This appears to be the cheapest around at the moment for this and for the price it might be worth it if you have the original Xbox One just for the voice controls. (You can disable Cortana once the novelty has worn off of asking her to tell you a joke or something along those lines and it should work a lot better.)
I paid £25 from CeX a while back and I feel fairly confident in saying it's worth roughly this for how handy the voice commands can be and for the novelty factor.

Woudlnt bother guys, I woudl sing Kinects praises for voice control, but each update sees less and less functionality from kinect.. TV Snapping now removed as well.. wont be long before MS completely remove kinect, they shoudl just release a 3D Microphone.

They do, but you need an adapter. MS give them out for free for owners of the original Xbox One, and hence will ask for your old serial number. Not sure if you can just blag it though, but bound to be ones on eBay

Kinect was pretty good when it came out, then they took away hand gestures for no reason, added cortana for no reason then removed all features apart from cortana for no reason. Avoid kinect at all costs.

Have to disagree, although, yes, they could have made much better use of it etc. I find it the best way to Skype (whole family comfortably sat on the sofa with excellent sound) and the auto sign in for my kids is great.

Ok, I was thinking about getting one - my 8 year old wants to post videos on youtube of him playing games, and talking over it with him in picture... in the same way a zillion annoying twerps already do on the internet. What would work if not the Kinect?

Oh gawd, another kid expecting to be the next youtube gaming millionaire (I have one too!!).
Its not something I'm bothered about, but from what I've seen, it would be fine for live streaming (Twitch and Beam), but I'm not sure for YouTube, I'd say probably not just because I've never seen the option to have you in the picture playing?!?! Best advice is for you to pay a little more (OK a lot) and get an Elgato HD recorder with voice cable for about £95, it will link directly to a PC/Laptop and let him do exactly what he's trying to do... you never know, he might be the next YT sensation and you can retire!

Agreed - by far the best way to communicate on Skype and in that respect alone a good price compared to standalone webcam. All the kids on the sofa talking to their grandparents on the big screen so much easier than crowding round a PC or tablet.

If it helps, you actually can disable Cortana.
Cortana is awful because of how slow it is but in settings I disabled it and I'm back to using "Xbox ".
I'm one of those people though where for this price range it's worth it for an interesting bit of tech and the novelty. (Controlling TV/films is great though for when your hands are full with dinner or whatever.)

I use mine to record game clips (easier to say "Xbox record that" than figure out what key combinations to use...)

Like others have said you need an adapter for the Xbox One S.
I thought it was a cheap deal for Just Dance game in Game for my son and daughter and said "I'll buy the Kenetik camera thing as it was a bargain for £22 from Gane", but was back there a couple of hours later shelling out another £20 for the adapter from Game.

still pizzed M$ never implemented TVDVR after i went and bough the digital tv usb adaptor. Tried to use my kinect but no matter what i said it would not change channel to itv.i never ever bother with hand gestures so recently sold mine for £35 on ebay but i bought it 1.5 years ago for £45 so did alright selling it on.(ditch it now before like others have said it won't be supported soon and just not worth keeping).Lets just hope scorpio makes up for all these mistakes by M$.The first thing that might naff me off is if they don't include ejectable HDD (as i might want to pop in a SSD much like the PS4).If they implented cinavia too like PS3.4 have that would naff me off.

I'm surprised about having problems with the TV control function. Mine has always worked and still does. You do have to learn what it thinks your channel is called though. BBC one used to take me to BBC Wales for some reason. It's important you choose the correct service and box model when you set it up.

It's worth it just for the xbox on function. Mine has been turning my Virgin box, TV and surround sound amp on since launch. Also really good for controlling plex etc. Xbox turn off... Yes... And everything is off again. Remotes now rarely see daylight
