Hi all,

Banner on PS4 page advertising this deal.

Offer details, copied directly from page:

1. Buy any PlayStation Pro or PlayStation VR and select Buy Now Pay Later in checkout.

2. We’ll automatically credit £80 back to your account by 15th June 2017. We'll email you when we have applied the credit to your account.

Buy Now Pay Later allows you to delay payment for up to 6, 9 or 12 months. The payment free period starts when you place your order.

The interest is calculated from order date and will be added to your account after the end of the payment free period. Avoid interest by paying in full within the payment free period. Find out more in checkout.

Delivery charges and other Financial Services products are not available on Buy Now Pay Later and will appear on your next statement.

Order must be placed online. If you return your item, the credit will be reversed. This offer can’t be used in conjunction with other offers. Offer live 3rd May – 11th May 2017.

Credit provided, subject to credit and account status by Shop Direct Finance Company Ltd. Aintree Innovation Centre, Park Lane, Netherton, Bootle L30 1SL. Over 18’s. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Great deal if you can get the credit!

Edit:

For those people that don't trust Very, and are afraid that the deal won't be honoured, I present the below hot tips from HUKD members:

Bird68: "always screenshot everything with these type of deals"

and

SupraGaz: "With the BNPL I always go on their live chat and ask it to be explained to me so if there is an issue I've got a date I can go back to where it's recorded on their system."

Assuming you apply for the deal, using the above tips puts FULL accountability onto Very, and there shouldn't be anybody who misses out, as long as you challenge them appropriately I guess. Nowhere in the T's&C's does it state 'subject to availability' - simply requires that you are elligible for BNPL Credit.

Hope this helps!

Hmmm, a few things I've just thought.

Firstly, the price of the Pro is already hovering around £320, so in reality that £80 cashback is only worth £50.

Secondly, it's £80 credit back to your account with Very, which means you have to spend it with them on something that, lets be honest here, is probably overpriced to start with. For example Horizon Zero Dawn is £48 on Very and £38 elsewhere.

So, by my maths, best case buying the Pro, you're effectively getting a free game. Given Very themselves were doing the Pro with Horizon just over a week ago for £300 with a code, it doesn't seem that attractive.

If you then so the same maths with the PSVR, that's not attractive at all - obtainable for around £300 elsewhere, your £80 Very credit is in reality worth less than £30 which won't buy you a game or PSN sub at Very's prices.

Also, being a bit picky (sorry), don't the rules on posts say that the price in the title has to be shown without cashback / codes etc? I can't see anything in the post that states the original price of either item as being £349.99

Be careful when doing this as I and a many others have been royally screwed by Very who suddenly have no record of orders being put through as BNPL so as to avoid paying out the account credit.

Personally I would avoid the hassle and not use them.

You can use quidco/tcb - it may get declined

To clarify on £80 credit. The key thing here is to select BNPL - this gives you up to 12 months to pay it off. What you do is wait until the credit is applied to your account. The outstanding balance will go down by £80. You can then pay of the remainder.

DO NOT PAY OFF THE PS4 UNTIL AFTER THE £80 CREDIT HAS BEEN APPLIED. AS IT IS BNPL THIS WON'T BE AN ISSUE.

20% + £80 AC finally stacked after 3 CS Chats. Two said it was okay, one referred to the Financial Department who said it was NOT okay. I guess they felt I had a case with chat logs of two employees saying it was fine. Oh well, all's well.

Yeah good luck! Seems legit if they have said on multiple occasions you're elligible.

Actually I have used the 10% off new BNPL customer, which gives me 35 quid off. I had a chat prior to the purchase, and the chap confirmed that, despite using the new customer code, I'd still be legible for 80 quid credit offer. I've sent the chat record to my email so I'll quote them on that. Another separate chat also confirms that I'm eligible for the cashback offer from topcashback but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Anyway, let's see if the chap will apply the credit manually next month as promised.

Just keep pushing it mate, if another member here has had credit applied on top of a 20% discount, when the T's & C's stated it couldn't be in conjunction with another offer, then really you are elligible to receive the offer as long as you have fulfilled the T's & C's, which I am assuming you have.

12 May 17 1 #196
Be careful though. Very can reclaim the saving from a voucher if they think you werent meant to have that code. They can even go back and charge your card after closing the account. Its in their T&C's and in a number of the bad reviews out there......

just to make it more interesting , they can claw this back after your 28 day returns period , so you're stuck with the item and cant return it.

Hence the bad reviews about Very

Some people have commented about trying to use it, and Customer Services confirming it's possible.

Best advice, contact the Customer service on Live Chat, make a note of the date of the conversation and try and get a transcript sent to you so you have evidence if you are told that you can.

Just be aware, the t's & c's clearly state about not in conjunction with other offers.

Not offering BNPL for me and I've had an account for a few years and been offered BNPL on other orders in the past! I did try to call Very to follow up but was greeted by someone that could barely speak English so decided to leave it. It all just feels very shady, to much hassle imo. Not a very good business model really is it :man:

Nope. Spoke to their underwriting department and they stuck to their position that my exclusion status for the option to BNPL was final, and would only change once I had demonstrated I could keep up with credit payments over subsequent purchases. Still ordered with the 20% in the end as I was a new credit customer and it still made the Pro cheaper than anywhere else.

Did you get any further forward with this? I am in the same boat. Never missed a payment and full credit limit. I've only ever used my account once before, which was for BNPL for around the same total cost, and that was about 18 months ago.

I am in the same boat. Nothing outstanding on my balance and never defaulted on a payment.

The only thing i can think of, not that it makes it right, i am not a heavy user and only used it once before which was the same circumstances in that i took BNPL on a £300 ish item and paid it off in a oner before the 12 months was up. Probably been 'idle' since then for over a year.

Did you get anywhere?

Honestly don't understand the Very problems...

Ive had a Sonos Playbar, Sonos Sub, Sonos Play 1, Acer monitor, Acer laptop, Asus tablet, Amazon Alexa, Samsung TV all on similar deals!!! Not once have they screwed me and I have saved hundreds of £££ by using them!

Don't mean to sound awful but if you are getting messed around by them, perhaps you have done something wrong?

Is this new? I've never been able to use credit (cashback) towards an existing order or the order the cashback was from and I simply lost the £50 cashback it "expired" the credit was applied to my account and sill within the bnpl period and still owed over £300 on the item.

I just spoke to someone on chat and even they're telling me it can only be used towards new purchases.. O.o

Nobody has any idea what the future holds, rumours of price cuts only come up days or at most weeks before they happen.

It's perfectly possible you could get a Pro with one or two games for £350 on Black Friday as there is a chance the Pro gets a modest price cut around the Scorpio launch along with Black Friday special deal. I can't see it below £299.99 though.

It depends on what Scorpio is priced at, if it costs more than £450 then Sony might feel they don't need to cut price to compete against it.

So does anyone think the Pro version will be much cheaper around November time?
I'm getting my lad one for Christmas, but if there is a significant price drop, I'll wait.
Just seems a decent offer.

I'm not sure if you can stack codes with Very. The way I did it was to make a purchase without any codes. I then contacted Live Chat when I realised I could have used a code (once my order was dispatched) and they credited my account with £20 (the value of the code).
This way, my original order shows that I purchased the console without any codes so I will still receive the £80 cash back. Hope that helps

4 May 17 #154
no big rumours from sony regarding the ps4, most likely will introduce a SLIM version of the PS4 1TB and may include an exclusive game with it as a bundle deal, so imo i wouldnt worry, its scorpio coming out out the end of the year that you need to worry about, it's going to change console gaming as we know it and scorpio will be on par with high end pc gaming capabilities.... get in

I meant my original message might of not of been clear...

In the past they've denied me ever applying cashback to purchases already made they said I have to buy something and can never be used towards the same product the cashback was for and would need to be a new purchase after the credit is paid back.

As for v1/v2 - Poor Sony Twitter telling me only Camera v2 works with VR!!
Nettle_Warrior
4 May 17 #149
You didn't edit your reply very well
hobsgrg
4 May 17 #148
I'm not sure how their reply could be any clearer. You get £80 back, which if you don't pay off the balance beforehand is used as payment towards the PSVR. You pay £80 less for the item than you would have done otherwise. You don't have to spend anything more with Very, the credit can be used to just pay off your original purchase.

All you have to do is wait to get the credit back and then pay off the remaining balance before the end of BNPL period.

The V2 camera is exactly the same as the original just with a different exterior design to make it more convenient to position correctly. I have the original camera and it works fine with PSVR.
FlexR
4 May 17 #147
...?

Sorry for the confusion, what I mean is the £80 is credited to your account to buy something else from Very, I mean you can't use the £80 back to pay towards the VR like to cut down BNPL you've to buy something else right? Not apply the £80 back to your PS VR BNPL purchase.

As for the camera, I'm guessing it needs to be v2 for the VR?
tink179
4 May 17 #146
I've bought many items from very on BNPL. Never once had a problem with them and I always pay off my balance in full before the time is up so I've never once paid interest with them either. Anyone who isn't sure on this, do not use it with any other offer as it will void the £80 cash back. Just ensure that you choose BNPL on the payment screen and you will have no issues receiving your £80 cash back. Also note that as long as you haven't fully paid it off when you get your credit, it will automatically be deducted from the price of the item. You do not need to spend it on something else. I don't get why some people seem confused by that.

Having a Pro and a OG PS4 in the house the difference is night and day, especially on more recent games designed with Pro in mind compared to previously released games receiving a update/patch with Pro enhancements, which is my main reason for buying this deal as I dislike playing Pro games on the OG console knowing it is better on the other console. The video is from December so around a month after the Pro came out where alot of the content was older games being updated.

Just got another £20 off through Live Chat making it £250! Looks like I'm returning my Slim to Amazon Warehouse.

If you had placed your order yesterday like I had, it may be worth a try. Contact Live chat and tell the advisor that you placed an order but you just realised you could have used a code -> 6TFTK. They will check your information and then add £20 to your account on your next statement day. Make sure you go through the survey at the end also to get the transcript emailed to you.
Also go through a separate chat to get them to confirm the £80 cash back deal, and again get a copy of the transcript by completing the survey at the end. Good luck if you try it.

The code again is -> 6TFTK

If you do a BNPL then take 3 doesn't apply. Your statement would show a balance of 0 to be paid by DD which is why nothing was taken.

Can't see that very have done anything really wrong here to be honest. Looks like your own assumptions have been the problem here - did you not check your statements every month when these payments were supposedly coming out? That would have made it quite clear.

4 May 17 #119
Just want to say, i ordered my phone last year from them on 12 months BNPL. Did not show on my account had to email through before it was dispatched to confirm. I then setup a direct debit 4 months before interest period finished to clear the full balance on take 3 payments . I then checked one month before to make sure it was nearly cleared and what a suprise no money was taken out in 3 months!!!!

I called them was told billings lines were down, explained my situation as above, no call back for 10 days i called up again was told they have a internal OLA of 10days to respond so the "Manager" was sending a direct email for an update on my direct debit. 1 week before interest starts i call again, to be told take 3 payments on direct debit doesn't count towards your BNPL purchase? I mean how confusing is that when its an option when you setup the DD. I agreed on the phone to pay full balance by end of the month, surprise only minimum payment was taken on DD and now they added £200 interest, ive cleared the phone cost but disputing the interest but they are trying to come out with loads of excuses.

Can't say i've had much of a problem as log as you click BNPL and don't pay it all off before the discount is applied.

No that's credit into your account. So let's say your credit limit is £500, you buy the Pro for £350, you now owe them that. Eventually they'll credit your account with £80 (don't pay anything on it until they have done that). That will take the £350 you owe to £270 (once they add the £80) then just pay off the balance within the remainder of the 12 months.

Take screen shots of promo on site, terms, selected payment option at checkout (BNPL), and final payment confirmation screen.
If money doesn't get credited in due course, request it, if not credited in 28 days after that then make a money claim against Very.
It's not hard to take control and not be at the mercy of a retailer.
Having said that never had a problem in the past with these types of offers from Very...and it is always the hysterical angry Very customer we hear about who likely hasn't read the terms, hasn't paid with correct method and shouldn't be operating a computer let alone have access to their own money.

It might be unlikely that you won't get it if you follow the instructions but you can't say it's guaranteed as you don't get it immediately.

You should have also really shown the headline price of £349.99 in the title and body of this post and then show the price after the £80 credit.

Dont post much, but i think people really should be wary of Very.

I bought a mac pro on BNPL. They made a mistake and needed payment upfront, so i paid £2000. It then turns out after payment that they have a credit card opened in my name for the same amount. They admit this is their fault, but require 8 weeks to investigate how the mistake was made. In the meantime my credit score is affected. The FCA will be dealing with the matter soon due to Very's lack of response.

Just providing a heads up.

Used the 20% back for the PS pro earlier in the year and we got there in the end (initially didn't go in as buy now pay later and had to get them to change it and then they were late crediting the cash back). Did work though and this is a good offer.

Would like a PSVR so strongly thinking about it (should probably pay off the Pro first though!!). Good offer. Only downside is their starting price is higher than we've seen recently so the £80 back doesn't have the full impact.

Same here. Apparently, they only enable it for some credit accounts based on the applicants circumstances. I've never had credit and am a student so that probably had something to do with it. Really cheesed off as their site is plastered with 'spread the cost' and 'Buy Now Pay Later' which any one would assume were synonymous, and therefore one and the same, but in fact they have different tiers of deferred payment option, one being their 'Take 3' option which isn't applicable for the £80 automatic credit!

Should not does not mean will not. Should not means it might get paid or it might not, any cashback on this deal should be looked on as a bonus not a deal maker.

4 May 17 #91
In theory, the CB shouldn't interfere with the Very promotion, but there is a strong chance that it wouldn't get paid purely because the retailer has to agree to the CB, and if they see that you benefit from another deal it may get declined. At least, that's how I understand it! Good luck!

notavalidaddress
4 May 17 3 #89
You can use quidco/tcb - it may get declined

To clarify on £80 credit. The key thing here is to select BNPL - this gives you up to 12 months to pay it off. What you do is wait until the credit is applied to your account. The outstanding balance will go down by £80. You can then pay of the remainder.

DO NOT PAY OFF THE PS4 UNTIL AFTER THE £80 CREDIT HAS BEEN APPLIED. AS IT IS BNPL THIS WON'T BE AN ISSUE.

Some gamws have texture details increase. (Pc gaming high/ultra settings at 1080p).
Other gamws that were 30fps locked may now be 60fps locked at 1080p.

Rest is 4k checkerboard.

To the other comment, the pro has been said to barely increase psvr performance. Unsure how true it is, don't have a psvr or a pro.

Yeah make sure you screengrab the deal and be prepared to annoy the customer service dept multiple times. I ordered a Xbox One S from Very in September, going through their link and making sure BNPL was selected, only for it to go through as a regular purchase, it took five months of calling to get the credit added to my account.

It's certainly a tempting deal but I think i'll wait to see how much the Scorpio ends up retailing for.

The offer is pretty clear cut, order BNPL, get credited back £80. It's not cashback. As long as you follow the T's & C's you will be able to benefit. There's no subject to availability clause or anything, nor a 3rd party that needs approval to apply cashback.

And you can pay it off in one hit once your credit is applied back, so there's no real risk of interest, just like buying it in person.

3 May 17 #51
Ahh, ok. Not as bad a deal then, but you still end up paying out £30 more than the current best price to hopefully get it £50 cheaper (obviously Very hope you mess up and end up paying interest etc). If you factor in buying a game too though, the Very deal a few weeks ago including Horizon actually worked out cheaper (using a code). Lets not also forget that just as the £80 hopefully drops back into your Very account, it's widely predicted Sony will be announcing price drops across the hardware range at E3. I have a feeling we're in for 6 weeks of similar deals to this as retailers rush to clear stock they've paid more for initially.
Ferrit
3 May 17 #50
It's on buy now pay later, so by the time you come to pay the item off the £80 will have already been credited, so it's not £80 credit that you have to spend at Very. At least that's how I understand it.
SVRich
3 May 17 3 #49
You have to get it on buy now pay later, the £80 will be taken off your credit balance so you will owe them £270. You won't have £80 you have to spend with Very.
Begize
3 May 17 5 #48
Hmmm, a few things I've just thought.

I can't see anything in the post that states the original price of either item as being £349.99
hobsgrg
3 May 17 #47
I've never had any issue with these type of deals from Very and received the credit back without issue. They are relying on people not paying off the balance within BNPL period as then you get charged obscene amount of interest back dated to the original order date.

As long as you can make sure you pay it back in time great deal.
