OK, firstly I apologise about the mega long TL:DR post, but it is worth looking through to see what is available.
It seems that with the prices listed below, you could now easily swap most of the bulbs in your house/commercial property, and they should pay for themselves inside of a year or two (unless you have hundreds of bulbs). Quoted life span on the bulbs in circa 25 years, but I think if you got 10 then you are doing well, not to mention in 10 years time I can imagine LED technology is going to be almost an order of magnitude more efficient.
PLEASE NOTE - I have not measured the output of these bulbs using a light meter, so cannot confirm the quoted luminosity, but I have been using some of these for well over 6 months now and I am very impressed with the value for money, particularly the cheap 100w equivalents.
This list is by no means exhaustive, and was gathered from only two branches, both seemed to have the same type of bulbs, give or take one or two or the styles or colour temperatures. No doubt there are others that I may have missed, or been out of stock/hidden, but if I get a chance next time I'm in I'll dig through them again to see what else they have.
GU10 Dimmable
3000K Warm White & 6500K Daylight White
5w=50w or 350 lumens - £1.99
MR16 Non-dimmable
3000K Warm White Only (that I can find)
5w=50w or 300 lumens - £1.19
Standard GLS Bulbs
Non-dimmable
E27 (Screw) & B22 (Bayonet)
2700K Warm White & 6500K Daylight White
9w=60w or 806 lumens - £1.59
12w=100w or 1500 lumens - £2.99
Dimmable
E27 (Screw) & B22 (Bayonet)
2700K Warm White & 6500K Daylight White
10w=60w or 806 lumens - £3.49
I've yet to find any of the very rare, 12w (1500 lumen) dimmable species, they are very elusive. :stuck_out_tongue:
Candle Style
Non-dimmable
E27 (Screw) & B22 (Bayonet)
2700K Warm White & 6500K Daylight White

Dimmable
E27 (Screw) & B22 (Bayonet)
2700K Warm White
6w=40w or 470 lumens - £2.99
The daylight white in the candle always seem to be in smaller numbers, but don't forget to dig past the first one on the peg as normally they are burried!
R80 Reflector Style Bulbs Non-dimmable
E27 (Screw) & B22 (Bayonet)
3000K Warm White & 6500K Daylight White
9w=60w or 806 lumens - £2.99

G4 Non-dimmable
2700K Warm White & 6500K Daylight White
2w=20w or 200 lumens - £1.29
I will try and update this thread if anyone replies with confirmed prices and sighting of other bulbs, or likewise if I find them myself.
Happy hunting :smiley:

I got 6 off R50 mini spots just over a year ago same packing but different name, had 5 fail between 10 & 11 month and took them back to be replaced. We don't exchange bulbs, now played my ace card - they are a electronic device. all 5 were replaced. they are all working so far.
Good colour from them.

Yep, more than 90% of the newer style packaging ones were in stock, all with the price on the packets rather than an SEL.
They did have a few of the of the old ones, but not too many. :smiley:

Oh, they also sometimes have non-dimmable GU10's for 99p, in a blue and white box, can't remember the name but I got 24 of them about 8 months ago, only one failed and I didn't bother to get it replaced. :smiley:

really good bulbs, i am using standard GLS ones, 6400k in the kitchen really bright, and also replaced all the ones in my parents house as well, around 10 of them as well, some 6months or so. so far so good. i prefer 6400k daylight ones.

I've changed my whole house to these bulbs over the last few months all have been great. I think some are 79p in my local have wide range, daylights and warm light and options of wattage on alot of the bulbs. it deffo depends which store you look in tho, I've been in 3 different ones and all had different types of bulbs and varies in size of range, also the bulbs dwindle down quite regularly for a couple of weeks before they restock. these are deffo better quality than the poundland ones and better options too. one of the £1.49 bulbs here was £4.50 in morrisons, similar all over the place too.

Indeed, but it hasn't been until the last 3 months or so that the started having such large ranges, of E27, B22 and colour temperatures across the whole range. The space in my local shop used to occupy a small top section of one wall board, where now there's is almost 1/4 to 1/3 of an isle occupied (one side).
Also, if you knew this how come you didn't post it then :wink:

Because it's not a deal? My local HBs started selling this range in its entirety at this price last summer. Price hasn't gone up or down & I've probably bought 6-7 bulbs as and when required.

I'm generally content with these bulbs from Home Bargains however the last batch of these I got (three e14s for the spotlights in my kitchen) were pretty shoddy, all demonstrating varying degrees of flicker. I took one apart and the problem was the actual LEDs not being properly soldered to the board they were mounted on. Am currently enjoying some 5w Pro-Elecs from CPC that came in at about £2.20 each.

The Philips ones are a nightmare. We've been through many of them now. Not an issue when from Amazon, but we had a bunch from Tesco when they were on clearance there.
Googling the part number stamped on it brings up others with the same issue. The Philips ones were by far the best I've found for light, but too unreliable.
