Magimix 5200XL Chrome Food Processor only £199.99 @lakeland save £140 on RRP of £339.99 Bit pricey for me, but if your in the market for one this is a great deal - also includes a 3 year guarantee at no extra cost. Looks like website ONL
just been watching Saturday kitchen and they use one of these...tonnes of extra accessories and has a 30year guarantee on the motor parts - definetely one for the serious chef!!!
Our Magimix 5100 is roughly twenty years old and is used on a regular basis. In that time the only issue has been some cracking in the polycarbonate bowl, which was easily cured by a genuine replacement for forty quid or there abouts.
Here's the best bit - I've seen them second hand for more than we actually paid for it new! So not only are they superb food processors, they could even be classed as an investment! (joking... )

Great price - this machine will last you a lifetime. Mine is approx 15 years old and as with earlier post just problem with chipping of bowl. Very simple and straightforward to use. Excellent buy.

I also have the 5100 15 years or more never had an issue and still works like new. Buy quality you get quality, so this one at £199.99 is excellent value

Should have mentioned, the cracking in the bowl happened after about fifteen years of use - a decent life span for the material used I reckon.

Yes, they are really good value - I have had mine 20 years and replaced the bowl after about 15 years when it cracked around the top where the lid fixes on. I paid £40 for a new bowl and lid. I think they are far better than a KitchenAid which I tried at a relatives.house.

I've had one for years. Great bit of kit but I almost guarantee you won't use most of the attachments that come with it. Just in case you can find it cheaper on its own.

This is a different model from the one people are saying will last a lifetime - let's hope it hasn't gone down the route of planned obsolescence that so many appliances have nowadays.

I could be wrong but i think the 5200 is the successor to the 5100 which doesn't appear to be made any more.
Still same three year guarantee and same thirty year warranty for the motor - not the actions of a company going "down the route of planned obsolescence".

Why is it different?

I bought a black one in February for £358, with extra blades, dicer and smoothie mix. So this is a very good deal. I wish I had waited. Good find!!

Thanks for the heads-up. Always have regrets after getting persuaded by HDUK to let more money fly out me pocket for something I wasn't actively seeking to buy, but remorse is leavened by the fact that Magimix has always been the shiz.
Good deal but was shocked to find the cost of the accessories for the one I have which is the smaller 3200 model as the bowl locking mechanism has not lasted very well.

People behave differently nowadays - consumer goods are much more throw-away and relatively far more expensive to repair than they used to be. Is that a 30 year parts and labour warranty on the motor?

It actually duas 30 Year Guarantee on the website so that should include labour too I would think.

If you think about the pitfalls though, it's a bit of an empty promise. You have to send it back to them at your own expense. What proportion of faults involve these specific compoents, and how is the average user supposed to know that it is these parts? If it simply doesn't work, that could be a faulty switch or a broken connection, and you'd find yourself saddled with an expensive repair bill which you weren't expecting to pay.

True but I'm impressed with several users here stating they've had in excess 15 years

Does this separate seeds/pips/peels from the main fruit/veg?

They also accept PayPal so can pay using PayPal credit, interest free over 4 months

Yes, but that brings us back to the fact that this is a different model. Let's hope the only difference is that technology has moved on, and they've tweaked it a bit.

We have this magimix. Had it for a few years. Tbh I struggle with it. It creates loads of mess and leaves big chunks of veg on top of the blade, chops too thinly mushing up onions etc. I'm sure it's me rather than the kit but we rarely use it due to the faff.

Can someone please advise how good is the blender? We constantly blend good quantity of pulses, nuts etc which most blender fails to deliver. I am not looking for mill as we need both dry and wet blends
