This was £34.99 the other day, now the lowest it's been. Couldn't see this posted at this price.

All, really sorry but in the end my tap leaked too when I filled it with leftover paddling pool water last yesterday. So this is shoddy. However I have a fix (which you shouldn't need but the reviews were right) - I used plumbers gold sealant around the thread and screwed the tap back in, put some around the front of the seal and it doesn't leak today.

This is a great deal, shame about the general build quality, the B&Q deal sounds better for the same price
I know someone with a water meter, there lives have turned upside down from having £400 odd quid bills to over £1200 per year, they have been trying to do everything from flushing the toilet less to recycling water, they cannot have the meter reversed and recently after 2 years of complaining the water company have admitted the meter is faulty. Its a similar story when gas was switched to meters and, over 10% of UK gas meters are inaccurate (for the person who asks for proof do a search and look at a website called: which).

When was gas not metered? Agree though, some meters are faulty and dealing with most water companies is like pulling teeth... I'm with Anglian water, who for some reason are over 50% more expensive than a neighbouring water region, privatisation doesn't really work if you're still stuck with one supplier.

The B&Q one is the same as this one. Amazon price matched B&Q.

these take up a lot of room.
I got rid of one this size for a slim one.

I have found the slim one does not hold enough water, fills up when it rains and drains when watering the garden.

What sort of pressure do you get with a full one compared with the mains?

Why not buy two of these - one for each downpipe - and you'll get twice as far through the next drought!

How easy is it to connect two downpipes to one water butt?
The best for one of these to go in my garden is next to two downpipes (one from the garage roof and one from the conservatory). Would it be worth trying to feed from both or is one likely to be sufficient?

The barrels usually come with a feed hole already drilled, ready for the input pipe. If you want to add a second feed, you'd need to drill a second hole. When the water level is reached, excess rainwater carries on down into the drain, not the barrel. So you'd also need to make sure they are both at exactly the same height - otherwise, the water from one may block the input from the other.
I suggest you start with one, using the drainage from the longest guttering. You might decide on a smaller (and cheaper) second one if your runoff from your conservatory is less than from the garage.

Thanks op. Just ordered one. We recently had a meter fitted and will move to metered billing in about one and a half years time.
Just before we move over to metered billing, I will fill the butt with my hose pipe. (unintentional innuendo)

If all you want is a water container use a local authority waste or recycling wheely bin larger capacity no leaks and if you are superman you could try wheeling it around your garden!

do you have to be a seven trent customer?
Also, they charge a fee for returns so could work out quite expensive should there be a problem.
