Why? You honestly think clark's aren't mass produced in sweat shops and their sizing structure (which nobody else seems to have adopted...) isnt just a marketing ploy to double the price of, what are, pretty normal shoes...?

I bought a few pairs, I also got hat and glove sets at the same price (3p) to donate to charity.

I work with children in the outdoors a lot. I once met a poor boy, about 9 years old that could barely walk. The problem? He had outgrown his Clarks shoes. But as they were expensive "and last for years" his dumb parents expected them to last for years. Ill fitting Clarks are worse than well fitting supermarket shoes. At 3p you could buy your kid every size and keep them in well fitting school shoes for years!

I'm inclined to change the saying for the 21st century to:

"You get what you pay for or less"

Because granted, supermarket shoes are fairly rubbish, but overpriced versions made in the same factory but with a brand label stuck over them isn't really solving anything is it.

the grip on supermarket shoes is awful compared with a more expensive shoe. Clarkes shoes also last years. You get what you pay for

I do find it rather amusing that others have the opinion and cheek to comment about how shocking and terrible it's is and why we should not buying them because they are 3p due to a glitch! They are supposed to be £18 it's not as if they are genuinely supposed to sell at that, I'm sure if I had put them up stating £18 there wouldn't have been any issue. In my opinion kids go through shoes like mad! For 3p you can't exactly complain if they come home after a day and they're wrecked already, each to their own though - and as for clarks im not saying I don't buy them, I shop around and have shoes from all different stores. But I'd rather not spend a large amount of money every few weeks due to children wrecking them, id rather children having fun than worrying about wrecking their new expensive shoes!

Now answer me this, are you basically trying to assume that anyone who buys £18 shoes at a glitched price of 3 pence - are bad parents?

Several have also stated about charity aswell, I'm sure that a lot of people will look on here and do so for charity or even for themselves if they don't have a lot of money - that's what this site is all about isn't it? Bargains! Cheap prices! - how come it's great for charity but it's terrible and so shocking for family's even ones with a low income?

Years ago you could virtually judge the wealth of a person by the shoes they wore. Invariably, if they had money those shoes would be real leather - uppers and soles. And usually made here in places like Northampton, sold by places like Ducker & Son a long-established shoe shop in Oxford offering traditional, hand-sewn men's calfskin and leather footwear. Now naturally gone and no more! Why? Virtually everything is made abroad with China the mass maker. So you can have near identical shoes, some will be made better, but if it has a 'brand' name, don't be fooled into thinking that you have NOT paid a premium. You will have! It is very simple.
Even the likes of M&S - have a look at their labels if out shopping over the weekend - have several of their own brands, some supposedly better, but they are NOT! You pick up a £100 pair of boots (ladies) in there and check the tag. In small print will be those magic words 'MADE IN CHINA'.
Now... if you don't believe you are being ripped off if you pay that £99 you are beyond naïve! LOL.
Back to kid's shoes. Just get your kid's measured in Clarks if you wish. Then when you know their size you'll have a pretty good idea - go to the supermarket or wherever and let the kids choose! Anyway, don't worry too much, they grow out of them so bloody quickly, they'll want another pair in 6 months time (and you'll have the cash saved to get them the next pair, and the next, and the next!). Or... just get ripped off and moan about the cost of stuff. Stuff is cheaper today than its ever been. I know. I was there in previous years! LOL

Faux/Leather upper - rubber sole... there is so little difference between shoes and manufacturing techniques these days - with the same materials - i see no point in paying a premium for a self-certified 'king of kids shoes'

Of course theyre more expensive than shoes in a department store/supermarket... that's all the do! Thats their entire market...

Their whole brand is based on a perception of superiority... this social whisper that if you dont give your kids clarks shoes then youre a bad parent - its a bloody nonsense.

My bloody mother-in-law buys our kids clarks shoes every year for school, as i refuse to - i give them to charity at the earliest point i can - i buy at sainsburys/tesco... they last as long and cost a third... weirdly - all my kids can walk without a limp and their feet are perfectly normal.

Every year she spends £120 on 3 pairs of shoes and every year i give them to charity. One day she'll learn!!

I guess you're best buying real Leather shoes for kids feet to breathe in when they are wearing them all day for school rather than all the Faux Leather ones that around,no matter what brand they are.

When you say sizing structure are you referring to width ? A pair of clarks shoes are far better quality than those found on supermarket shelves.
