We (family of 4) spent 3 weeks at Easter travelling throughout Egypt from Cairo to Luxor and then onto Hurghada. We felt safe the entire time, the locals are friendly and given the reduced numbers of tourists all the major sights were much easier to appreciate. I can understand nervousness, but we reasoned that the worst can happen anywhere these days, and wasn't going to let that keep us at home and miss out on seeing this incredible country

Yep, Thomas Cook have already cancelled all it's Sharm El Sheikh holiday bookings for the winter of 2017/2018 and Summer 2018 as well as it's flights there.

I do yes. If it is safety related maybe I should go to Paris, London or Manchester instead..... Oh hold on...
You are aware that both the us and Canada warn about travel to the UK.

Are you idiots really moaning about safety in other countries when our POS is getting bombed and attacked every other week?
Wtf much!

I've been to Egypt 11 times over the years (Naama Bay, Napq and Hurgharda) and I'd take the 5 star rating with a pinch of salt.

Hurghada is a nice beach resort city, great beaches, hotels, and night life too. Hotel staff treat tourists much better than nationals, so deal is worth it. I prefer Sharm el-sheikh though.

Why and how do hotel staff treat tourists much better than nationals?! Doesn't make sense!
How does that make the deal "worth it" ?!

I totally agree. Money before security out there I'm afraid, such is the life of dire poverty and eternal hopelessness.

"There is no FCO advice against travel to Cairo, Alexandria, the tourist areas along the Nile river (including Luxor, Qina, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Valley of the Kings) and the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada."

We're going to France next month so searched France that on there too and it states similar vigilance is advised so it seems to be everywhere. Had a similar discussion with a friend who's going to Marrakesh she was anxious but its everywhere you either decide to go on holiday or you don't. Personally it wouldn't and won't stop me visiting new places x

Went to Egypt back in 2010, other than the military check points it felt rather touristy!
A lots happened since then but I doubt its any less safe than a city break in London these days :/ ...

Yeah.... Latest travel advice doesn't look good for Egypt...
Obviously, the Nile Cruise and stay aren't in the areas directly affected... But still...
Traditionally we used to go to Egypt for a winter break (I dive), but for the last 2 years we've not been, nor have I been tempted to.
Personal choice, but a cheap holiday isn't a good reason to endanger yourself - spend some more money and be at ease, I'm not sure I could relax.

I've booked a few holidays with these people, we went to a Christmas market with them last year and it was amazing think it cost us just under £200 for 3 nights. I've also bought a few items from them only ever had an issue with the patio heater I bought last summer but they collected it and sent a replacement within a few days so can't complain x
