I have been looking at a hell of a load of reviews of 4k tv with a view to buying one and have come to the conclusion that they all have problems from things like light bleed because most are edge lit, banding, motion blur and a lot of them have very poor sd picture and even hd picture not as good as dedicated FHD set plus the fact there isn't that much HDR content about at the moment so for the time being i'm keeping my 43" lg 1080 with superb picture no backlight bleeding because it is direct backlight no banding no motion blur watching sport and also superb passive 3D

Paid £409 for this as Deal of the Day back in March. Nice TV but had to buy a soundbar to enjoy the sound.

You can pick up a 49" 4K TV for about the same price if you keep your eye out, this isnt a very good deal IMO.

Seems like a good buy. But only 2 HDMIs (+ 2xUSB) according to the Sony specs - why so few nowadays?

At a guess to differentiate from their more expensive models..

Does the 40" 4K TV come with binoculars so you can see the inprovement in picture quality?

Who said anything about poor quality 4K?

My advice, not that you asked  , but If all of that is important to you then you need to lay out a bit of cash..
I have a 55 KS7000, I have none of the issues mentioned above... at the moment the deals for the KS9000 as amazing, and the OLED deals at the moment are also very good, but you are looking at £1300+ to get a decent set.
But in fairness you can pick up an 49" LG for under £500.00 that I would argue would be just as good if not better (4K + App selection) than this set..
Also Sony have the worst boot up times on the TV's takes minutes!

If someone is considering buying this a Full HD TV they're obviously not going to be watching 4K content so it comes down to the quality of 1080P and SD content, a Full HD TV handles SD content far better than a 4K TV, so a 4K tv will be of poorer quality inherently.

I have this set and although it's not perfect (What TV IS) for that price you are getting an excellent picture.

I think that set seems like a good choice and I am considering doing the exact same thing, what do you think to a 4k monitor though - the lg 27" ips 4k or the predator 28" tn 4k or even the electriq 28" tn 4k panel - smaller screens but alot less money!?

I can see the difference between 4k in a vestel and HD from a branded TV from miles away.
4k is just better. Yeah cheap 4k TV don't have deep blacks, or great speakers... But cheap 4k on a 4k TV beats HD content on any HD TV to me.
