If you need to buy a 24tb at 2-4k to have any kind of decent storage, then it's time to stop being a Mac User.

I doubt it was deliberate so as to climb the rankings. Wouldn't be worth the hassle...and believe me...resolving mass uptake on mis-prices can require much time and effort with customers that have issue's in just letting go when the game is up. This is too much of a specialised item to try and strategically capture the casual buyer at its usual £3k+ price.

Was just thinking, all these people who have bought this Drive have now made this the no1 best seller in the external drive section of Amazon. If as we all presume they won't honour the orders would you say it's an immoral selling/marketing ploy to boost their rankings by deliberately de-valuing the item as opposed to a genuine mistake? I'll certainly be reviewing with a major negative if as is likely they don't honour the orders.
TehJumpingJawa

Apple's backup product.
Boxrick
12 May 17#76
Basically think of this as a Dumb USB hard drive, but with lots of hard drives and more complicated. To work with networking, the device would require a way of taking the data and sharing it over the network ( SMB / NFS protocols ).
I doubt these will be honoured so I wouldn't put much effort into it, but the best way would be to pull out the drives and sell the enclosure then stick the hard drives themselves in a QNAP or Synology NAS ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network-attached_storage ) if you don't know what you are doing.
Glutaman
12 May 17#75
Oh god, I wish any of that made sense to me! You seem to know more than me so I'll drop the question.. What would be the best way to use this with Plex?
Boxrick
12 May 171#74
This will not work, this item will appear as a PCI-E raid controller when connected to a PC or MAC. The only way to make it network attached would be to literally stick a PC or perhaps a budget Intel NUC next to it then share it via SMB/ NFS across the network.

So it says it's 24tb, but is it 24tb of storage or is it 3tb x 8 drives and being in a raid setup does this just give superspeed 3tb or actually access to 24tb?
Also, seeing as 5tb is around £100ish, you could by five drives for £500ish. So why would this be worth £3,000?
