I have this in gold and bought it at this price maybe Christmas time? Should have dropped by now right..?
The phone itself is pretty good. However there are a few software bugs which is very tedious-
* battery save app is great but has issues with alarm clock apps and turns them off. Also it doesn't refresh GPS as often with this same bug, ok for Google maps etc, not ok for itracks (real time speed tracking).
* rooting isn't the most straightforward and support isn't quite there on the forums,
* fingerprint doesn't work very well in horizontal position.

I have this phone and it is great. the battery saver App did cause me some problems to begin with but once you found all the options it is actually excellent as you can control which apps can do what in the background, you can exclude the clock from any restrictions which will let it work normally. the only thing I find annoying is that the 4g where I work appears to be band 20 because my connection is crap and almost unusable there, everywhere else is ok. I'm on Vodafone but will be changing to 3 in the hope that that's better

My fingerprint is fine, how weird. I have heard that there are 2 models, a lesser LGD model and a better JDI model and both use very different drivers.

Code MI564G brings it down to £175.04, pay in dollars with a special credit card that has a perfect exchange rate / no foreign transaction fee and it could be as low as £169. Credit to kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-mi5-64gb

I would probably bite if it came down to £150. Generally happy with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 though.
Think they are the same in the gearbest description it says The ROM on this Phone supports OTA and is multi language. It is original and international ROM and the bangood says This Xiaomi Mi5 comes with Official Global ROM + OTA Upgrade. if unsure ask them

Thanks. Both seem brilliant options. Still undecided between the Mi5 & the Redmi Note 4. Worried that 5.5" may be too big for a phone!

This phone scores better in benchmark scores but in real world usage the Note 4 is faultless and never slows down for anything.
The Note 4 Global edition having official firmware and band 20 is an absolutely massive plus in my opinion.

Bought mine from gearbeast 2 weeks ago for £198 or there abouts. Paid extra £1 something for quicker delivery. Arrived from China via Yodel in 7 working days from ordering.
The phone came with official global rom and have since upgraded OTA to 8.2 which has latest version of android. There is no uk locale setting which is abit strange and there are loads of european countries missing. I changed mine to India and got the updates straight away although the download is painfully slow.
All in all very happy with the phone, it seems abit light to hold and is very slipperly but performs beautifully and the screen quality really stands out.

The wife's got a Redmi Note 4 and she doesn't find it too big. Nice size IMO.
Thanks for that! Current phone is Sony Xperia Z3. Had it for over 2.5 years now so think it's time for a change.

If that's the LG G4, the camera on the Note 4 (assuming it's the Xiaomi, not Samsung) is nowhere near as good. Or, does this not bother you?

I bought the note 4 for my teenage lad who is difficult to please. He had a G4 but loves the Note 4 as it performs well but loves the fact that the battery lasts longer than the G4. I like the screen size as well 5.5" very useful.

The Mi5 has a snapdragon 820 soc and adreno 530 gpu the Mi5s has a slightly faster soc snapdragon 821 with adreno 530 gpu these are both 5.15 inch phones then there's th Mi5s plus which is the same as Mi5s but 5.7 inch and has dual camera also i believe the Mi5 has a glass back while the Mi5s have metal backs

Tempted...currently on a OnePlus One that's beginning to give up on life...randomly switches off every week or so and the battery's shot. But I'd prefer something the size of the Z5 compact with modern hardware...bleh :disappointed:

That's the only thing stopping me, I love the camera on the G4 and I use it a lot. Not sure I could bring myself to part with it.

Thanks, been looking for something to replace my Xperia Z3C, 16gb internal memory is not enough, even with apps set to install on SD card it is still constantly full, plus the battery life seems to be dropping with every update.
Got it for £172.53 using the code and paying via paypal using a Curve card.

I like that the camera has OIS. I don't think many do for this price. Even my nearly 4 year old LG G2 has OIS and an excellent camera.

With coupons from the newsletter plus quidco, the one on banggood could come down to around £165
