After the god awful slow, buggy piece of crap that Sony called an Android implementation on the one I bought and swiftly returned last year I hope they've improved now.....

Errrr refurbished at this price.. nahhh. I'd get hisense h55m7000 instead for the same price. Price match it by JL for 5 yr warranty

£739 is the cheapest you'll find this particular model, it's a £140 saving and a better TV than the hisense

What's hisense's x-reality pro engine like?

I believe Hisense have some other random words to describe their meaningless guff.

Don't know anything about this TV but I've seen 4 refurbished TVs from Sony Direct and every one has looked brand new and completely unused
Had 2 Sony tv's, last had the android system , awful tv,s I will never buy a Sony again.

This is refurbished and Sony's bottom of the range set - it's not even remotely close to the Hisense in quality, and it uses Sony's incredibly arduous Android operating system.
If I had to go refurbished, then at this price I'd get the far superior Panasonic 58DX700 (which has the best OS of the lot) off Panny's ebay site.

Sonys bottom of the range VS hisenses bottom of the range. Yet you think the Sony won't come close? Interesting theory...
The Panasonic is comparable, "far superior" is pure hyperbole and unfounded.

Hang on, the 55m7000 is Hisense's top of the range at that size and it is far superior to this Sony as well as being brand new.......perhaps you should have done some research first?
As for the Panasonic, that is better than the Sony, but still not as good as the Hisense (having played with all three) at various times over the last 6 months.
The Panny has a fab OS and great upscaling.
The Hisense is all around superb, though I'm not a fan of it's OS.
The Sony has a badge on the front that says Sony.

Not sure about the sony's range. But the m7000 is top of hisense's range

Hisense are a budget brand... The reviews for the m7000 don't particularly rate the technology, but the cost.

Returned my Hisense after a few days, found the picture poor in comparison to other sets I've owned.

What makes Hisense a budget brand? The m7000 reviews are great albeit out the box picture isn't great and needs fine tuning of which there are over 200 pages on AVforums to show its popularity and picture tuning tips. As long as it's not the chirping November build I think they're more than fine without the high price tags you pay for the LG/Samsung/Sony brands. Even LGs ~£650 alternative competition has poorer reviews than the Hisense.
Unless you're buying OLED I see no reason to spend hundreds more just for the brand.
Anyways this is a good price if you take away sluggish Android which is on most integrated TVs anyways, far better with a android box.

Don't buy from these cowboys, they send the TVs out smashed and its hell trying to get a refund.

Got a 55 inch full hd version from these guys last year and haven't been that impressed with it. Bad backlight bleed, constant cracking/expanding noises, buggy OS made slightly better after most recent update. Attempted to send it back under warranty but they said all within normal operating standards of the product....beware

Yes drove me crazy at first. Have learned to live with it now but still occasionally annoying when I hear it during a quiet scene in a film. Did you ever get yours fixed/swapped?

I am still in conversation with Sony - more directly on Android however, they seem reluctant to exchange.

The 'popping' sounds are just something you have to accept - fact of life I suppose with TVs that are essentially mini PCs

comparing a Sony quality build TV to a budget Chinese brand is preposterous within 5 years most of the Chinese rubbish will need or have been replaced not one thing will Need replacing on the Sony that's what you pay for not the badge

I'm guessing you don't have a Sony phone then, because the full stop key is clearly broken on yours

Absolute tosh - the Hisense M7000 series has fantastic build quality and can be had new with a 5 year guarantee vs this one with 12 months, that by some accounts is worthless and Sony build quality isn't remotely close to what it use to be.
I'd also suggest that this tv may struggle with the latest iteration of android in 5 years......and I'll be curious how much support Sony are giving that OS then.

Was your internet plugged in? Is your Enter Key broken or are you just new to the Internet? Perhaps you can ask someone familiar with using the internet to point you in the direction of the Sony forums, where you will find thousands of hits on DPS Board failure. Happy to educate you
