Yeah - surely they didn't show it with no cord deliberately? Very naughty!
There are some cordless Hoover ones around (possibly at The Range?) for under £100 which get great reviews (my local pub uses one!).

Mostly hype. Shark claim that this model cleans carpets better than a full-size DC40 Dyson. Which magazine only rate it at 66%, whilst the various DC40 machines are rated between 74% and 80%.

I can not speak about this particular model but i have a

Shark Rocket Stick Vacuum Cleaner with DuoClean Technology True Pet HV380UKT

and absolutely love it. To begin with I was going to buy a Dyson but then my sister bought one so I gave it a try and was disappointed. After a lot of research I bought the Shark and am really very happy with it, for me Shark vs Dyson, shark wins hands down.

The Sharks are corded which after trying the cordless Dyson is one of the reasons for choosing a corded vacuum. The cords are really long so covering the ground floor of a 4 bed house from one socket is easy, including all the way up the stairs.

Your comment is exactly what I was going to say - the True Pet version is certainly good and having had a Dyson previously I would not go back. I feel Dyson's are actually not that well made for the money are a bit "emperors new clothes"

Excellent product, much better than the Dyson upright I had before. Light and very powerful, the only negative is that you have to empty it more than once during a full hoover.

Would not go back to Dyson, they are massively overrated.

Having owned Dyson's since hoovering began, I purchased the http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6195304 Shark NV680UKT and must say it does amaze me what it picks up compared to the Dyson it replaced. Bought directly from Shark so was able to split the payments into 3 and was given a Steam Mop too. My only complaint is that the dust box could be bigger. I have no doubt this Shark will perform well also.

Why on earth would this corded vacuum ever be worth £199. Surely £89 would be expected for such a product as you aren't paying for li-ion batteries or a charger. This style of vacuum is available from many manufacturers but almost always its a cordless model be it Dyson, Vax, Hoover etc. Why would you want a cordless type/style vacuum with a cord? You would always have the cable trailing about. I thought the whole point was pick up and use and put down again with no messing with a mains cable. Seems like an awkward shape for a mains vacuum too. Is it meant as some sort of hybrid device for small flats that doesn't do either job well but its a single vacuum solution?

A major point for these models are that they are lightweight. On top of that they are easy to store, irrespective of whether it's battery operated or mains powered.

3.5kg is fairly substantial for a handheld vacuum. I wouldn't class it lightweight and there are many more compact vacuums which is why I said it might be a hybrid device because it isn't as large as a normal full size vacuum. It's between the 2. My point still stands though considering the components needed why would this ever be worth £199, it's going to be a fairly low power motor I assume similar to low wattage upright or cylinder vacuum maybe 300W as in the name or at least less than 500W and from past reviews they don't do filtration very well even if claimed to be Hepa filtration. £89 for a powerful cordless is great but corded?

I'm not sure why you're comparing it to other hand held vacuum's? Surely you should be comparing it against the weight of standard upright vacuums where these tend to weigh between 6.5kg and 10kgs.

It's substantially lighter than these models and as mentioned, the storage of the device is a big plus. On top of that it slides instantly into a handheld device for stairs use which is a very handy addition.

You maybe right about components, as the RRP is certainly off the mark considering Shark's other handheld is less than that, but £89.99 is a fantastic price for this vacuum.

Curious to know if anyone has this model ? My mum has arthritis in her wrists and finds and upright hoover to heavy. But not sure if carrying a handheld one although lighter would still be too heavy on wrists ?

I still feel £89 for a low power corded vacuum is pretty much normal price and this would be a bargain at half that like £49. Normal vacuums maybe 6.5kg to 10kg but they aren't hand vacuums. That's why hoses were invented so you could hoover higher surfaces without having to lift a large device to do so. This so called innovation seems like a backward step unless cordless.

Shark's vacuums come with a 5 year manufacturer's guarantee too, which I always feel suggests the reliability & quality of a product....
I'm in love with my Shark NV680 so I might be biased though!? :laughing:

I tried one of these thinking it would be good for the car. Suction not powerful enough and I bought the 480 instead for £69.99 s unfortunately whilst this may be a good price its never going to be hot for me as I don't think it's good enough and lacks suction.

Really good deal, surprising how well the motorised brushes on these clean carpets, it can be stored freestanding or you can put it on the wall (if you want to).

Yes it's not cordless but so what? It's lighter than a typical upright and a lot more versatile, and with a 5 Year Warranty.

For £89.99 it's clearly not going to be the best model Shark do, but for those who want a good easy to use vacuum without spending a fortune this is great, and much more powerful than all of the pathetic cordless machines knocking around. Take the ratings with a pinch of salt, you'll notice Dyson only get a 'D' on carpet too. If you want an A/B rated machine have a look at Shark's other handsticks or uprights.

Had a similar model to this, its good but and does the job but it can get heavy in your hands if you are trying to do the whole house (youngish man too!) maybe a break in-between depending on rooms and floors.

A cordless vac is much more quicker and easier to get around the house but again not as powerful (not tried the dysons yet), next purchase will be a Dyson V8 though, its cordless, lighter and hopefully good.

I tried to get this when on offer. Nothing local in S Yorkshire. Couldn't even order it for delivery. Kept trying. Just had a look now and the offers expired. Please double check for yourself. I bet it's in stock now though

I ordered at £89.99 from Argos Exeter (Guildhall). Went into store to collect and price came up as £149.99. Fair play to Argos though, they honoured the earlier (lower) price, so I'm very happy.
