youre right, and one thing people don't realize also is...the human body is very very efficient at walking and will break minimum effort doing so, so 'steps' covered in a day is meaningless in a fitness scenario.

I ordered on 31/05 and received after a week, came from UK address. I installed number of applications to test it but decided to use Mi Band Master. Didn't want to use original Mi app as it required registration and I don't want to create any online accounts for someone to gather my info.

Mi Band Tools for £2.49 is well worth it. I had store credit from Survey rewards, so it was 97p.
Allows for numerous apps to send notifications to the Mi Band 2, rather than limit to 5 only, as well as choosing icon, style of vibrate, text notification and so on. For me, this is now a really useful and powerful smart band and fitness tracker - makes a lot of the more expensive devices seem poor value for money in my opinion.

Has anyone had any problems with their Mi-Band 2? I got one in January and it was great for a few months but the other week it would no longer connect to the phone. I unpaired it and tried to re-pair but then it wouldn't re-pair at all. The phone does see it sometimes and other times not, but even when it does see it it then won't connect. I've tried a second phone to discount the phone being the issue but same issues on the other phone.
Also as far as I can tell, there is no way to factory reset the band, which is the only thing I haven't tried yet.
TIA for any help.

Be aware Strava on Android does not support this band, and to get it working with Endomondo you have to install Mi Heart Rate (costs £1 something) which Endo picks up as a sensor. Bit of a hack, wish I'd have checked because I like Strava.

I counted 100 steps with my original miband and checked the app. Bang on 100. My wife runs the same route every day with her ID107 and get different step counts. The strap might be the cause of the issue for my wife. When at its smallest size the band still moves.

Just one thing to bear in mind with these cheap band things chaps... if you're planning on using it for serious heart rate zone training then I really wouldn't bother, im a pt and very into heart rate based training, only the chest straps give good enough readings to use in a serious/semi serious athletic program, hope that helps anyone.

Been using one of these for about 4 weeks and use Notify & Fitness app. Very happy with it and highly recommend the app as well. It is so good I paid for the pro version. Only frustration I find is being able to see the screen to see the time in sun light. I realise it is a compromise as to have a brighter screen you would be charging it up more often. So glad I didn't pay for a top branded one as this does everything for under £20.

People get up from watching TV, make a cup of tea and pat themselves on the back because they've done another 20 steps. "oh, well done me, better have another chocolate biscuit "
"oh I need the toilet. That'll add another 30 steps on"
Steps is a marketing gimmick that isn't daunting, anyone can walk and therefore anyone can be fit with minimal effort.
Going to the gym once a week is a hell of a lot harder than walking lol

Progress in what, walking? Why does anyone care about progress in walking on a day to day basis?
I sit in an office chair all day making very few steps (I'd guess 2000 per day), but then on an evening hit the gym. My progress is how fast I run my 10k, how heavy I can squat, how much power I can put into a bench press. That's how to track fitness progression, not some nonsense meaningless number based on how many times you've shaken your arm that day.
Salfordgirl1
24 May 17#89
You can track your progress by how often you go to the gym or for a walk. It doesn't need technology, most people who are fit or go to the gym know their personal bests.
I completely disagree with the second paragraph too, ridiculous. It's a false economy - if these items worked incredibly well then people would stop buying them as they're no longer needed, as they would have achieved fitness and can maintain it through habit alone without needing to upgrade from fitbit 1 to fitbit 3.
You don't improve your life style or fitness with a pedometer, but you do improve the pockets of the businesses who are scamming you lol
Salfordgirl1
24 May 17#82
Why do people buy stuff like this?
A step counter can be bought for like 1 quid and it's steps are completely arbitrary. Doing 10000 steps a day doesn't mean your fit and can eventually be bad for you. Steps are literally a pointless way of measuring fitness, and again, even if you found it important pedometers have been around ages.
I'm genuinely curious, I don't get it. The features seem either useless or a gimmick.

Fantastic question that I'd also love to know the answer to!
It's been proven that step counting can even lead to increased binge eat/drinking as people's 'reward hub' in their brain believes they've achieved something and now have 'excess' calories to burn - In reality, their 10,000 steps are built into their TDEE so count for very little.
Then again, with the state of UK obesity anything that gets people moving is a good thing I guess.
mrsch123
24 May 17#84
I've had one since Christmas and it's not very reliable. It has difficulty tracking my heart rate during exercise, so underestimates the calories burnt. I like the way it syncs to Google fit though and it tracks walks, runs etc on a map.

I've had mine for about 5-6 months. The strap broke after about 3 and the heart rate monitor is useless. I climbed to the top of a pretty large hill and I was gassing big time at the top - the monitor said my HR was 78.. More like 178.
Battery is great.I don't even really notice it, it's so light and no problems with it when I sleep. Pedometer seems OK, but I haven't tested it versus a proper one. The sleep data splits things into light and deep sleep - again, no idea how accurate that is.
For this price, it's a handy wee thing.

My bad. I hadn't realised that the Mi Band app is sending the sleep date to fit now too. I thought it was just steps (and weight, as I have the xiaomi scales too.)
If people are interested in this band specifically for sleep tracking then it can't hurt to get the two apps I mentioned as they seem to add more sleep functionality. i.e. more detailed sleep graphs and stats.

My 12 year old son uses one, I have a Fitbit charge 2. His sleep tracking only works if his phone clock is in 24 hr but where my Fitbit only informs me of texts and calls the mi band gives whatsapp and viber as well. Plus its waterproof. Had a recent software update so now shows date on screen under time. Heart rate tracking not constant, only active when you touch the button which is probably why the battery life is so amazing.

I bought the original miband a couple of years ago. I loved the app but unfortunately lost it a few months ago. Fell for the popularity of the fitbit and bought the flex. I dont like it tbh. I advise against this. My wife has an ID107. The step count is well off. Sometimes it removes steps from the count half way through the day. It also gets stuck during periods of inactivity. Also, heart rate monitor doesn't seem to ever go above 100 which isn't right because she does body pump and metafit classes. The Very Fit app is awful too.
I bought an original Miband (no screen) and that's far more accurate than the ID107.
