Ok its not a Honda, but at this price you are getting a bargain, comes with an 125 cc E Briggs & Stratton engine, self propelled, what's not to like about this, bought one last week, started first time, cuts fine, will never go back to a flymo after using this

I bought the 140cc 46cm model at £160 over the weekend and the single height adjuster is linked from back to front wheels...and it's a metal link! Just pointing that out as an engineer.
I have just replaced a 10 year old "cheapo" mower that has required fixing for 9 of those years. The main fault was a plastic fuel tank with a seam half way up the horizontal. By gads! what an annoying design. Produced a leak by the start of every mowing season. This should be better and 1st run out makes me very pleased. I would also like to look down on all you folk buying this model as mine has bigger back wheels... well worth the extra £25......err.
On the slight negative the rigid plastic wheels do wheelspin on moving off.

Looks a better build to the sovereign lawnmower I bought 2 years...loads of plastic and plastic wheels. This looks great, great engine and a fantastic price

Think you may be better off with a gx250 clone, with the side crank not bottom

That was a rather stupid and ignorant remark, not in the slightest bit funny.

I did a good old google, you must have had a dream. You have not provided a source either but I know I have seen my source, was yours sitting next to you in the pub that night. Not worth discussing with a know it all who knows nothing but tries to make out the other person knows nothing. Good BYE .

Seeing as B&S are producing 80% of the engines used for garden equipment, you'd better supply the source for that 70% because I think you're making it up!

70% of OEM's use Honda engines.

I have had a cheap,no name, self propelled Briggs and Stratton engined lawn mower that has lasted me about 15 years.
The deck started to rust,so I painted the whole lot in Hammerite about 5 years ago,and changed the blade to an Oregon one at the same time.Still runs like a new mower.I will probably replace the belt at the end of the season,if it needs it.
All you need to remember is to change the oil, spark plug, and air filter when needed, and NEVER leave it over winter with any petrol in it,run it dry on the last cut of the year, and put a tea spoon of B&S oil down the spark plug hole when you store it,and as long as you put fresh petrol in it,it should start with the first or second pull.Mine still does, but I learnt that the hard way, which required a carb rebuild kit .

Again. the worlds top manufacturers Viking (Stihl) and Husqvarna are both using B&S as almost ever manufacturer who doesn't use their own engines does. There are very few third party makers who use Honda, mainly because they are expensive and have such a small range.

They are used worldwide by commercial gardeners who rate them for their reliability and longevity.

Great bit of kit for the money, picked one up today. As the OP stated, started easily first time. Quiet (for a petrol mower) and smooth running. Love the one handle height adjustment. Self propulsion is a bit fast but easy to get used to. Can't go wrong at that price especially with the top name engine.

top name engine. er no. naff imo and not a patch on Honda mowers. sure they are more expensive but are well worth it. mines lasted over 10 years and starts first time every time. had cheap petrol mowers prior to that, never again

Except that they don't mainly because their range is very small, and they don't produce engines for the 'budget' end of the market.
"Briggs & Stratton certainly wins when it comes to market share. I would conservatively estimate that 80% (if not more) of the engines in all lawn mowers, pressure washers, generators, and tractors currently on the open market are manufactured by Briggs. "

Couldn't disagree more, Honda are the best for 4 stroke garden equipment engines that is why they sell far more than anybody else.
I couldn't disagree more! Had a Honda mower, and the deck rusted through twice within three years, and the engine was a complete breakdown artist. Move to B&S and & the only problem has been the ethanol in the fuel clogging the carb once.
There are some very cheap B&S engines alongside some better ones which inevitably cost more. You need to be sure you are comparing apples with apples.

I've had a couple of these pseudo "briggs & stratton" powered mowers in the past. The engines are ok so long as they're serviced regularly and treated with a bit of TLC, but they're definitely not a patch on the older B&S stuff. These are built to a budget, so be prepared for cheap, nylon drive gears to wear out after 3-4 years. It's a fairly uneconomical fix unless you can find spares and do it yourself....or you could just use it as a push-along for the rest of it's days.
£135 is still a bargain price so long as you don't work it too hard and look after it.
Hot deal for self propelled, steel deck and Briggs and Stratton. Though many people won't need self propelled, unless they have very big gardens with hills and bankings. It adds weight and mechanical complexity. TBH 4 stroke mower engines are all pretty good if you treat them right, even the Cheapo ones.
If you are using it in a professional capacity then sure get something with a Honda or Kawasaki (Though in my experience Kawa engined Hayter/Toro's are better than Honda engined Lawnflite's). The old 2 stroke Victa's are fantastic little machines if you can get a good one on ebay, so light and powerful for their size.
