Heat, and in before all the comments of bad press and "mouldy machines". As long as you buy official filters and clean the machine correctly and regularly like any other machine it will server you well.
We have many friends who have used these so we have bought one ourselves to use. paid £50 2 months ago so this is a good price.

Always one with the breast feeding. Perfect prep was worth the money with us. LO had medical formula and the amount he got through this machine helped out a lot.

I suppose you use an electric kettle to boil the water? I prefer to go out into the woods, chop down a tree, hack it into smaller pieces then with two pieces of flint struck together many times to create a spark, set pre chopped wood alight. Then suspend some water in a tin can over the flame.
But that's just me. I like to teach my kids that you have to put some effort in to get what you want. None of this flicking of a switch and then have some appliance do all the work for you. Ohhh no, not under my roof!!

A decade of medical training and experience - I think I might be more qualified to state that in fact, yes all women are capable of breastfeeding (there are a handful of very rare conditions which prevent it, which affect less than 1% of women - feel free to confirm this in the literature). The problem surrounds lack of support, and, well lack of effort. Far too many just don't give a damn about even trying, partly due to crap products like this which make the opposite appear much more attractive.

The watchdog program was a hatchet job on this machine. We have one & it is brilliant, highly recommended.

never seen the need for one. pre-boil water... put milk in and takes 3-5 mins to warm. I'm quite happy to teach my kids a little patience and not just convenience from a young age

That's good for you, just as you see no need for one I see no need for you to judge other people who do see the need for one.

You taught a new born about being patient? That's not how parenting works.

you need to use boiling water, pre-boiled water would not kill the bacteria in the powdered milk!!

Perfect machine, bought it when we had our daughter and then used it for our son. Lol @ teaching the child patience, to me it was about getting my baby his milk before my other two got woken up from him crying, or whatever. Which then meant I was able to get more sleep before work..

Or.... breastfeed. But that's too hard for the modern Western mother, I guess.

Before my little one was born I considered getting this machine... I didn't in the end and choose to breastfeed.
My choice. This, for me, does not negate other parents need for this machine, whether combi-feeding or exclusively bottle fed for whatever reason.
Not everyone can, and breastfeeding support isn't great in certain parts of the UK.

Have this too and it's superb, little one is 8momths and has had this all the time.
Key is to change filters every two months (it says 3 but I'm extra prudent). Also, to make sure you wipe the machine down.

The bad press came from watchdog. Who then got into bother for not proving/sharing any of their findings.
Had mine for years. Changed the correct filters when supposed to and it's been brilliant.
