Cracking price for a well spec'd 4K monitor. Was this price back in March and hasn't been dropped since, but eBuyer have flicked the switch for today's daily deal. (excited)
An Acer RT0 monitor looks remarkably slim because it's thinner than a thin smartphone and it also has a very thin frame. This minimalist beauty combines with the elegance of the T-shaped metal stand for a stylish monitor that fits seamlessly in any space.

All you guys talking about being crap because it's 60Hz. It's 4K. What GPU's are you running?

Whoa! I'm excited too! OP - why should I buy this over the £199.99 electriQ 4k 28" on laptops direct? Just give me a reason! I want it!

Man, regret buying the Samsung 4k monitor for £270 on Laptops Direct yesterday! Due to be delivered in 10 minutes as well.
Oh well, there's always a better deal round the corner.
And to the guy asking for reason to buy over the cheap looking electriQ, I would argue the design is enough reason to justify. Would you prefer your office/desk set up to have the horrible cheap plastic of electriQ screen or this?

Nice, though FreeSync is only on the DP input and the FreeSync range is only 40-60Hz (and so no Low Framerate Compensation).

TN is the killer for this deal sadly, not 144HZ. There is nor a GPU that can decently run 4K games at 144Hz nor the price that would be suitable. It doesn't really exist yet, maybe later in the year. But expect prices £1000+

Acer rubbish. Don't say I didn't warn you when it starts developing faults and you get zero help from Acer. Terrible company best avoided. It will cost you more in money, time and frustration in the long run.

I agree, I have owned 3 Acer laptops in my life time and none of them last longer than 1 year. They all fall to bits and Acer refuse to do anything about them. The amount of times i've had to do repairs on them it totals to a fortune. I currently however own one of their 4K 24 inch monitors and it's been fine so far. Fingers crossed it'll last longer than those laptops did

It does on my 1280 which I got from 2019 or the budget 1450Ti in 2021. That one only uses 50w and is amazing!

You will have no regrets - your Samsung will still be working beautifully in 12, 24, 36 months time. You'd be well onto another monitor by then if you had the Acer.

Most 4K PC screens are TN - and for a reason.
60hz is it, not only are there no 4K screens that can run faster, you need a grunty gfx card to get anywhere near 60Hz; it hasnt been that long since 30Hz was the 4K limit, so stop moaning.
Acer are a MOTR brand, (middle of the road), most of their stuff is decent, but a bit light-weight; look after it and it is reliable; even Samsung put out duff stuff though.
28"@4K means you either have to sit very close, or have the eyes of a young eagle; this is a young persons screen, I wouldnt be able to read text, even with my glasses on, whereas 28"@1080p means I can read text without my glasses and still lean back in my chair when I want to watch a film.

Just a general comment about variable refresh panels - *IF* for gaming and not pro work, PLEASE don't assume TN = bad. It's simplistically rubbish advice. Read reviews for the model in question; TN panels are not the same as 10 years ago. If you like f.lux on PC the colour shifting will not bother you much, if at all. I went from an overclocked 75Hz Samsung IPS 1080p panel to a AOC G Sync 1080p 144Hz TN panel and after calibration (found a review online), there is no way in hell I'd go back willingly. Refresh rate/variable refresh is FAR more noticeable and important. Colour accuracy in particular is not a big issue on modern, quality TN panels.

Young persons screen - don't be daft. Just because your eyesight is not very good, don't speak for the rest of us Old Eagles. I can tell the difference between 1080p and 4K material and don't need to be sat that close.

How are you guys running 4k at 60hz anyway? I've pretty much given up wth the hastle over finding a reasonably priced graphics card that supports HDMI 2 or Displayport, or a cheapish motherboard with HDMI 2 output. And of course none of the 4k TV's have Displayport anyway so you need an active adapter there and it's a struggle to find if the TV's have a HDMI 2 input. It's all terribly frustrating to my aging brain.

Most of the verified customer reviews on Amazon.de are poor, unfortunately. I can't find a review on any of my preferred review sites, or elsewhere. Perhaps Acer weren't keen to send out review samples but it is at least cheap. In that it's £20 cheaper than anywhere else I can find it, have some more heat.

To drive frame rates from say a, Rx 480. You would need to probably go down to around medium/high settings. Each game is different of course. A 480 is a 4k30 card, some game may only hit 20-30fps on ultra 4k, but these are poorly optimised games.
At this resolution this card is comfortably GPU bound, meaning any modern cpu will do.

Old question. Which is better. 4k with medium settings or 1080p on ultra? Heard both sides! Some say ultra graphics little difference to medium and also don't need anti aliaising on 4k. Others day 1080p ultra better than mediim low 4k! I have an rx 470 and 1080p aoc IPS monitor. Thanks!

I would rather play on minimum settings at a native resolution than play at a lower one with highest settings. If the blurry image that I've always got from different displays made me take that choice.

I used to think that, but the PS4 pro quickly changed my mind.
For that reason I'm going to end up gaming on a 1080p monitor as opposed to my 4k Sammy. The sharpness is nice, but it reveals all the faults that 1080p textures have when you're gaming at 4k. Only Horizon has managed to overcome this.
Supersampled 1080p looks better for the most part.
