Except it doesnt. At least not on any of mine and they are all generic ones. Iv tested the output of both ports with 2 tablets plugged in and both pulled at 1.86amps at the same time. (Which is the max the tablets pull from a charger individually)

It will take ages to charge 2 devices as it will split the output.

For a single device you're correct, but if you want to charge two phones at once then a 2.1A socket is a waste of time because it will split to 1A, which will mean about 7 hours to fully charge a phone.

Try charging more than 1 item at a time on the cheap 2.1amp ones... my lads one plus 3t took an age to charge, plug in to a 3.1amp one and it is fine. our 2.1amp one is a Varilite branded one as well.

Why? there isnt a single usb device that will take that much current from a usb port and for good reason. If you could actually charge your phone or tablet at that rate it would get so hot it could set alight. Devices have a built in cap that stops it from taking anything over its rated current which tends to cap out at 2.4amps which is why fast chargers and quick chargers were made which allow devices that support it to take higher voltages at slightly lower current which charges them faster.

Yes they are the same just higher output. I tend to go for the 3.1's now.
