I have this phone. I think the phone itself is excellent but on a complete tangent. It is DayDream compatible which after a poor launch has really taken off recently. The platform has a load of new very good games. Google announced yesterday that they are building a standalone headset with HTC Vive for the DayDream platform. Google also recently purchased some of the big VR studios to create content. It really looks like they are getting behind it big time now. It is excellent for watching Netflix on a VR big screen lying in bed. The recent games like Virtual Virtual reality and Edge of Light are on another level to what has gone before. If your looking for a phone and maybe also interested in an entry level price to VR this is a no brainer.

Motorola never again hopefully, I ordered from them a different phone, arrived faulty (mainly NFC not working). They said I need to return it first, no replacement. Return address was Germany. Motorola's courier detained the returned package in the airport for almost 10 days without getting in contact with me. I had to contact the courier myself about the delay. The given reason was my name on the package, believe it or no. They wanted my full complete name, otherwise they won't release it. It was the same details/name I ordered with and it was the printed return address from Motorola.

I bought this when it was £299 with the free speaker mod.
My opinions are mixed on the phone. Firstly the battery is actually much better than I thought it would be (easily lasts me a day), it is much better than my old S6 edge. The turbo charger is awesome much faster than a fast charger, those wires always seemed to break or stop fast charging. This wire seems much better. Runs really smoothly and it definitely feels like a premium phone. However I'm not sure if it is just my phone with a fault but my WiFi on the phone just disconnects all the time. It's not like it loses signal it actually acts like it turns WiFi off and back on again. So data gets used unnecessarily, very annoying if I'm playing a game that disconnects when WiFi drops.

Don't know if this is of any interest to anyone, but, regarding battery life, my Nexus 5X went from holding a charge for about a day and a half to about 3 - 4 hours.

Got my Z back in Feb when JL had it down to £299.. Battery lasts a day with average use and the moto mod add on battery gives you 2-3 days or 24hrs of heavy use.. Phone is very smooth and the screen is great, camera is also good as is the build quality. At half the price of a current flagship phone its a "no brainer" if you want to save £300 and not compromise too much on performance.. I can recommend a Nillkin "Nature" case (0.6mm thick) and Brotect "Airglass" screen protector to keep the phone super slim profile

Tempted by this. Though can't decide whether to just hold onto my LG G3 as still does everything I need. All I tend to do is browse the Internet and listed to podcasts. My excuse for upgrading is the screen freezes now and again and I am hoping a new phone will make screen clearer.
Not sure if this is much better than the Lenovo P2 which is £199? Read a couple of reviews and unless using mod packs doesn't seem to be much in it.

Those asking if you should switch from iPhones, here is what I did.
Had IP6...fancied a change, got this with the free JBL mod at £299 - great phone but I just didn't feel at home with it, I missed IOS. My phone had a naff battery (max 2.5 hours SOT - others getting 3-4 hours), on contacting the retailer they offered me a replacement or refund. I was in two minds but having used it for one-two weeks, I decided to get my refund and happily back off to Apple I went.
Technically speaking, this phone is brilliant and does pretty much everything and iPhone does (and more given that its Android). But IOS does everything I personally need a phone to do and to me it just feels more smooth and sleek + has seamless integration with other Apple products and iCloud. Screen was great, camera seemed decent. It also showed me that I wanted a 5.5inch screen, they're so good!
One day I may be back on Android but not for the moment.
I was petrified of scratching the rear camera lens (google it seems to be a common issue) - this case raises it off any surfaces, but does add bulk. (I need to get rid of my case so if you want one inbox me - 1 week use)

I got this last time. Hated it, no notification lights expected to constantly wave your hand over it, doubly annoying when you have it on silent, Annoying stock software (most if it probably googles fault). Finger print was very good as was screen but I found I had to install so many apps to stop it annoying me it didn't work properly any more. Went back to my G4 and have been happy ever since.

I couldn't ever get them to work properly, I kind of did but then the battery drain was huge. I spent over £10 on apps to try and get it to work for me. But the lack of being able to just glance at the phone and see if I'd missed something was a bigger deal than you might initially think. Just because you have your phone on quiet doesn't mean you don't want to know if you've had a text, it just means you want the phone silent for example if the baby is sleeping. Or if you have a shower you have to wave your hand over it to see if you missed anything Awful system where you're constantly flapping your hands

Ugh, sorry it looks like you are right. Are their difference models of the same phone? Darkmemento
21 May 17#100
Funny enough the phone actually supports a dual sim but they don't support it on the UK version and changed the holder so you can't insert a second one. Guy modded the phone and confirmed that it worked. Why would they remove the feature from the UK version?
I think the Asian models have dual SIM capabilities. Frustrating that we in the UK don't have the same options. :disappointed:
Darkmemento
21 May 17#102
Even stranger that the phone has the capability and they just decided to remove it.

Just waiting for John Lewis to repair/replace under warranty (just outside 2months) and eta is 28days as Bluetooth failed after system updates - seems to be a common problem on these.

My Galaxy Note 2 was destroyed by just bad rain at thirteen months old. I have never purchased a non-waterproof phone since. Using your phone in the rain? Having it near when having a bath? Accidentally spilling a drink on your office desk where your phone is laying? Taking photos in the pool when on holiday?
But, yeah, clearly it's only a feature for people swimming with their phone.
JohnnyRoller
22 May 171#116
I have had maybe 20+ different mobile phones, none of which were "waterproof". All of these I have used in the rain, none of these have broke.
Again to the other points you have made, these same phones I have had over a 15 year span. None of these have broke from water damage. I generally have football on my phone when in the bath too, but because I'm not 2 years old I'm not splashing around or using water pistols.
You're final point taking pictures in the pool is exactly my first comment... You take your phone swimming.

I have seen one on Aliexpress from Dreami store (they have a good rep). It states its a global version but I would double check the bands just in case - it may not work on certain spectrums.
A little trick for Aliexpress - if you put a phone in your basket and then change to another country and then change it back to the UK you don't have to pay for a warranty. Also, if you choose slow post you should not get hit with import duty (just don't choose DHL).
The only problem is with the mi 6 there is no sd card. That could be a deal breaker for some. But other than that it is Xiaomi's new flagship and the specs speak for themselves. It's a little dearer though compared to the Moto. Maybe wait for a flash sale but I can't see them flash selling a flagship at the moment.

Battery on this seems a lot weaker than on the Note 4 - 53hour vs 90hour endurance rating, but the fast-charging could counter that.

But, yeah, clearly it's only a feature for people swimming with their phone.
I'm very pleased with the phone no issues with speed or lag etc considering comments about lack of ram.
Best phone I've had so far preferring it to the Huawei p9, Samsung S7 or HTC 9.
Battery life is pretty poor mines normally struggling by 2pm but I'm never away from a socket or power bank so have not found this to be an issue.
I would imagine they will start arriving next week.
