It might have something to do with the number of ebooks you have or even the firmware. You could try MobileRead.com to see if they could help you.

I've been really tempted by this, but the lack of page turn buttons on either side annoy me. My ancient rooted nook simple touch glowlight is the perfect form factor as you can use one handed & switch hands.
I'd love a similar form factor with a new higher resolution screen, of it were waterproof it'd be an added bonus!
This is a pretty good price though, cheapest I've seen it new, so have some heat!

Yeah, sounds like a problem. I don't have this particular model but I've seen older and newer ones and they're no slower than any other eReader.
Possibly a corrupted database, some PC apps have been known to cause that. Try signing out and signing back in again as that'll rebuild it.
Kobos support swipe to change page, so you can go both backwards and forwards via a single edge of the screen (either edge). This may be a little on the large side to manipulate one handed depending on the size of your hands, the slightly smaller Aura may be a better bet.

After buying a Nook, who then a few year later and moved out of the UK market and being left without a book store to easily get books from I'd be wary about Kobo, its too easy for a company to up and leave the UK. Kobo may be owned by Rakuten but I'd still buy a Kindle again if mine broke.
I know Amazon may be seen as the big boys, yes they may leave the UK and yes they have DRM, but I'd still go with Kindle...

True but you can still use the hardware to read Kindle books if you download to PC and convert and transfer with Calibre (with some help from an apprentice called Alf). Plus it's wise to backup your purchases

Yeah, I was left in the same boat. Nook accounts were eventually transferred to Kobo (via Sainsbury's). I bought a couple of books from the Kobo store recently, but the process of getting the books onto the Nook wasn't immediately obvious.
Seems we're stuck with using a cable to get the books from a PC to the Nook, using the "Adobe Digital Editions" software now, unless there's another way I've missed. (My Nook is rooted, but the Kobo App does not work on it).

The best thing about non amazon ereaders is being able to use epub format & Adobe software that allows to borrow library books through it.
If you have a nook then root it & just use it as a android ereader.

Used to have one of these. Loved it. Large, clear screen, plenty of space (never needed to add a card, and I have A LOT of books), Pocket app, and I read books on it by the pool, on the beach and in the bath.
Only sold it for get the Aura One - I read a lot before bed so the warm backlight was an absolute must. I'd 100% wait for the new H2O if the One is too large for you.

It is but its an extra step, and while I don't mind, my Wife (and many others) does not want the hassle. Don't get me wrong Kindles have restrictions, you generally can't borrow ebooks for most UK libraries, and readind Amazon sourced books elsewhere without the Kindle app is a pain.
Kindle Paperwhite with Light is pretty much the same price (a little cheaper if you want adverts) and I know the kindles not waterproof, and people may disagree but for someone who's not that techncially minded overall its a better reading experience on a Kindle.

I've had nooks and Kobos through the years and currently got an Aura HD which is similar to the H2O in form factor. I much prefer the large screen size versus the smaller 6" screens. Less page turning and feels more like a book size. I must agree that the absence of physical buttons is sometimes a nuisance. Similar to the iPads grip on the tablet market, the kindle more or less IS the market now. Competitors are left to pick up the scraps and struggle to make a decent profit. Hence brands disappear and software development tends to get neglected. I hope Kobo remain in the market, because if not all that's left will be kindles and Chinese not so cheapies. This is a good price and the waterproof feature is a useful extra. May go for an upgrade myself. Good for the beach but not sure about reading in the bath though. T'aint natural IMO. Don't you have to keep heating up the water? :smirk:

I just download the epubs (not gonna say where from on here) on my phone or tablet, then use es file Explorer app to transfer to the es file Explorer app on my nook.
I've got the Amazon app on my nook too, so Amazon purchases sync on that, but I prefer using the Alreader app so usually look for epubs elsewhere.

Completely wonderful ereader. I replaced my Kindle with one of these and never looked back. The ability to read in the bath is superb :smiley:
Also, not buying from Amazon is great too. I tend to get books cheaper.

I find that Kobo's tend to retain their battery charge for a long time if not in use. Not sure about the modern Kindles as the last one I had was 3rd gen

I was given a Kobo h20 as s gift, the screen failed after 6 weeks. Approximately 1/3 of it was black. Contacted retailer and Kobo who both had no interest and informed me I'd broken the screen by dropping it. I was advised to buy a new one.
The device hadn't been dropped, it had sat on the bedside table. Worst reader I've owned, I bought a Kindle and have never looked back.
Search the Internet for 'Kobo screen issues' before you buy, I wish I had.
