nope, it's a completely different game.
set after Tekken 6 I believe, with all the same characters.

It depends entirely whether you prefer the Street Fighter series or whether you prefer Tekken. If you like the classic Street Fighter games and characters and want to play Street Fighter IV then go for that. If you prefer the gameplay of the Tekken series then go for that instead, you kind of know with either game what you are going to get.
