heard theres been issues with this board when it comes to updating for dd4 compatibilty, some have even bricked. i need a am4 mobo for my boy but seems theres isues will majority of boards. all im reading on forums is compatibility issues with ddr4

yeah.. AM4 products been a bit rushed so all boards have problems...even Asus Hero gets bricked. But hey, here is cheaper than ebay (some x370 Pro Carbon going for 120-150+ at the moment!) , and once you sell the Hue and Led strip, you are down to about 115-120 or so...with receipt and full warranty. So in case it gets bricked, RMA
Also, AMD board makers supposed to release some big update this month, mainly aimed at resolving memory compatibility issues

Don't worry, only issues are high freq ram support (anyway till new bios you can use them at 2400mhz (I can use mine corsair 3200 led at 2933, no problems)) and longer boot times than.
No bricket mbs with new bioses

Also on the Intel Z270 version too, if you prefer that. If this was on ITX I would be tempted to upgrade my i5 2500k build (not that I need to, it's still going strong)
Um that video is displaying an asrock bios unless I'm mistaken...

Do you actually own this board? i do and have done for a while and its a very good board theirs nothing wrong with the Bios at all i suggest you dont talk about stuff you know nothing about and that video shows a Asrock bios and i know for a fact that Asrocks X370 motherboards are some of the best AM4 boards they seem to play nice with lots of ram kits. Theres also going to be some new Bios for all boards as theres some new code thats going to sort a lot of the ram issues out.

Good deal and thanks for the post. Was looking for something like this as the AMD mobos don't have such good freebies or promotions as the Intel Z270s. Now let's hope all the kit actually works properly when I get it... bit uneasy about being a Ryzen early adopter after years of very stable Intel kit.

This is a great price. A shame as I'm looking for a white mobo and they don't offer the Hue+ with the Titanium.
If anyone wants to flog their Hue+ I'm all ears :stuck_out_tongue:

I read something about that. Knowing my luck I would buy into an AMD system to only find the week after a second revision of some boards due to some issues only being resolved ideally through hardware changes than software. You can often see that with Gigabyte boards, if the chipset lasts long enough.

RGB is the next best thing to overclocking, just like putting GT stripes on your car to make it go faster lol

AM4 motherboards suck so hard. Faaaaaaaaaar too many bios and RAM issues. Really need sorting, it's been over 2 months since launch and most vendors are still fumbling over updates and compatibility. Dual bios FTW on enthusiast boards
Only problem is MSI are no longer allowing you to redeem for honor. Apparently ran out of keys which sucks.

hmm yeah, but shouldn't you RMA directly with MSI anyway ? i..e and all they will need is an eBuyer receipt ?

Let's see...
1. Applying overclock changes is tedious and often inaccurate, failing to apply the settings until the system is restarted.
2. Memory training period is incredibly unstable and can cause POST failures with an sort of overclock - leading to the symptoms of #1
3. There are roumers that the VRMs used are cheaper than competitors. i can't confirm this one, but based on a fairly poor ceiling on the CPU I am using there may be some truth to it.
4. Voltage drop and LLC are difficult to judge, mostly due to poor descriptions on the bios
I feel that if you pay £160-180 for a component that doesn't work as you expect, you have the right to complain. Furthermore without this critical feedback how can the manufacturer be held accountable for future updates etc?
I am curious as to what you are doing with your board for it to be working fine. Chances are you have memory running well below it's indicated max speeds at the least or you would have encountered some of the frustrations I mention above.

Ryzen is apparently working well with Samsung B-die DDR4 memory, so for the best chance of achieving high ram speeds, it's recommended to go with tested RAM.

So I bought this on the original bundle deal. Overall seems a decent board, however, for those interested, I'm experiencing the following problems - despite running the latest BIOS.
1) Can't overclock in the BIOS - changing the vCore locks the multiplier to 15x. Stupid, I know. According to the MSI forums this problem occurs on other manufacturer boards and no one knows why (hooray)
2) Can't run my Corsair Dominator RAM at 3ghz. It's not on the QVL I know, but I wanted it because it's shiny. Best I can manage is 2666mhz for now.
Other than that, no problems. PC runs really well. Hoping the incoming AGESA update will help!

hmm have not tried overclocking so cannot comment on that but RAM with Ryzen is known to be finicky....are your Corsairs Samsung B die? As this one has best compatibility with Ryzen platform. I am using G.Skills 3866, also not on QVL but they work fine on 2nd XMP profile, 2933...have not tried to get them on 1st one, waiting for AGESA 1006
Opening post
Additionally they are running promo, so you get:
