I think you are right, this is a fake posting, like you say, the one pictured has the paint worn on it from lots of use. I asked at both Bolton stores today and they didn't know of any spinners coming in.

I think its about time that the Mods insist on the receipt being posted with all deals to stop fake posts.

I asked at the Sainsbury's information desk about a particular product my wife and kids had been hunting the store for without success and he personally took me to the far end of the store to show me where it was. I have similarly asked shelf stacking staff in ASDA and again they have personally taken me to the location of the required goods.

Now you have just reminded me of my dear depart Mum, who used to sit and watch TV whilst knitting at the same time (click, click, click, all through the TV programmes). Her knitting must have been her fidget spinner of the day; however, there was something productive for her efforts even though me and my brother/sister had to wear whatever she produced.

Got one from the local cheap shop on impulse at £2 out of curiosity, though it looks different to that. Never too old :smile: Unfortunately unless I'm missing something (tricks etc) it's one of the less interesting fads. I wonder though if it'd be a useful point of reference for physics teachers. These were used with SEN kids to help stemming and concentration. This "craze" for these have now helped schools putting bans on them so the SEN kids can't use them.

At this point it is a fad. Not mentioned anything about SEN kids - I'm not an idiot and know all about their original intended use.

Its good for my anxiety as i normally fidget about with my nails, i got mine before all the kids did because a mate of mine got one to help him destress at work, never heard of em until he got one.

They're basically spinning wheels. Kids with sensory processing issues often find comfort in these kind of things. My youngest has autism and has been obsessed with spinning things since he was a baby.

My eldest non autistic kid predictably is well into them at the moment, and I rolled my eyes like the cynical parent I am when he came home with one , however when I first tried it out to try and out-do him on the tricks with it (which I did, easily haha) it weirdly actually helped me concentrate and chilled me out a bit too (I have mad issues with anaemia at the moment) . So in the evenings when my kids are in bed I sit there spinning one watching telly rather than killing my brain reading total nonsense on my phone. For a couple of quid, I dont understand why everyone is whinging about them :smile:

ADHD is the term now used replacing terms ADHD andADD. There are 2 types of ADHD The impulsivity type and the concentration and focus type which symptoms in many ways overlaps with autism and dyspraxia and can mask the symptoms which will be all the more prominent when medication is commenced.

If child has confirmed diagnosis most schools are happy to let them use them.

Most schools have banned these where I am unless the child has a confirmed diagnosis of ADHD or AUTISM. Which is what they were initially devised for. No bans on fidget cube as far as I know.

Health and safety culture all wrong, kids cannot even have hair bands as they are dangerous or even shoe-laces as it disadvantages some children ---WTF---, maybe the NIMBYs should be banned for speaking. These are toys perfect for children with learning disabilities and difficulties, thankfully not under patent -yes they should have a CE mark and be well made but still they are toys and are for playing with.

I am just waiting for for the first pushy mother to bring in a child and claim it is an addiction and the child needs (not parent!!!) needs rehab :stuck_out_tongue:

They're already banned in my school, parents got an email. My DT teacher got banned from 3D printing them as well. These are no more dangerous than a sharp pencil being thrown.

They are not banned at my kids primary but they've told kids not to bring them in as your not allowed to bring toys into school and theres been some "disagreements in the school yard" so i reckon they've gotten nicked, crying, fighting etc

Think it depends what you want out of them, i spent £10 on a metal one preciously because it has a changable one, i assume most dont as they dont say anything about it on the blurbs, but they are often advertised as how long they spin for so if you plan to put it on a table and watch it spin for five mins fair enough but if you want to constantly fiddle with it I'm not sure if the quality really matters

Wow.... People on here worry too much. It is a toy, no different to having a yo-yo when I was a kid. They'd hurt if you hit someone with it, at least it keeps kids off a tablet/phone for a few minutes.

They probably cost a few pence to make. It's not so much buying power, it's the cheap manufacturing cost.

Its annoying. I have a proper one that ive had for ages. I use it at work as an alternative to the bulkier fidget cube to save my pen from certain death of clicking when I am on the phone. Now i feel like a proper idjit using one. damn kids!

They are oddly satisfying, but although most look the same, there are differences. Mine is much heavier than the market-stall/ali-express ones and looks to be stronger ABS plastic.

These were recommended for my boy to help focus to stop him stimming for short periods of time and help him focus just like PECs cards are there to help him communicate, they are a tool used to help control behavioral and mental issues, the difference is at our school we have an LRC so its a non issue, but this will affect other kids and some schools will place a blanket ban and disregard kids with 'Additional Needs'

I'm going to risk sounding crazy but you get what you pay for. I used to skate as a kid and these are basically made of skate bearings. You can not buy a good set of 4 abec11 bearings like my son has in his spinner for £1.
But the real question is, dose the quality overly matter in something like this...?

What you mean to say is it looks nothing like the spinnerz or whatever crap they are branded as toy range ones that come in a brightly coloured box and sold to mugs for £6 a time when the coloured plastic with a berring inside is just one of the bog standard ones you can buy from china for £1 if that much.

There are many designs of spinners, the point is that they are balanced to spin on the central berring, some have two arms, most have three, some have four or more, some are just wieghted at the ends others have cogs or LEDs or all kinds of fiddly bits.

I imagine poundland don't actually make anything they sell.

Please, it's just a bit of fun. With all the bad stuff going on in the world why do people get so upset about these. My son has one and loves it. The high school he goes to allows kids to play with them in lessons. If they're happy with that then so am I. His school is rated excellent and sometimes gets better exam results than the local private school. My point is, just let kids be kids, work hard and play hard. They will grow up all too soon. I'm not looking for an argument though!

Until my 4 y/o turned it into a sculpture, I always used a large blob of bluetac to keep my fidgety hands occupied.

Easier to keep tidy as well, when finished with, just stick it to the nearest woodwork.

As mentioned these were designed for kids with special or additional needs like ASD kids, to help them focus, ever wondered why kids with ASD flap there arms or wiggle fingers it helps with spatial awareness and these can stop them doing that to focus during lesson times..

Bought one of these last week for my daughter, one that has flashing LED's in each arm (for want of a better way to describe it) Reported that only one set (of the three) LED's didn't work, and then took it apart to take a look, they'd basically glued three tiny batteries together, but some of the glue had made it to the underside of the battery at the bottom of the stack meaning it wasn't making proper contact. Quick slice with a scalpel and problem solved, was quite pleased with myself, but then felt quite bad today when I received a notification that the seller had refunded me in full...

If the Chinese can save fractions of a penny, they will, even if it is to the detriment of the life of a product. Have seen issues with bearings often enough for it to be an issue, sometimes due to the bearings themselves, other times due to the fact that the Chinese-made products are not as waterproof as they're supposed to be (which obviously kills bearings quite quickly).

About to go the same way as Pokemon cards in the Primary I work in.... banned.

It's another one of those things which every parent will know about already, as they have been featured in various media, and kids will have come home demanding one a week ago.
According to a BBC article it's taken off around the world, so a quick google search brings up masses of results for anyone who still doesn't know what they are.

My daughter just bought one of them from china for my granddaughter as someone said on here it doesn't look anything like the poundland one and does look like a spinning tie. :laughing:

These have actually been around for a few years and were developed for special needs children who fidget, hence the name. They keep special needs children occupied and focused in an already difficult world.

Now because of the sudden interest hundreds of special needs children who have been using them at school to cope have been told they are no longer allowed to use them.

Be careful with young children the metal ones are heavy, and if it flys off there finger it could smash things up, there's videos on YouTube with people breaking stuff with them. Got my kid a Plastic flashing one he loves it.

I had a mini arguement with a market trader the other day about these, he was charging £7 or 2 for £12 but wasn't priced up so when I asked the price I said no thanks I'll wait for poundland to get them, he argued saying it's impossible as he gets at wholesale price and they will never get them cheap enough. I think he under estimates the buying power of poundland.

I would not be surprised if we see articles in the news where kids cut themselves badly with these, for example stupidly using air canisters to speed up the spinners. I also would not be surprised if these get banned in schools across the country. Items like these (used for a different purpose from the one intended, especially if used as a 'fad') are a signal (using a movie-business phrase) of the dumbing down of society and the human race nowadays.

Pretty much spot on. At least loom bands did something! These don't seem to have a real purpose.

I agree with above comments it looks nothing like the fidget spinners kids are using so I doubt many kids would actually want them when their friends look completely different

Evidently they will be no good as the bearings inside are only cheap according to my just become a teenage eldest son. I know nothing even though i have been pulling and replacing bearings (made in China), in machinery for years with no ill effects to the movement. Bought six fidget spinners the other week off Ebayy at five times the price as my three had to have them, two of them immediately swapped them for other toys at school ! Great and more sensible price for these things, obviously an essential aid to todays youth keeping the strength in their digits
