Wanted to buy a entry Laptop for my son James to do his home work on and have been looking around for a while.
I saw this was £179 Save £50 then also noticed there is a £20 off coupon making it £159 TDX-HKFY and it has office included.
Its £249 in Argos and £219 in John lewis,.
Should be pretty good for what we need it for.
Also available in purple but not sure its fair to send him to school with that!
Or for those of us that can't be bothered with buying from Gearbest and potentially paying import duties and vat and the potential hassle if a fault occurs will probably prefer to just buy this from Tesco and be done with it.

CPU is pretty slow (passmark 977) but on the other hand it is economical on power.
Office 365 is a years subscription included, as is the 1TB ONEDRIVE storage.

Another point on this - while the retailer is different I think the offer is manufacturer based so : the Office 365 isn't a full year. Word came with a 6 month sub, Power Point only 3. There wasn't a full TB storage on OneDrive either.

At this price, you'd be far better off taking a punt on one of the Chinese laptops.
The Chuwi Lapbook is supposed to be very good. The EZbook 3 is also another alternative.

I have an older version of the HP stream, running windows 10 is absolutely unbearably slow. I never intended to anyway, and immediately installed Lubuntu on it (on the 32GB eMMC) - it runs reasonably fast, Facebooking is a little slow but not painful, text processing and spreadsheets with libre office runs okay, youtube is a bit of a struggle, but luckily it's a low res screen, so it can just about handle it.
It certainly does look good, but I do wonder how well the processor will cope with the screen resolution and also the fact that its a touchscreen which also adds to the demand. Perhaps it would be better with a 1080p screen, or a Kaby lake processor, same goes for the Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 which is similar spec but in the form of a laptop.

Just returned one of these to PC World, I simply wanted a portable word processor for work. They'll billing it as a "Social" machine. It was sluggish out of the box.
After removing all the unwanted software that it shipped with it was still impossibly slow. It couldn't handle social media at all. Any of the Streams will struggle with the demands a teen will want from it.
I agree with other voices, buy second hand as opposed to this. Sure it looks the part, but it'll be discarded very quickly.
It struggled with opening blogging software, didn't like Facebook. It didn't mind Word, but debated over registering key strokes or checking spelling.
Don't even get me started on the arguments I had with Power Point.
My 5 year + EE PC works faster...

I tried a new Dacia when I changed car last year and it was sub par and the deprecation is high so all in all I'd say it was a very poor deal.
I bought a Kia Rio which was nicer to drive and a better spec and as it was 2 years old it had already taken the biggest hit deprecation wise and still had 5 years left on the warranty. One family from new and about 17K.
Cost me less to buy, will depreciate less and is a MUCH nicer car.
That's what I'm referring to.

I have been looking for a 2nd hand HP Stream 13 with a slightly slower processor and 2gb of memory on e bay after I got one for my Mam and Dad and you will be lucky to find one for under £100. This has a bigger screen, slightly quicker processor and 4gb of memory for £159 with a twelve months guarantee, for basic everyday computer needs, seems like a good price to me, I have taken the plunge, have some heat from me.
