game will steal your life so be warned. I found myself singing a song about growing parsnips at 4am when I realised I had to be up for work at 7am. Heat!

It's more like a relaxation/achievement simulator. No pressure to do anything, just make things grow and pet your animals while relaxing music plays. Sleep at the end of the farm day knowing that everything is just right. Bit like minecraft, as you start to craft new things and open up new possibilities it gets more interesting, but there's no deadlines involved.

This was a steal at full price, great game but will steal hours of your life, and hasn't been on ps4 long, hot

I have been waiting for this... Got the physical version, but feel I need this too for some reason. Wish it was a Vita cross-buy tho :disappointed:

Maybe one day. There's a surprisingly large amount of demand for a Vita version

Hoping for a similar price on Xbox one soon I'd give this a go!

I have this on Xbox but am waiting to play it on my Switch, doubt he price will be this good though.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was £49.99 on the Switch.. Got to make up for the massive hit they are taking selling that cutting edge hardware at such a low price and the chemical to make the karts taste bad ain't cheap. :smirk:

I've looked at this a bit, seen all the raving reviews but not really understanding them. Is it more than just a farming sim?

Are these sort of games not better on the PC?

Damn VERY tempted to get at this price but I've just also bought a Switch and the portability of that will enable me to play it way more than a PS4 hmmm

Brilliant game. Tempted to buy it despite already having a PC copy.

I wanted to nab this but been reading that the game causes some hardware issues with the PS4 Pro in Rest Mode. Supposed to be fixed with 4.50 firmware and people are saying it wasn't. It does sound like a game perfect for the Switch though, which I might buy later in the year. Hmm.

Don't buy this game if you have a PS4 Pro.. the game is still broken with the latest firmware... works fine on a regular PS4
Rossmor40 to magicpork
10 May 17#16
Is that not just a rest mode problem though? If you don't leave your PS4 pro in rest mode or you shut down Stardew valley before putting the Pro in rest mode it's fine.

It's a little more serious than that.. I've had my system gone to the hard shutdown w/ 3 beeps a few times after running Stardew Valley... it never happened after I removed the game and shelved it...

I don't even own a Switch (yet) but already agonising over waiting for it on that or diving into it now on my PS4, argh! Such a good deal... but I imagine playing it in bed/on the go is probably worth waiting for, even if it's double the price then.

There is a reason this is so cheap..it is absolute rubbish in my opinion. I bought the game when it was first released and I can honestly say I can not understand the good reviews, complete waste of money.

Ah I see - this game is cheap because you don't like it?

It's basically one big homage to Harvest Moon, you really should have known what you were getting yourself into before buying

Just because its beyond you to play it doesn't mean its not a good game... If you want shooty shooty this isnt for you.

How are the controls, seeing as it sounds designed for a mouse and keyboard? Been looking into this game myself, but not sure whether to spend a few more quid and get the PC version. There are reports it doesn't work with the PS4's touchpad, but this was last year so don't know if it's been patched since.

Honestly this game is under investigation for theft. Because it's stealing all my free time. Buy this game.
Right now. Myself and the wife have played it so much it's around the 9p an hour Entertainment area... and I suspect by the time we stop it will be around the 3p an hour mark lol

To answer my own question, I bought it and yeah the left stick "mouse" is really awkward to use and makes it difficult to do certain things in the game. It's really meant for a desktop, and if I was making the same choice again I'd definitely pay a few more £ and get the Steam version instead. 100%. Aside from my console being in a more comfy place, I kind of regret getting this version. Good game though so far, very addictive

And that is why I bought it as I loved Harvest moon. but this is a very poor relation to Harvest moon in my opinion

No I do not want shooty shooty games.why would you even think that ?? and no it is not beyond me I found it very basic and childish much to simplistic

maybe you should try it since the updates that have happened over the years maybe?

I bought it.
played an hour.
it's good but really there is no reason for the graphics to have retro pixelated style.not this game.
also it is obvious the game was not designed for controller, but a mouse.
I love this type of games (Animal Crossing,Harvest Moon, even Hayday on Facebook) so far I'd say it's good but not on par with the ones I mentioned.

Played a bit more yesterday, fairly hooked - if mostly from the "boring" part of chopping wood and breaking stones. Obviously tickles the right neurons or whatever.
I'd still recommend paying more for the PC version even though I've settled on PS4 (if there were cloud saves I'd have bought both, but there aren't, so I'll make do with PS4). Currently 20% off on Humble Store so £8.79, worth the extra £1.40 for the controls I'd say. https://www.humblebundle.com/store/stardew-valley?hmb_source=search_bar
However it's not terrible. I'm sort of used to it, it's just that sometimes you have to try and aim for a little arrow to advance a screen and that can be a bit annoying with the controller as a 'mouse'.
