Some motherboards also only let you use the M.2 slot if you sacrifice the use of two SATA ports.

I second that! why take half measures? even if you don't have the cash, save another £60 roughly and get something that will do your system justice!

The SG13 is actually fair big. I have a full sized GPU (MSI GTX 970) and a non-modular PSU in there just fine with one 2.5" SSD and a 3.5" hard disk. It's absolutely fine.

Not to my taste, but fair enough.

I don't like flashy stuff, windows, RGB, etc. That's why I have a Phanteks Evolv mITX (without a window) and a Silverstone SG13.

Looks really clean for the innards of a mITX build! I can't wait to see the mess of cable management I make in a silverstone SG13 case next week :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup, I'm running M-ITX also, but have a BitFenix Prodigy case which allows for a bit more space than most M-ITX systems, but cables were an issue for me as my case has 2 clear side panels

Like most things PC related, depends on your build and use case.

I have two mITX gaming rigs (one main one, and then one in the lounge instead of a console), these are ideal as the cases don't have many drive bays and I'd rather stick a 3.5" HDD in them rather than waste them with 2.5" SSDs.

mITX gaming rigs are getting more and more popular as people realise that PC gaming is great for the lounge.

Worth pointing out, just because you have an m.2 slot doesn't mean you can slap an NVMe drive in it. If you're running the Z170 chipset or later, you should be fine, but earlier boards may have trouble booting from an NVMe drive, not provide any significant speed boost if they're not running on the PCI-E 3.0 bus or simply may not see it at all.

SATA based m.2 drives will be compatible with any m.2 slot, but unless you are really looking to avoid cabling up a 2.5" drive, it's probably not worth it.

but you might as well get a 2.5" drive then use the valuable m2 slot for when you can afford a proper m2 card with 3000+mb read write. This isn't any better than a SSD drive. Save the slot. I have the Samsung chip and its amazing. Ridiculous quick. Do your pc justice!

The read and write speeds are rubbish, Samsung 960 evo m.2 are the only ones worth buying they are 6 x faster than those
