New gift card offer that went live today. Very rare to get any kind of decent discount on John Lewis & Waitrose or Currys gift cards so 12.5% is very decent. Given these companies usually price match competitor offers this is a very good bonus on top.
Deal as follows:
- Morrisons are offering 5000 More points instore on £50 denomination gift cards for John Lewis (which includes Waitrose), Currys, and M&S. You will also get 1250 base points. Please note it needs to be on the £50 denomination gift cards.
- So 6250 points in total for a £50 john Lewis + Waitrose/Currys/M&S gift card, equivalent of 12.5% return on spend.
- Maximum points earn in a calendar month is 100,000 points (worth £100). If you purchased £800 John Lewis/Waitrose gift cards in £50 denominations you would get £100 Morrison's vouchers. If you purchase £200 John Lewis gift cards in £50 denominations you would get £25 of Morrisons vouchers.
- Once you have 5000 points you can redeem for a £5 voucher to use in Morrisons. Plenty of deals to use at Morrisons
p.s. when you buy the gift cards check your receipt. If the points do not show in 'Total More Points earned today' go to customer service and get them to manually add the points.

Would think the deal for JL is with the card provider not the stores.
Most of these cards you see are provided to supermarkets etc by a middle man company who go to all the gift card providers. Then they sell them all under one banner for a percentage of the sale.

If anyone is buying more then 1 gift cards for their chosen retailer make sure that retailer accepts multiple gift cards when making a purchase. I bought 5 £50 house of Fraser gift cards a few years and there system would only let me use 3 per transaction. It worked okay for me as I was able to split it into smaller transaction.
If however I was to buy a item for £300 I would have only been able to use £150 and the rest would have had to been payed by cash. Hope this makes sense and saves someone a lot of hassle

I'm afraid it's on the Premium card which costs £195 - I was told about this recently, and basically the person saying how good it was used it for all his purchasing, and then also bought some Avios from eBay? then used the points and the free companion flight for 2x First Class flights for £500! They had to be flexible, so for example they had to fly to Hong Kong in order to holiday in that part of the world, but the point was he was getting £10,000 of flights for £500.
There are hoops though, like having to spend £10,000 and paying £195 for the card, but if you travel a lot or spend a lot! then it might work for a cheap way of flying 1st Class.
Currently if you spent said £10k, you'd get 15,000 bonus Avios plus I guess 15,000 actual Avois (1.5 per £1), so 30,000.
I don't quite see how he only paid £500 for 1St Class, but he was so adamant I don't doubt he did, I just don't see how it works.
Yes, its a well known tactic
Another it to book refundable hotel rooms 'o)
bojangles
6 Jun 17#70
He would also need the required amount of Avios Miles
204,000 return for first class& £500 each in taxes to Hong Kong.
He would have got 30,000 bonus miles when first having his card & another 15,000 by spending £10k (1.5avios per£)
So he would have to have bought 155,000 miles.
If you can buy airmiles for 1p per point - then that is a good deal for a 241 voucher. £1550 in this case!
But there are tons of way to collect avios. converting £2.50 worth of clubcards into 600 avios miles for example. Then there are online shopping portals, topcashback lets you exchange to avios, etc.

I'm probably being stupid here, but points from Morri's don't total beyond 5000. Once you reach 5000 I always get a fiver voucher next time I shop. Except recently when I had to complain, did a 40 quid shop and it said I'd get 5000 pts (fiver - always given as a voucher). I didn't get my 5000 pts. I have now after a fortnight of complaining.
So, how if above you've just got 12,500 pts added next time you shop in Morri's you'll get 2 fiver vouchers (nothing for the 500 as that goes towards collecting another 5000 pts. Or have I missed something?

I just came back from localMorrison. Bought £800 worth of JL cards after a big argument with the check out staff. I ended up having to warn her to watch her attitude..

6 Jun 171#94
I think this is an anti fraud measure, a manager has to authorise the purchase even if you go to a manned checkout.. I had to do this as when I went in the morning, they said I could only buy 2, unless it was for charity. I rang up their customer service helpline who said no, it just needed a manager to authorise. Some staff do not know this ,
Chanchi32
6 Jun 17#95
I think you're right. I remember last year going to self checkout with some Amazon gift cards and thought it was a bit easy e.g. no additional checks. The staff member nearby commented to me, I hope you're not going to run off without paying like the person earlier
Did 2 gift cards through self scan yesterday and the authorisation check came up so definitely tightened up security but doesn't affect the offer.

Im a bit thick when it comes to these sort of deals.
So I want to buy a £530 laptop from currys.
I walk into morrisons and buy 10 x £50 gift cards (totaling £500). Meaning I would get £62.50 of morrisons points money.
Can I pay at one till in one transaction, ie pay the whole £500 in one go. Or do I have to put the gift cards through separately, one by one?
And where do the points go? Do I have to open up a morrisons points account before I buy the gift cards and then get the morrisons card scanned at the till so the points get added? Will the points all get added to one account?
Once the points are added I can go straight back in and spend them?
Thanks
owenjt
7 Jun 171#109
As is my understanding (someone please correct me if this is wrong):
You have to buy the gift cards individually or get the managers approval (apparently an anti fraud measure). You can get a Morrisons points card in-store and then make your purchase - the points will be added to your account. Alternatively if you get a card later on you can use the receipts to get the points added to the card at customer services. Once the points are added you can spend them (believe you get vouchers at the checkout or you can just use your card).
Note that as per a previous post, Currys website only accepts 5 gift cards, so you'll only be able to redeem £250.

I went to buy 7 x £50 John Lewis gift cards but the lady at the till said I was limited to one. I spoke to the manager. He then rang head office who confirmed that it was one per customer!! How annoying, I'll need to go back several times to different cashiers to get them. This was at the Bolton branch.
Does anyone know whether they sell them at the Morrisons petrol stations? I also went to a smaller Morrisons where the staff were clueless about the offer.

8 Jun 17#119
I would have asked them to see a copy of the promotional terms and conditions where it states is limited to one, cuts through the misinformation from people who just seem to make up a response.
Btw I don't think they have any terms for this offer as could not see any instore!

8 Jun 171#120
Thanks Chanchi. I thought as much, staff at head office decided they want it to be one per customer. I didn't want to make too much of a fuss as I knew I'd need to go back to that store several times to pick up the rest of the cards. The staff were lovely, but a bit clueless.

8 Jun 17#121
I bought some Currys cards in a couple of branches yesterday with mixed results...
One store sold me £2800 - after the checkout wouldn't let the cashier process more than one card the store manager got involved and he telephoned head office who said it was fine if I was paying by card with chip and pin and that it was a fraud prevention measure.
Same scenario at the checkout in a second store but this time an internal call to the store manager resulted in a refusal, I didn't bother taking it any further and asking them to check with head office.
Today I picked up £1800 of John Lewis vouchers from another store and they all went straight through at the checkout without any issue or quantity restrictions.
It seems that not only are people getting different results and information in store but also that head office seem to be giving out different information as well so if you do end up having to ask them to check their terms then things could go either way :\

Earn 5 Morrisons More Points for every £1 you spend in store and online*
Earn 5 Morrisons More Points for every £1 you spend at Morrisons Café
Earn 25 Morrisons More Points for every £1 you spend on Gift Cards in store

I used self checkout and did 1 by 1 just in case. I spent there 10min but got them all.

Use self checkout and do 1 by 1. As those cards are very light, scales is not always picking those up as placed in the bagging area. drop another one on top then. remember which one is scanned and which one is just a ballast to process that in the next transaction.

Finally managed to get £700 (wanted £800 but they ran out). Haven't got my morrisons card yet and no temporary ones in store so will have to add later.
My receipts don't mention points but spoke to head office and apparently they don't? Store said to come back when I've got the card and they'll add them.

to be fair if that happened I would insist on the manager sorting it with head office there and then. any reasonable person would not expect such a restriction. what if I was asking family to help me buy a TV and to all give £50 cards - it's non sensible.
plus, I paid about 10 of them last time in Curry's with no issue.
Opening post
If the points do not show in 'Total More Points earned today' go to customer service and get them to manually add the points.

if online then combine with waitrose money off first order offers and mega savings
good point - current new account offer - £15 off £100 1st shop, £25 off £100 2nd shop
http://www.waitrose.com/content/waitrose/en/home/groceries/40-off-2-DIG-1.html
So £40 off discount codes and get a further £25 of Morrisons vouchers from buying £200 gift cards (4 x £50 denominations)
p.s. worth checking you're receipt - should receive 6250 points per £50 gift card which shows on the bottom of the receipt, if it doesn't show go to customer service and they will manually add on
Am I right in think this is effectively £6 back from a £25 voucher? (pretty much 25% off?)
Can get straight cash discount at Tesco on Google Gift Cards, posted by Morgie

Just checked my Morrisons more card account and the 12,500 points are showing from the purchase of the 2 x 50 John Lewis gift card purchases earlier
Thanks!
Most of these cards you see are provided to supermarkets etc by a middle man company who go to all the gift card providers. Then they sell them all under one banner for a percentage of the sale.
If however I was to buy a item for £300 I would have only been able to use £150 and the rest would have had to been payed by cash. Hope this makes sense and saves someone a lot of hassle
Thanks
Can I pick one up in store?
otherwise these cards will just knock about in your wallet/handbag for months and months on end - possibly expiring
These gift cards are not for run of the mill shops where you'd use the credit relatively quickly.

Another it to book refundable hotel rooms 'o)
204,000 return for first class& £500 each in taxes to Hong Kong.
He would have got 30,000 bonus miles when first having his card & another 15,000 by spending £10k (1.5avios per£)
So he would have to have bought 155,000 miles.
If you can buy airmiles for 1p per point - then that is a good deal for a 241 voucher. £1550 in this case!
But there are tons of way to collect avios. converting £2.50 worth of clubcards into 600 avios miles for example. Then there are online shopping portals, topcashback lets you exchange to avios, etc.
So, how if above you've just got 12,500 pts added next time you shop in Morri's you'll get 2 fiver vouchers (nothing for the 500 as that goes towards collecting another 5000 pts. Or have I missed something?
Did 2 gift cards through self scan yesterday and the authorisation check came up so definitely tightened up security but doesn't affect the offer.
Thanks OP.
Online it is showing the 12,500 points, and shows the "vouchers" in the top right. Will it spit them out when I go in today?
Usually, it spits them out as I go along.
EDIT: The Terms & Conditions state:
Interestingly it also says 'you will not receive More Points' on......... gift vouchers, gift cards.
Has anyone successfully used their More Vouchers to buy more gift cards?
So I want to buy a £530 laptop from currys.
I walk into morrisons and buy 10 x £50 gift cards (totaling £500). Meaning I would get £62.50 of morrisons points money.
Can I pay at one till in one transaction, ie pay the whole £500 in one go. Or do I have to put the gift cards through separately, one by one?
And where do the points go? Do I have to open up a morrisons points account before I buy the gift cards and then get the morrisons card scanned at the till so the points get added? Will the points all get added to one account?
Once the points are added I can go straight back in and spend them?
Thanks
You have to buy the gift cards individually or get the managers approval (apparently an anti fraud measure). You can get a Morrisons points card in-store and then make your purchase - the points will be added to your account. Alternatively if you get a card later on you can use the receipts to get the points added to the card at customer services. Once the points are added you can spend them (believe you get vouchers at the checkout or you can just use your card).
Note that as per a previous post, Currys website only accepts 5 gift cards, so you'll only be able to redeem £250.
JL confirm to accept multiple cards per transaction.
Went in today and got my 2 x £5 till spit Morrison Fivers from the 2x £50 vouchers I bought yesterday.
Don't use Morrisons much so assume next time I buy something it spits out a load of vouchers, or can I simply use them for my next purchase?
Does anyone know whether they sell them at the Morrisons petrol stations? I also went to a smaller Morrisons where the staff were clueless about the offer.
Btw I don't think they have any terms for this offer as could not see any instore!

My receipts don't mention points but spoke to head office and apparently they don't? Store said to come back when I've got the card and they'll add them.
