GAME have lowered the price by £30 to £99.99 for a Wii U 32GB with 12 month warranty.

Described as "Fair condition" which I believe was formerly Grade C

Lot's of people ended up with excellent condition ones last time so I think GAME are pretty conservative with their grading (although probably worth paying by PayPal for free returns just in case)

800 reward points (£2) plus TCB / Quidco available too

get one get one get one

waited years...got one from musicmagpie last week and it's an ace console - loads of fun.
Be aware though - I bought a plain premium console...but it came with Mario Kart too...so wait till you've powered it up before going buying loads of games.
Like I did

Damn, I think I've finally reached the point where I'll bite.

I get the feeling that once these are gone and in maybe a year or so the price will go back up again to a point I wouldn't be swayed at.

Wind Waker HD, here I finally come!

I'm exactly the same, figured the price won't get much better than this with a warranty and I think I've waited long enough to play Windwaker HD now lol ...I've had a copy sitting here sealed for ages now with no Wii U to play it on

The storage is rubbish either way, so if you're going to have any digital games you'll need a external hard drive.

More a case of warranty than anything, this could die in a week and my £70 is gone, at least GAME would swap it out!

10 May 17 2 #20
Well if the console dies, you can pick another used one up for £40. So just £10 more than the GAME offer.

The gamepad would set you back though at least £60 to £70. I think the gamepad most of the time only break when you break them, ie.. smashed lcd..etc. Which isn't covered with game warranty anyway.

Surely you accepted that knowing you were buying off a private seller anyway? I took a risk on a used PS4 that way a few years back and hated that feeling that it might pack in any day but on the other hand, saved a bit of money and it's still working. Hope yours gives a good return, it's a great console and the library now is pretty well-fleshed out even if it lagged behind its rivals.

Great price and I'm not sure grade c means that much with the Wii U, as it's a scratch magnet anyway in the hands of people who don't treat their console impeccably well. Can't go wrong with the warranty and the games library is also awesome. Nice deal for whoever takes the plunge, you won't regret it!

Thanks op, had a code for £5 off from getting guitar hero for £9.99 in April. Had been considering a switch for a while now, but as others have said the game library here is already matured and MARIO kart on the switch is exactly the same! Plus I have a DS and I'll only play it at home anyway.

Now, can anyone recommend any deals on a second controller for multiplayer?

I would never buy grade c from them again. May have been very unlucky but I Bought 2 Xbox 360 for me and a friend. First one the disc drive did not open and the second on switched off after 30 seconds. Apparently both had been tested!
Was a pain to take back to the store to get a refund as they wouldn't accept postage returns.

I brought one last year second hand off of eBay, it had been used literally a couple of times by the looks of it, I do not regret it for one minute, I think this console is a must have at this price, great library of games and hours worth of fun.

I have a few of these third party ones and this one whilst not perfect is very good when you consider its half the price. The only thing that takes a tiny bit longer is the aiming of arrows as the sticks are less responsive.. not sure how that will affect the game as it gets harder but can always jump on the Gamepad for some bits.
penguinman93
11 May 17 #57
Thanks, yeah I can get over it for £20. Would only be used for MARIO kart and the like.

Just wondering, there are some for £13 on amazon too, you wouldn't happen to have one of these ones and if it's worth saving a fiver?

I've got one of each and, while I can tell the difference, I wouldn't say the official one is worth the extra £20-30. You can get third party ones for even less as well - I only paid £11.99 for mine.

I was one of the lucky ones to get the 32GB Premium pack with Splatoon and Mario Kart for £150.00 from Smyths toys.
Still boxed up, untouched under my TV.....!!
However, have been buying a back catalogue of games and accessories to use with it. Am in no rush to play it but I am enjoying choosing the games for when I do unbox it.

These are not bad for the price and can operate the console just like the official one (can turn the system on and off). These ones are even cheaper

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016ZT03Y2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're ok for what they are. I got two of them, on one the right analogue lifts upwards, but is still usable. On the other, the left bumber (L button) is a bit stiff and requires a harder push than normal. The "analogue" itself is terrible. It has a massive dead zone that makes them feel like 8 way digital. If you're going to use them for something like Zelda where you need to aim arrows/viewfinder thingy, don't bother with them. For everything else they're reasonable.
penguinman93
12 May 17 #79
Thanks for that, and for £9.99 you can't go wrong, I'll pick one up. Also says in the description that there's a 30 day money back guarantee and a 12 month warranty, I'd take the seller up on that if you bought fulfilled by amazon!

So has anyone else had their one ship yet?

Just it was shipped yesterday and when they send things by DPD I always get the usual e-mail/text the next morning before 9 to say it'll be with me between X and Y but I haven't today.

I seen a couple of people in the other thread say theirs came by Hermes *shudder* so was just concerned they it would be them again despite the Game order/e-mail saying 1 day DPD delivery.

Cheers for the reply.

B*llocks. I'm sure it was that lot that forced my shed door open enough to ram a package in but then sometimes they've left things just wide out in the open outside the front door.

Plus you don't get the nifty one hour delivery slot, just that they have a rough idea that it could possibly show up at some point one day around the date you should expect it.

I was thinking about it, but they're really not bad for the price and if I returned them, I'd either have to buy the same generic ones again with possibly the same issues, or an official one. I don't use the console enough to justify the cost of an official one. Plus, with a bit of jiggery pokery, it's possible to use a Dualshock 3 or 4 (wired) if I really need precision.

Mine arrived today with Hermes. Missing original box but no big deal.

Condition-wise it was pretty funny; I opened the box and thought what the hell is this.. the gamepad was covered top to bottom in some kind of white residue.. looked like the previous owner had a bit too much fun with it :smirk:...
Looked like I would be returning it on first impressions but then I cleaned (& disinfected) it with some isopropyl alcohol and it came up like new! Pretty much immaculate condition. Made me giggle because it looked truly awful how it arrived. I guess cleaning isn't in GAME refurbishing staff's job description, fair enough I suppose.

Also missing vertical console stand and gamepad cradle I think but no biggie. Will test it all later

when I check out it gives me delivery options:

- Express DPD Tracked Delivery (1 working day) - £3.95

Are these the same service?? lol.
derp1664
14 May 17 #112
It will arrive by Hermes if you choose the free option. GAME website is a bit crap for that. Pay the extra and it might arrive with DPD, who knows... might not
JhonSeb0810
14 May 17 #113
What?! Surely not. I already paid using the free service. Well its tracked anyway so I should expect a dpd tracking :/
derp1664
14 May 17 #114
It will be Hermes and no tracking number will be supplied. Their website has wrong info. I think they only use DPD for >£250 orders or something
penguinman93
14 May 17 #115
If you have a DPD tracking code with the free option then the warehouse staff must like you! Shipped via Hermes with the free option for me, and game didn't give me a tracking code until AFTER the delivery was made

Should get to you within 2 working days though, £3.95 if you really want to start playing isn't bad though.
JhonSeb0810
14 May 17 #116
The only reason I purchased was because of that DPD. I detest Hermes. Where I live, a first class Hermes service is a damn 5 day delivery service.

I'll try and cancel my order in the morning hopefully :/ There's a CEX store nearby where I live and they sell a Wii U for £120. But comes with 24 months warranty and I get the console straight away . That £20 savings isnt worth it if hermes is carrying the parcel and have to basically wait a week.
derp1664
14 May 17 #117
Yeah some areas are very unlucky with their local Hermes drivers being crap. I would try contacting GAME and see if it's not been dispatched yet and complain; say you want it sent with DPD or else cancelled.
They also have pick-up in store option if that's any good for you

finally got a hermes tracking email today. Aimed to be delivered within 24 hours- pretty poor as ordered on Thursday evening. Whats the guess they arrive for the 10 minutes I'm out tomorrow!
derp1664
15 May 17 #122
Yeah GAME really should sort out the delivery options on their site.. at least tell people it will be shipped with Hermes instead of claiming everything is DPD Next Day

15 May 17 #123
I placed my order before 9am on Thursday and it was marked as shipped around 4.30pm the same day. No delivery or tracking number so far..

Mine arrived today, strangely the controller seems fine (although something sounding like a screw is rattling inside) but the console itself is scratched to hell. Sending it back. I wasn't expecting like new condition buy it looks like someone played football with it.

I ordered Thursday evening, came by Hermes.

15 May 17 1 #126
Well it arrived about an hour ago- like others no box or vertical stand or cradle. Haven't set it up yet- need to wait till kids asleep. Controller looked in good condition- it was a Zelda one. The console itself has a couple of scratches. About what i'd expect to be honest.
Cheapasnowt
15 May 17 #127
Set it up- despite a Zelda controller unfortunately no games pre-installed on it! Slightly disappointed

Mine was shipped yesterday.

Disappointed that it's probably not going to arrive today via DPD now.

The white one is 8GB internal memory, but the black Wii U console is the premium version. The reason for the sad face is that yes he/she paid less but once the OS is taken into consideration most of the internal memory is gone. Therefore, if he/she were planning on installing games directly into the internal memory as the Wii U notoriously boosts game working speeds when installed this way then there would lie the problem as there would be no more that 1GB-2GB left of storage space which is not enough to even download a AAA title from the Nintendo eShop as well as said title's future game updates.

16 May 17 #130
how difficult was it to do? can you point me in the right direction to do this?
UltimatePhoenix
17 May 17 #131
Just got mine, the console and gamepad is disgusting, but its the zelda one, that a good finsmd is it???
Cheapasnowt
17 May 17 #132
Depends on whether the game.was preinstalled or not on the console
bernardsfingers
17 May 17 1 #133
Not sure what finsmd means? A disgusting Zelda gamepad is possibly better than a disgusting non-Zelda standard gamepad but neither is particularly desirable.
Wind Waker HD came as a download code with the console rather than being preinstalled so wouldn't be on the console unless it had never been formatted & the original account was left on there (which seems unlikely). Whereas consoles which came with Mario Kart 8 preinstalled will still have the game on the system even after it's been formatted.
UltimatePhoenix
17 May 17 1 #134
Meant find, just rushed the text!!
Only difference I see is the decal on the gamepad, console is the same, wondering if they are worth more???
Might take it back cause its got something that looks like ear wax in the crevasses haha

Received mine today and the condition of the Wii U is fantastic considering this is supposed to be a C grade. Smears on the thing are evidence a GAME employee did give it a wipe down (you get a checklist of all they did as part of the assessment) and theirs on a couple of tiny bumps on the controller. The console itself seems imaculate. Came with a pre-installed Mario Kart 8 so I'm a happy customer!

Mine arrived this morning ... Controller excellent, Console a bit scuffed but not that bad to be honest. Console had a kids account on with a few games, and Amibo stuff ...

17 May 17 2 #137
Mine arrived today too. Just set it all up. No games preinstalled on it unfortunately but it's in very good condition. Few surface scratches here and there but nothing major. Can't wait to play Mario Kart now
Chewbob
18 May 17 1 #138
Mine arrived yesterday. Controller in decent condition, console has scuffs and scratches all over it but in good working order. Only real problem is it didn't include an AC cable for the controller, which I'll probably just buy myself rather than go through the hassle of returning.
SimplyEpic
18 May 17 1 #139
Considering the console's grade, I was surprised to find that everything was pretty much in mint condition. Pretty miffed that the controller was drenched in chocolate and God knows what else though. So much for the check sheet saying that they cleaned it.
derp1664
18 May 17 #140
Personally, I would definitely still complain to GAME about that since an incomplete console is certainly grounds for compensation of some sort (partial refund or replacement cable at least?)
buliztik
18 May 17 #141
I'm with derp1664 on this one, most including myself received a charging cable so you should've too. I actually once complained to GAME when my used PS3 slim was delivered without a power lead. Considering that the PS3 power lead is a standard two pin kettle lead it wasn't like I needed it, but it was more the principal that GAME would send me a used console without anything to power the damn thing if I didn't have one lying around.

Within a couple of days, I received a lead in the post with apologies from GAME.

This sucks. I bought one thinking I could play some 2 player mario kart with both of us on a gamepad but turns out you can't connect more than one at once! :disappointed:
derp1664
18 May 17 #143
Yeah that feature was never added for the Wii U despite some signs that it was originally planned to be supported
slayermatt
18 May 17 #144
Defo, like I wouldn't wait around to see if they do anything - but if they compensate with sending a cable least you have a spare then!

Not sure if this helps or i misread what you're trying to do but I found this https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/632934-new-super-mario-bros-u/64679104 might be helpful.

Mine arrived without the ac adaptor for the gamepad. Had to kick up a stink but they are sending me one. Annoyed I had to put in the effort I did, should have been dealt with straight away. My kit is in virtually mint condition, hoping for Mario Kart preinstalled! Will have to wait for cable to find out!
derp1664
20 May 17 #147
Good to know they did right and replaced the cable though at least
jalabaster
20 May 17 #148
True but I had to open a PayPal case for game to sit up. Passed around customer services Friday morning and got nowhere. Just want the cable now!

Received gamepad ac adaptor and a second Wii u ac adaptor. I'm guessing they are prepared together. I'm satisfied with the resolution.
Chewbob
23 May 17 #150
I had no such luck with the gamepad AC adapter, although I wasn't quite as willing to kick up such a stink. Not worth the hassle for a couple of quid, just bought a USB adapter for it which I'm happy with.
