for about £55 from astros site, worth looking at...

I just wish my G930s were xbox compatible, a good headset does really make all the difference sometimes. I have a decent set of speakers hooked up, but when you're using chat they're less than ideal.

Do yourself a favour and buy the steelseries siberia 800 's . I have had Three pairs of astros, sound quality is great from both but on the siberia you get 2 batteries (You can swap) and theres no issues, also the spare battery is always charging inside the hub. The astros are just so cheaply made and badly designed. Siberias are just so amazing and thought out with the gamer in mind, no going back for me.

Strange, many people find astros well made and well designed.
You believe they're not thought out with the gamer in mind??
