Great TV but I'll echo some caveats:
1. The colour presets are mostly ****.
2. The speakers are terrible - not a problem for me as I have it going through an amp (which is very well controlled via ARC) but if you don't have an amp, budget for one or get a soundbar.
3. The blacks are only OK - not great.
Otherwise, the set is great - HDR looks amazing and Android really opens it up in terms of usage.
Some tips for best use:
1. Tweak the picture manually. "Photo" or "ISA Day" are the best presets but you'll the perfect balance can only be found manually.
2. Update the firmware immediately - a few features (like Netflilx HDR) and a lot of stability problems have been addressed in the latest firmware.
3. Go into the menus and enable 4:4:4 / 4:2:2 to get HDR from external sources.
4. Use the Internet as the source for your EPG (icon in the top right of the guide)
5. Turn the sharpness down or off for 4K sources (causes intermittent flickering)
6. You'll want to hide the Philips Apps section on the home screen as they're out of date and duplicated below - go into Apps settings, find Leanback Customizer and turn off notifications.
7. You can sideload apps with ES File Manager and launch them with Sideload Launcher .
8. If you run out of storage, you can move apps to a USB stick.

The £10 voucher doesn't bring it down, it just means that you are more inclined to buy something else you probably don't need later.

From what I understand, it's a hardware issue. Not sure if it will get worse, but for me it was very noticeable and distracting when watching a film with black bars for example.

Picked one of these up, but had to return it due to quite noticeable light bleed around the edges and bottom right corner. Perhaps I was just unlucky - it seemed a good set for the price otherwise.

Love the TV, added Kodi and IPTV and all working well.
As mentioned, the sound is really poor, can anyone recommend a nice soundbar and woofer to go with it?
I've had no issues at all playing on my PS4 Pro and Xbox One.

I picked this up at the weekend and I have to say for the money I'm really impressed, the Andriod functionality works really well and everything is nice and snappy, Also let me ditch my kodi box as there's an App.
Only annoyances I've had are that the Wifi is pants, seriously it struggled to connect with the AP 20 feet away in the same room, run it wired if you can, there is no NowTV app so I still have to keep my box for that and the Ambilight feature is only on the sides not on the top and bottom which would have been nice for a wall mountable telly.
Definitely worth the money if you can get one though.

Ive had mine a couple weeks overall very pleased with it yes the pre sets are a bit rubbbish and sd channels sometimes aren't that great but i found the blacks to be ok and really good in 1080p and after a little tinkering picture is actually impressive overall very good for the money

The video provided by bubaman are a good starting point.
I had to tweak them to my own preference as my TV is not calibrated like in the video but are as follows although some will be the same as the video.
Colour 60
Contrast 65
Sharpness 0
Brightness 50
Video contrast 88
Gamma -1
Picture style isf day
Colour temperature custom
Custom colour temerature, Red WP 127, Green WP 100, Blue WP 81
Everything else in advanced settings is turned to off
And in general settings/hdmi ultra hd/hdmi1&2 is set to UHD 4:4:4/4:2:2
I think that is everything , i hope it helps although everyones preference will be different and the TV`s will most likely not be identical colours .
It is all a good starting point anyway are there are plenty of settings and it can be a bit overwheming at first.

I picked this up a few months ago and it was pretty useless as anything more than a 1080p screen until they put the last few software updates out. It went from having awful app performance, jittery streaming, and problems handshaking with my Sky Q box at 4K (no matter what cable/hdmi used) to being a real pleasure to use. It's still not the quickest interface but it is at least responsive now, and amazon/netflix 4k streaming is working with no sync problems now even over wifi (although admittedly my tv is about 1 metre away from the access point, in the same room). Also streams video very happily from my WD Nas drive. Backlight is a bit uneven, but if you don't watch films in a dark room too often then it won't be much of an issue.

Cause its like a cheap Windows OS, install alot what you want with ease and easily accessible unlock the balls you call Apple that locks down its features to run only its own stuff

I second this. I think the price is quite good even at £450 for this set. I won't have implied a store-specific and timebound £10 voucher as the equivalent of £10 off because it is not. I think the price once pays is the price that should be displayed in the title.

I bought this TV some 3 months ago after trawling through this site and looking at various high price 4k TV's and seeing all the bla,bla about 8 bit/10bit panels opted for this one from Argos and so glad I did. its a really good TV and picture is fantastic. all I watch is normal def plus some HD channels which basically is all you can get unless you subscribe to some" pay extra" services and as I'm on a tight budget that's all I can afford!! Until the main TV companies start broadcasting in 4k why spend more on a TV that you can't notice any difference in the picture quality. Spend the money you save on a sound bar off eBay when an offer comes up ie this site!! You won't regret buying it....

You can put a flash drive like what I'm actually doing and format as internal drive. You can not remove it (easily) but who cares? You can buy one cheap and use it with only the TV. There are 3 USB ports so I don't think it is a problem.

It really is a great set for the money but def not as good as 600+ samsungs. I bought one but returned it as the sound is tinny and I do not have a sound bar. That really was my only complaint apart from a bit of banding when watching football...oh and youtube stuttered but I believe the newest firmware fixes that. I bought a Samsung UE49KU6400U LED 4K Ultra HD for £499.00 and the picture quality, sound and smart tv set up is way better but I still think this is a great TV for sub £400.Hope this helps!!

Pretty much - yes.
The set's performance won't be up to playing high-end games but you can pair up a bluetooth keyboard/mouse to overcome most of Android TV's shortcomings (some apps won't work with the remote).
Bear in mind that there is only 8GB of internal storage, of which only 4GB is available... Apps can be moved to USB but only after installation and some games will be too large to install.

Ambient/bias rear lighting, which helps with immersion and eye-strain. Gives perception of blacker blacks, if set to a neutral white colour.
Default setting changes colour depending on what is on the screen at each edge (and how many sides Ambilight you have). Ours is 3-side on the 55", so it's quite impressive. This is two-sided, so not as immersive, but still very nice in my opinion.
We always get positive comments from friends/neighbours on ours - and lots of other people in general implement their own DIY bias lighting solutions on other brands effectively too.

Bought this recently and honestly, it's a really decent set.
No real noticeable difference playing games and watching HD content between this and similar priced TVs like LG/Hisense/Sony etc. I'd even say that this is better than a friends 600+ Samsung - and the smart TV capabilities are better too. Just make sure you run the system firmware updates!!

Quite pleased with it for the price a big upgrade on the tv speakers.
I went with this model as i am limited for space and this sits nicely between the tv legs and just behind the phillips light at the bottom of the tv.
At 60mm high the tv does not block the peakers and it has built in subwoofers.
The other thing that made me go for this model was HDMI ARC so i can still control the volume with the tv or youview remote control.
I very nearly went for this https://accessories.sky.com/catalogue/products/lg-nb3540-soundbar
as this would also fit between the tv legs but is also small enough to sit under the tv
Thanks
