Appears to be end of line - new version is currently £63.
Reviews are a bit meh, but seems ok for the 14 hours of summer we have in the UK.

These are good.
Remember it's not a fridge - don't put warm stuff in and expect it to be ice cold.
If you put cans in that have been in the fridge overnight, they will stay cold in this - that's it's purpose :sunglasses:

Shame these don't have the 240v like the one i got from Aldi a few years back does. These are really good at keeping stuff cool if they are already chilled.
Yes, they passively keep things cool for a while, but if you have electric hook up, you can then use an adapter add linked to above.

Yes they are ok for camping but you would definitely need an electric hook up and a mains adaptor but even then the coolbox will only reduce the outside temperature by about 8 or maybe 10 degrees inside it.
If your a serious camper get a 3 way cooler fridge because they are a even capable of making ice cubes.

Would this work directly in the cigarette lighter?

Yes

I have a Camping Gaz cooler box and I use the cigarette lighter socket on my 12V Portable Car Jump Starter. For me it gives 3 hours ideal on day trips when the car isn't in motion and keeps the Jump Starter active during the summer when the discharge /recharge keeps the battery in trim!
Good price and spec, thanks, although some may be put off as shipped from China (so effectively no warranty either), plus no power lead (although looks a standard kettle-type).

Don't expect too much from these car coolers. If you are driving for hours and hours and want a cold drink at the end, they are good. For everything else you are probably better off with a non powered coolbox and some freezer blocks. Without the engine on they will drain a car battery in around 5 hours so you can't really use them camping. I use mine for long car journeys but for a 2 hour drive to the beach for the day, I use the unpowered one.

But for they price why buy a passive one as you could just use this passively as well - I pre cool these with freezer packs and a lot of campsites also have freezers especially for them in the shower block etc., so I then also take them and rotate them around and if electric hook up available this box is then perfect.

I agree with Jay but as car batteries average 60ah and this cooler draws about 4 amp you could run the cooler for 5 hours and only draw a third of the charge if your battery is healthy. I wouldn't want to draw more than 60% on a regular basis as it would ruin the battery. Same applies to Ralph888's jump starter, unless its lithium. 3 way coolers are great but really bulky & heavy & have to be perfectly levelled when static or they get damaged. I had a Coleman which was great but I sold it when I moved to Oz. When I got back I bought a Dometic and it would only cool to 20 degrees below ambient which seemed great until I realised my tent was getting up to 34 degrees in Aviemore last summer.

For a larger car perhaps. A hatchback battery is closer to 45Ah. The Waeco website states this to draw max 4.6Amp so you'll be 60% flat in 6 hours and that's with a new battery. Even with a huge battery it won't last a day so yes, ok if you have hook up but no, not if you don't.

Can't see anything in the manual for this re. max 4.6amp, just says 47 watt. 45ah is a small hatchback like a 1.2 Punto, i.e. the minority when it comes to camping. Many in big diesels with 90ah batteries so average 60ah is still realistic. Flat in a day, probably yes

That's ok and as I said, I have both however... If you are off to the beach or air show for the day a passive one is lighter, more durable, usually wider at the bottom so less likely to tip, won't break because of sand/mud getting in and even with the ice blocks, has more room inside for similar outer dimensions. Even more so if you use a bottle of water for the ice block that you can drink towards the end of the day. In addition, being less valuable, you don't worry so much about leaving it on the ground if you go for a swim/pee/ice cream. (Only £12.67 here but more valuable at retail and therefore to a tea leaf.)
I'm just saying, if you don't NEED an electric one, don't get it. For day trips, a passive cooler is better.

They say in the description "we have US / EU / UK / AU Plug Power Supply" so I would expect a kettle lead with it. Also see http://payments-uk.amazon.com/help/201212420 for Amazon protection on third party purchases

And the description there states it does not include AC cable.
Yep... mine also arrived and I have to say that it is very good for the price.
Cools down in minutes and although you can hear the fan it isn't as noisy as I expected.
Absolute bargain!!!!
Thank you

Anyone know of a decent mains charger for these? The silverline linked above gets pretty poor reviews....

I'm tempted at this price and Waeco have good rep for caravan fridges etc. IIRC
