Great bargain for a reasonable DVD player- red colour only. The black and blue models are still £32. This was on shelf in electrics section- yellow label reduced but they had 4 left. Looks like they are continuing to get rid of old or unpopular lines. Here is description for anybody interested:
7'' swivel Portable DVD Player in red. 1. Up to 2 hrs battery life 2. DVD, DVD-R/W, VCD, CD, CD-R/W compatible 3. Car Adaptor/charger 4. Mains Adaptor 5. Built in speaker 6. Headphones.

Yes and they can also be used when you do not have an internet connection.
They can also be used abroad when on holiday to watch movies when your hotel internet connection is too slow (and the wrong region) for netflix

Worth scanning the frozen and dory ones, they were £11 and £10 in three of my local Asda's. Plus they're lexibook, they'll play off a USB stick. I bought one of each.

I'm pretty sure that via the criteria on Netflix's own Terms and Conditions, IF your unable to have any notable Internet Connection near you or whatever?, but yet still feel you want/require their Movie 'services'?, they're still able to send them Movies out to you via the DVD Format still ... (like LoveFilm STILL does). :-)

?
There's pro's and con's with either/both really?, so you can't really directly compare?.
And besides which, if you hit it right, the OP's Portable DVD Player Deal is only £10!.
Try hitting a Tablet for the same price? (be it a half decent one, or otherwise ... )

Depends on your personal preference, your personal needs, and/or your own definition of ancient too really?.
I don't see toooooo many Portable Blu-Ray Players knocking about anywhere? (be it for £50?, £100+?, or otherwise?), buy yet the Blu-Ray Technology has been knocking about now for the best part of at LEAST 5+ years?, so .....
Again, depends on your interpretation, etc etc right?. :-)

You can download films from Netflix and not have to cart around a bunch of dvds

Wait, is 'up to 2 hours battery life' a typo? So you'll struggle to get through a whole film? Crikey. Guess this isn't really designed as a portable. Still, a tenner is a tenner, so have a wee dram of warmth.

Can't argue with the price, and won't vote on the deal, but have to think a £35 Amazon tablet onto thigh you can rip all your DVDs would be more versatile.

Not everything done on a Tablet has to be done purely in an 'online' fashion? (I use my Tablet's in both online, and offline modes, and in both capacities, they work perfectly respectably?, so ..... ) lol.
Whereas I use my Portable DVD Players in purely offline mode only, and they comfortably work very well via that method only/also?.
But yeh, I hear what your saying though. :-)
