Similar fan to the Tesco one. Plenty of stock in my local store, and available online.

Obviously I cannot speak of all makes, but I only use it for a few weeks a year and haven't had any problems. As for power consumption, it's hard to tell, you tend to have lower bills in the Summer any ways... All I can say is I haven't noticed any jump in price.
People say it's not worth it in this country, but you don't have to install it, just buy a cheap one on wheels or whatever. It's been way worth it for me, I would have spent more on fans each year for a crap experience of hot air blown on me. All I have to do is turn it on when the temps are dropping outside and it'll bring the temp down inside the whole house to a comfortable sleeping temperature.

Interesting to hear it is still going after more than 10 years. I've been thinking about one, but my main worry was that with it being used so little (in this country) that might be detrimental to its lifespan (a bit like car aircon) obviously you haven't found that to be the case. How have you found the power consumption? Reasonable?

Mine is on wheels and I just put it on the windowsill and the hot air goes out the window. As for water it has an internal tank that I never have to empty as it's evaporated by the time the next Summer comes around.

For some reason the description is wrong... I believe it's 30 inches high.

Is a fan that goes cold a good deal?

I got an Air conditioner from B&Q back in 2005ish for £150 and it's still going today, stop buying fans, buy an air conditioner.

Not everyone has £150 to spare.

Not everyone wants to make a big hole in their wall or hang a hose out their window, not to mention draining the thing unless of course it's a professionally installed A/C unit ....a little higher than £150 though.

I bought this morning, it's been on constantly and provides decent airflow... They're pretty much all the same design at this price.
