Or you can get the new 10.5" (64GB) from Apple using NUS Extra for £588.
I'd definitely go for the 10.5" as it's truely a powerful beast.
It has 4GB RAM vs 2GB in the 9.7" and the Apple A10X processor vs A9X in this one the A10X is incredibly powerful infact more powerful than Intels lastest Laptop CPUs in benchmarks.and comes with 120Hz refresh rate which is a game changer for fluidity, and fast smooth scrolling.
The 9.7" is still nice & powerful and you get 2 years Warranty with JL but for less than £40 more you can get the 10.5" with is a beast of a "tablet".

Just 2 weeks ago I took back an Apple smart keyboard that stopped working after 19 months.Took it to my local JL store where they guy seen it wasn't working and within 5 minutes he had handed me over a brand new one,and a bonus was that it was the new UK keyboard, where my original one was a first generation model that was a US keyboard.
Fast forward one week and I found myself back at JL with my new 2017 ipad pro because there was a small mark on the frame from new out of the box.Again I was offered a replacement straight away or a VERY decent partial refund if I was to keep it.

I have this iPad. It works well for now, but my suggestion would be to go for the larger screened ones because they come with 4GB memory. Trust me, the biggest factor in how well an iPad will run apps in a couple of years time is how much memory it has. I've been bitten by this with past iPhones and iPads. Apple are terrible for limiting the RAM and then releasing more OS bloat down the road which maxes it out and everything grinds to a crawl.

I can absolutely concur with mcnabb, I was going to buy the Ipad pro 10.5 64GB model yesterday. Signed up for the credit account, and discovered that the above code doesn't seem to account for the Pro 10.5 being electrical and gives 20% off, so went for the larger storage model 256GB, space grey, wifi, and yup £567. Plus £3.95 delivery, and got 12 month interest free credit*.
Would've used this deal otherwise, but 20% off the latest model isn't something I could turn down! Got a dispatch confirmation 2 hours ago too so looks like all has gone through.
*Very says they allow you to pay off in any amounts you wish... just pay the full amount off before the 12 months are up or 39.9% apr is going to add up very quickly!!

To be fair, Apple sold the iPad 2 for a while after the iPad 3 vanished from its store, so it was to be expected that its support would probably outlast that of the stopgap iPad 3.
Although that iteration got the least love from Apple, it came with iOS 5.1 and got four major OS updates. I am guessing the hi-res screen coupled with only 1GB of RAM would probably have turned iOS 10 into a lagfest. It was starting to creak and stutter on my iPhone 5s if that is any consolation.
Not sure if there are many five year old Android devices running Marshmallow or Nougat competently either.

Appalling Trustpilot reviews (https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.johnlewis.com) poor customer service, high prices for most things, and a 'Never Knowingly Undersold' policy that's been proved to be rigged. What's not to like?

Dont trust John lewis- their guarantee is worthless in my opinion: I used to be a big fan of John Lewis and their so called 'warranty' until I bought a Lenovo tablet for my son a while a while ago (from JL) -and he had an accident and cracked the screen. However this didnt affect the tablet and it still worked for many months after and then one day it just stopped working. WeI took it back to JL as it was still in guarantee- and after initially suggesting I should clap my son around the ear for it(!) they took it off me and said I should hear back within a week- 4 weeks later I hadnt heard so I phoned- they said it could take upto 28 'working days'-(isnt that 4 weeks if they're open everyday?). After several calls trying to chase progress and speaking to floor manager (General Store managers by the way dont talk to customers- they are required at higher levels)- I got a call from customer services in Exeter(?) to say they were still waiting for the tablet from the store so they couldnt give me an update! I was speechless and then a staff member from the Sheffield store phoned me a couple of hours later to say they had now received feedback from Medion and the tablet couldnt be repaired uner warranty as the cracked screen was classes ad accidental damage- I explained that it had previously worked despite cracked screen- but they were not willing to even look at it unless i was prepared to pay for the repair.I asked for the tablet back to get a second opinionb and she promised to get it back to me by Wedsnesday 28/06- which was the '28 working day'. Guess what? I didnt get a call on Wednesday nor Thursday/Friday. Eventually got a call on Sat. 01/07- 3 days after telling me to come and pick up the damaged unrepaired unhandled tablet up.
So much for JL service and guarantee!

he is talking about the "beta" version, which means it's not the final version and just for trying out as it could have bugs and issues, so it's just for demonstration and testing new features but it;'s not the final and official release yet.

It seems like a lot to spend on last year's tech. I'm not going to lie and say, "it's rubbish", but when you're spending 'that kind of money', might as well be on the latest with the newer SoC, better display and everything else that goes along with it. Otherwise at the very least you're losing a year of updates/speed at the long-term end.

Just tried through iTunes too and got the same thing
EDIT: Ignore me - I hadn't installed the profile hence it didn't offer the update. All sorted now!
he is talking about the "beta" version, which means it's not the final version and just for trying out as it could have bugs and issues, so it's just for demonstration and testing new features but it;'s not the final and official release yet.
the process of getting the "beta" is different than what you normally do to update.
Will it be a update that's required via iTunes?

If you really need 256GB then the new model with 10% off will be £638

Personally, I'm waiting for a deal on the 2017 model i.e. the A10 X processor.
