You must book through clicking from the Virgin Red app. Click from the app. Scroll quite a way through to get to "Virgin Red Routes" , quite hidden. An excellent deal. Other routes like Glasgow, Chester, Liverpool and Preston available. You also get 1,000 bonus nectar points, which you will see mentioned o your nectar account or app, but is badly worded on there as it implies you can get the fares by clicking through from the Nectar site which you can't, you must click from the Virgin Red app.

Brilliant. However. It would be cheaper for me to buy tickets from Manchester to Euston at £40 return one adult 2 children. From Stoke to Euston return it's over £200. Am I ok to join the train at stoke do you think? I know I would have to get through the barriers but I'm presuming you could just say you are meeting family or not?? Thanks

Buy a cheap local ticket to get through the barriers at Stoke and when on the train show the Manc-Euston tickets and also when going through barriers at Euston.

You're not allowed and staff have got strict. Takes longer, but you could buy cross country advance singles to Birmingham , on any website , then get these red routes at £4 adult Birmingham to London. Or you could buy cheap on the day tickets to either Manchester or Birmingham. But Birmingham would be quicker and cheaper as you can get the £4 tickets.

Beware! You may get away with it but if they have already checked the tickets at Manchester they can and may demand you pay full price from Stoke to Euston. I used to travel every week from Preston to Euston, Lancaster to Euston eas and probably is significantly cheaper and more flexible. If the tickets had been checked from Lancaster (and they usually were) any trying to get on at Preston with a cheap Lancaster ticket was charged the full Preston to Euston price which could be up to £200. I ended up driving to Lancaster each week as it was so much cheaper and worth the extra car journey.

aw snap, booked tickets the other day via trainline..! Great deal, voted hot

Tip: Seldom a good idea to use trainline due to all its extra charges & fees, and definitely not a good idea for Virgin Trains West Coast fares.
Plus as already mentioned if/when booking through Virgin Trains West Coast site remember to add your loyalty scheme either NECTAR or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

Absolutely the worst website to buy a train ticket from. Either use the actual train operator (often with cashback available from Topcashback/Quidco) or http://www.takethetrain.co.uk with zero fees.

Tip: If you want to book these Virgin Red fares on your regular PC rather than on your phone...
just use your Virgin Red app to take you to the Internet site on your phone
and then copy that "buytickets.virgintrains..." URL and transfer it to your PC (eg via an email).
You can then visit the site and see the "Red Hot" fares showing.

Worked for me with TopCashback £2.50 booster as well.... just clicked through the Virgin red app to booking page.... then opened TCB app and followed virgin trains link, which open the page in the tcb web browser (no good for this Red Hot deal).... but when i went back to normal chrome browser (that Virgin Red app opened) and completed the transaction i have the 1% cashback and the £2.50 pending in my account.... £17.50 return if it pays out!
Thanks again OP... Family and friends weekend on you

Thanks for that prompt!
Had been wondering what TCB site I "needed" to spend £5 on this weekend to bag that £2.50 bonus - and a non-RedHot Virgin Trains Advance ticket £7.90 that I had on ToDo list fitted the bill perfectly - with 1% TCB (already tracked on TCB 15 mins later, ie 33% saving for me!] and a few NECTAR points too due
[or could have claimed Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, which would give a 3yr validity of a/c balance refresh!]

Just to help people with what the Virgin Red App lists out as being included in the offer:
Journeys on Virgin Trains West Coast mainline to/from London Euston ie EUS
and the following stations - with Adult fares from...
Birmingham New Street BHM £4
Chester CTR £10
Glasgow Central GLC £15
Liverpool Lime Street LIV £10
Manchester Piccadilly MAN £10
Preston (Lancs) PRE £10
They appear to be only Standard Class with no First Class option [as there usually is in Virgin's own periodic "Sales"]
Travel between Saturday 27/5 and Sunday 11/6. The tickets are specially priced Advance tickets in that you have to catch the specific train and actually travel between the ticketed stations!
Available to book until Tuesday 30/5
Any available tickets appear in the results as "Red Hot" with yellow highlighting of the option.
If there aren't many tickets left it'll also show a red "X seats left" underneath in that yellow box.
When searching check you've got a valid destination & valid dates & then search the hours from early in morning to late in evening as these Red Hot fares appear to often be on early/late trains.
Not mentioned but Child fares appear to be 50% (and any Railcard's aren't applicable to this fare).
See my earlier posting about using your desktop PC/screen to book using the smartphone Virgin Red App's link.
As you're booking with Virgin Trains West Coast official booking engine you:
a) You haven't actually bought the tickets until you fully checkout and during the booking process as your select your seats, those seat reservations are kept for I think it's 2 hours [it tells you the time in the basket interface!] so you can definitely bag seats at the RedHot price in your basket and then phone around or check hotels available etc while tickets remain in your basket ready to complete the purchase
b) Can also claim NECTAR or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points by entering your details
and see Tommytbone1's idea above re claiming TopcashBack 1% (and potentially TCB's Bank Holiday weekend bonus)
c) Potentially add "Plusbus" to use the buses on the day your travel to/from your city/town [however as most Plusbus offer discount for having a Railcard - which RedHot doesnt - you may need to experiment with getting the Booking Engine to recognise the Railcard]
d) If you have the Virgin Trains App on your phone you'll probably be able to claim the tickets as eTickets instead of a printed one. I like the App just for general purpose "Live Train Times" showing the National Rail live feeds of train movements over the next 2 hours.
