I have actually asked Mr Newell in a youtube page convo (he ripped Linus a new one),& from what I can gather, HL3 is now so late they would have to mess about with it to run post Windows 7.Or something.
It was a bit cryptic.
I gathered dont hold your breath.

Right, dumb question but the spec says system requirement recommended - Windows xp. Will I have any issue using Win 10? I have a steam account but until now not seen anything I wanted, studio not sure how it works with retro games.

Half Life games work fine, at least the source engine ones definitely do (so Half Life: Source, HL2, ep1, ep2). The Source engine was still being updated until recently with the last update being in 2014.

Not a dumb question, and you'll have no problems.

The sad reality is that most of the talent behind HL have now left Valve so there next to no chance of HL3 ever coming out.

Half Life 2 is quite possibly the best single player FPS I've ever played.

Can I also suggest Left4Dead and L4D2, and Portal 1 and 2?
GL;HF. And prepare yourself. While the graphics of HL1 haven't held up brilliantly, it's still atmospheric and was instrumental in the genre. If you can't stick it, that's a shame, but jump into HL2.
HL2 and the episodes (ep 2 especially) are masterpieces of emotive storytelling. You'll see why gamers still claw at hope for another installment even after all these years. Time... Dr Freeman?
L4D and L4D2 are multi-player survival horror FPS filtered and distilled. Team up with friends or fellow HUKDers and try to stay alive.
Portal and its sequel are superlative FPS puzzlers that had me crying with laughing. They abuse classical physics to rewire your brain. But with a twisted sense of humor.
After a few hours, you WILL be thinking with Portals. As you go to the supermarket, you'll find yourself wondering if you could get enough momentum to get THERE with a portal OVER THERE and jumping off the roof into a portal HERE.
I'm PCMR (HL2 was why I built my first gaming rig). I played the some of those on XB360 to joins my mates for multiplayer though. Think I'll be rebuying those games at those prices...
