I got one free in a conference pack a couple of years ago.In my opinion its a little bit better than most phone speakers, louder but the sound quality isn't great.
Great device for blaring out tin sounding music from the back of the bus or just in public - if that's your thing.
More suited to non-public places.

are these Bluetooth speakers any good? I'm speaking in general as I see many such deals of late. what I mean to say is how much better are they than decent phone speakers?

This is louder than any phone speaker, but I wouldn't describe the sound as 'better'.
For better sound spend a bit more.
