Please be careful with these, they are quite poorly constructed in my opinion. I met a man wrapped from head to toe in bandages, covered in burns. He'd got the gas bottle in wrong, his tent porch had filled with gas and when he pressed the igniter, boom.

Not sure on this one, but the Campingaz one I bought has a little clip that engages in a gap in the collar of the cartridge. If they are not lined up then you can't move the lever on the front which locks the cartridge and allows the gas to flow. The important thing to remember is to not try and force it, if it won't move easily then something is wrong.

The cartidges are self sealing when you remove them so I'd recomend not leaving one in too.

1.5kg is portable maybe if you have a car.

If you're hiking, you're much better off just buying a can or lager or a tin of cat food and making your own stove. Just use alcohol as a fuel and you're good to go.

Have a look on youtube for the Supercat stove and the penny can stove.

I've got a similar Campingaz one I picked up for £12 from Go Outdoors last month. They all take the "standard" 220g / 250g isobutane cartridges which you can currently get from Halfords for £1.50 each or 4 for a fiver.

zombi crisis - fry brains

ending up on a deserted remote island - with no food + no gas

because you feel like bear grylls & decide to book a hotel near the camping site

you want the hobo experience but don't want to fill a trash bin, light the inside on fire and place a can of beans inside to 'cook'

I used one of these whilst camping. It's surprisingly powerful. It boils up enough water for a brew in a couple of minutes. It's less good for cooking as the flame is quite small and hot. So you need a really good, heavy pan to avoid things burning. But of course the last thing you want to take along is a heavy pan.
